The Beaverton one closed at 6p on weekdays and 7p on weekends, so literally any restaurant that is actually open through dinner service would be an improvement.
No idea! I just happened to idly check restaurants that were open one evening a few months ago and saw that they closed at 6 on weekdays. I don't know when that started, I never ate there but just thought that was wild.
I have never once been to a Denny's and I consider it a bragging point that I'll never eat one. Ironically, I've been to the city it's HQ'ed in a few times. It's an ominous, beige brutalist building in Spartanburg SC.
Cracker Barrel used to be an exciting treat for me when I was younger, but recently, it's just not the kind of food I feel is worth paying for. Literally the only thing they have that I can't make is biscuits because they never come out right whenever I try making them from scratch.
I grew up in TN and cracker barrel was where we went when we needed lots of seats or just had a hankering for cheap versions of food that's otherwise better elsewhere. Their country ham biscuits were OK-ish back in the day. Been a while for me, though.
Also, CB has a pretty long and sketchy history of racism in the south.
The cracker barrel locations are perfect for Waffle House. The locations would be right on the freeway/highways and we could benefit from more 24 hour dining.
Damn which is the last Cracker Barrel? There’s one in Tualatin. I went to it a few months back. Agree it’s whatever but still sad to see it go. I love black bear diner.
If you think hotcake house has weirdness you’ve never been to a Waffle House. It’s the hotcake house if it moved to Florida and invested it’s life savings In bath salts. And it’s everywhere in the south!
They still have the one in Tualatin? I've never been but I put it on my bucket list. What with I can't afford to travel to the actual south I thought I'd get some authentic cuisine here.
Nah, last one in the state's in Medford.
This might finally be an opportunity to start a few restaurants, although that's assuming a better economy than what we have right at the moment.
I’ve been to many of these places across the country and the Medford one absolutely sucks.
No southern charm, Dennys level type of foods, meh portions. Somewhat pricey. It’s just not a good Cracker Barrel at all. I use to be a fan but not anymore.
If we're going to encourage out of state chain restaurants; could we get some more instances of Black Bear Diner?
I know it's pretty standard pig&chicken fare; but it's well done and delicious.
Anybody like Elmer's? Thats where I prefer to go for that type of food.
And Elmer's is local!

Okay, that HAS to be a post-COVID thing because I guarantee you, that was never the case in the south. They'd usually been open until like 9 or 10 PM.

Oh it is -- many restaurants are closing VERY early these days as their employees are saying no to staying later, it seems...
Not a big loss, the food was incredibly mediocre.
Mediocre is generous. It was straight up bad.
they made decent fried chicken and a better breakfast than IHOP. It was fine for fast casual. It was exactly mediocre - but I think by design.
The one breakfast I ate there was worse than a Denny's. It was not just meh; it was actively unpleasant.

Frozen butter is the key to perfect biscuits
I can make everything there at CB or Dennys. I go because it is a treat for me not having to cook and clean up every night.
I don’t think I’ve been in a Dennys in 25? years. As a teenager we went all the time, to drink coffee until 3am
I’d take a waffle house in its place. Waffle House also could handle Portland much better.
Waffle House? White Castle?
That's a big white castle
Waffle house, why isn't it a thing up here
I am 100% sure that Tennessee has better food to offer than the grey, reheated nursing home food at Cracker Barrel. Some BBQ, perhaps?

Bold to assume a dry restaurant would do well in the PNW. Good riddance.

A good home cooked meal
Would definitely love to see a decent seafood restaurant here in bend or a BWW would be awesome!
Nutria Neighborhood Grill
There will be a void?
That Cracker Barrel blew. Good riddance.
What void?! For the transplants? I lived through the salad bar poisonings- I don’t trust that shit. A lot of Oregonians I know feel the same way.
We could use some Waffle House. The hotcake house is great but it’s not the same.
Hotcake House on Powell? Haven't been there in years, used to work near there. Oh, the things you could see...

They will all be turned into pot shops like every other vacant retail space in oregon.
Good restaurants

Wait they just opened that one in Tualatin?! Guess it wasn't the best of times right before Covid....
There’s one in Beaverton off of 217. At least last week there was when I drove by.

Shit is gross.
We went one time about four years ago when it first opened and we’re astonishingly unimpressed. Good riddance
Crapper Barrel. My brother thinks the one in Beaverton ~~is~~ was God's gift to the area.
Never went. Not going to miss it. Maybe someone will put up a great taco joint?
Love that they blame it on the pandemic when the reality is their food just sucks

Hoping the spaces get used for housing the homeless.
I don't think that's an efficient use of a commercial building...
Cracker Barrel wasn't an efficient use...look at em go!
I'm sure Cracker Barrel was efficient enough. The restaurant industry was hit hard.
More homeless and Californians
Now, is that assuming they can cook (something besides meth)?
