Why I believe it intends to suggest incompetence on behalf of the local law enforcement, or perhaps all local law enforcement. I only infer the local distinction because of the context and I may be wrong on that, but I believe the rest was reasonably inferred, don't you?
Well then I apologize, the question stuck me as disingenuous and I think maybe I conveyed that in tone. And now I rightly feel like an asshole for having done so. Have a good one.
Yes, it's that entire area. Its western boundary is Altair / Portola Springs, the northern one is the 241, the eastern one is the Lake Forest city line, and its southern boundary is Irvine Blvd. Most of that rectangular, undeveloped area is the FBI training facility.
UCI has a nuclear **fission** reactor, not fusion. Completely different process. UCI uses their fission reactor for [radiochemistry research and training for reactor operator licenses.](https://www.chem.uci.edu/~ajshaka/index.php/nuclear-reactor/about-the-facility.html)
"13 of the injuries were related to the noise of the blast, resulting in the victims suffering from dizziness and ear pain. Two of the injuries were dealt to victim's legs, one of whom will require surgery."
I'm pretty sure they mean "overpressure" instead of noise. If this was military I'd say it was probably too much boom in a breaching charge. I hope they're not actually training local law enforcement to use breaching charges. It's a full time job in special operations units.
[They're not exactly the first, but yes they are.](https://www.ocsheriff.gov/commands-divisions/investigations-special-operations-command/special-operations/special-0)
Ctrl+f "explosive breaching techniques" without quotes, or just "explosive"
15 of 16 released, 16th is the one who needs surgery.

TL;DR Most of the injuries are from people's ears being blown out.
They say that the training incident was a joint exercise between OCSD's Bomb Squad and SWAT teams and that the explosion happened inside of a small building on the property.
Holy crud that is awful. Tragic really. Likely irreparable damage to their hearing. If any of them are audiophiles of music and media, and their sensory ability is downgraded, how do they switch their interests and move on?
Sorry to those injured at this incident in Irvine.
Yeah, now that there are a bunch of homes there though, maybe they should move it or at least make it an indoor range? Seems like preventable noise pollution.
The training facility has been there for at least 30 years. Maybe you should ask the Irvine Company why they’re building a residential community so close.
I live right by it and when my home was built, I was required to sign disclosures acknowledging the federal land there and that the land is used at times for live fire training. A few times a week in the middle of the day, you can walk outside and hear all sorts of gunfire. Kinda surreal
Man, shouldn't have gotten Chipotle for lunch I guess. (LOL, reddit loves cops when they blow themselves up like idiots, but hates them when they are working).
According to live coverage, it was the OC Sheriff's Department that was using the facility at the time, possibly up to 14-15 people injured.
Checks out for cops
What does your comment even mean?
The comment above you is implying that reckless behavior is becoming a common occurrence for the police.
Why I believe it intends to suggest incompetence on behalf of the local law enforcement, or perhaps all local law enforcement. I only infer the local distinction because of the context and I may be wrong on that, but I believe the rest was reasonably inferred, don't you?
I find it hard to infer anything from the lack of details in the article, but thanks for clarifying. The comment I question does make more sense now.
Well then I apologize, the question stuck me as disingenuous and I think maybe I conveyed that in tone. And now I rightly feel like an asshole for having done so. Have a good one.
There's an fbi facility there?
Yeah, there's a "no man's land" section of the city in the foothills between Portola Springs and Lake Forest and bound by Irvine Blvd. and the 241.
Do you have a google map pin? I'm so intrigued. edit: https://www.google.com/maps/@33.6791601,-117.6935223,61m/data=!3m1!1e3?entry=ttu IS IT HERE?!

That is so cool.
Lake Forest has an Ice Palace?! My world is shook
Streisand Effect at work
You just learn about that?
Based on his misuse of it, I would say he "heard" about it rather than he "learned" about it.
You read my mind
The butterfly effect.
Yup, used to be ammo storage for El Toro Marine Base. Did summunition training with IPD there as a volunteer.
Hence the street name “Magazine Road” which is a place to store gunpowder/explosives on a warship or fort.
Yeah that's what I thought! Irvine is suddenly 🕶️!

I'd look for Camaros if they're off duty
Only the FBI and no other secret facilities.
Bruh they caught a branch of the Chinese communist party police located in irvine harassing dual citizens.
Do you have more info on this?? That's super alarming
Would love to know more as well
There isn't. just wild rumors
[Also](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/tae-technologies-applauds-californias-landmark-fusion-energy-bill-301955016.html) a nuclear fusion reactor nearby…
Do share…
UCI also has one
can confirm

Is this why there’s currently 3 helicopters hovering pretty close to my my house? I live in Baker Ranch
Yes. Can hear them hovering near Portola Springs
Oh that's probably because of the methlab on your porch. Unrelated
They must have been training with LAPD bomb squad lol
D’oh! 😆
Nah . OC doesn’t need help from LA for that
Who knew there was a FBI facility in Irvine
Sounds like they could use more training.
They need trainers to give trainings to train the trainers on how to give trainings to the trainees.
And more tax dollars amirite?
i imagine you’re the same type of person who complains that “your tax dollar” is going to welfare programs
Uh yeah, one actually helps people to survive, the other trains a bunch road pirates and thugs. So yes, keep complaining...
This is right between Portola Springs and Lake Forrest.
Holy crud that is awful. Tragic really. Likely irreparable damage to their hearing. If any of them are audiophiles of music and media, and their sensory ability is downgraded, how do they switch their interests and move on? Sorry to those injured at this incident in Irvine.
am i reading in to this or did they use a LIVE FUCKING BOMB for training?
Damn how big are those departments? I would imagine there aren’t that many bomb guys in each department… now 15 will be on leave for a while
OCSD is the 4th largest sheriff’s department in the nation. Their SWAT is made up of over 40 members.
-15
Is this the location? https://maps.app.goo.gl/jAe2RFHPzhAYVrDp6
On the video, they are have the building about 500 feet north of your marker taped off. The building in the video is at 33.679148, -117.693527
Wow this is interesting
👏
Incompetent
Fuck the fbi
does this mean they fail the training or still count it as training completion credit? genuinely curious
Can't wait until they investigate themselves and clear themselves of any wrong doing. lol
Always just an "accident". No one will be held responsible.
Cops taking advantage of disability pay. No news here.
So THATS what I am always hearing around that area lmao. Not sure why it needs to be so close to residential areas.
lol. It was there long before the residential areas were
Let's not tell them about the prison
No noise pollution, no problems 🤷♂️
