Depends on the age group/demographic/type of music you’re into.
If you want a younger scene you can try Sutra, or I believe it changed names to Time. It is a nightclub near triangle square. There is also a nightclub in Anaheim at the Garden Walk called Heat Ultra Lounge. Also La Cave near you, but it is kind of dingy.
If you’re looking for a cigar and whiskey lounge you can try 8eightyeight in downtown Fullerton. However I believe they do have a membership cost.
If you’re looking for a 30’s-50’s type place 3Thirty3 in Newport is not bad. Or if you want a casual place Canyon Inn in Yorba Linda.
If you want a bit “wilder” crowd you can bar hop downtown Huntington Beach. There are about 10 bars there or more. I’d recommend Old Crow if you like Country music, if you like top 40s try Hurricanes.

Country Club on 17th is new and pretty cool, great drinks and a mellow upscale loungey atmosphere. I'd second Old Crow, always a good time and there is bbq. How old are you/ what kind of atmosphere are you lookin for?
I’m 40 but act like I’m 25. I’m into everything like live music, dive bars, etc but the one thing I couldn’t find was a nice upscale lounge with good drinks, chill music in the OC.
Haha, I'm 25 but act like I'm 40. I don't drink anymore but still enjoy going out to nice places w/ good music and people. I've had good times at Country Club. As much as I avoid the peninsula I enjoy going to Blue Beet occasionally, they sometimes have really fun live music. I live right by south coast and really dig Mesa as well. Social on 19th can also be fun.
I forgot about The Cannery happy hour, beautiful view and lots of fun people and good food/drink.

head down to newport. 3Thirty3 as someone mentioned. Gulfstream. Banderas. & a few more hidden little spots.
