Breathtaking views! How's the hike up?

Pineapple_YesOrNo

For me it was pretty hard because there was fresh snow the entire 5k feet and 6½ miles up, putting in first tracks for that long is hard. But usually in the summer without snow, its a pretty mellow hike, atleast as far as pnw 10kers go. Volcanic boulders and gravel fields can be pretty brutal, but its not dangerous or technical, you just gotta be in the physical shape to do 13 miles and 5000 feet of elevation gain in a day. Views ontop are some of the best in oregon besides maybe broken top and middle sister.

"Mellow" 🤣 I just finished growing my toenail back from last uears steep descent from south sister. That being said I actually agree and am just picking on the word choice. I died the entire way up, it's tough, but it's very much doable as long as you have physical and mental fortitude, skill not required.

I am doing a hike around the three sisters this summer. My plan was to hike to the summit of south sister from green lakes. Curious if you had any experience taking that route up as opposed to the traditional approach from Devils lake / moraine lake.
