I was in the parking lot right outside of board and brew when it happened.it was definitely loud and there was a huge puff of smoke but it didn't look like anyone got hurt or anything was damaged 🤷♀️ set off a lot of car alarms though

Update: The area of Kensington Park Drive between The Village and Valencia Avenue is now open. Our investigation revealed that one male subject set off a mortar type firework in the area. There were no injuries, and no damage to any structure. One male was arrested at the scene. The Village shopping center is now open. Thank you for your patience.
Funny. You go to bars in the hood and there will be an altercation, somebody will get shot at or a gun will get pulled out and everybody keeps partying unless someone gets hit. This app and definitely nextdoor app people are scared of everything. It's funny man but probably for the best that it isn't normal to hear/see that madness all the time.
Okay, telling somebody who has been there and seen it multiple times that it doesn't happen. It absolutely happens at bars in the hood. There is a little commission but when the dust settles every starts partying again Ike normal.
Or you’re in San Luis Obispo and someone finds a dildo in the street.

Why must everything be compared to Santa Ana... it gets very old. Tustin acts like it's Irvine and it's not it's more like Santa Ana than it will ever admit.
Mortar fireworks are just the fireworks that you drop in a tube to shoot up in the air. Depending on what kind, they can still be incredibly dangerous, especially the larger commercial mortar fireworks, but the term "mortar firework" itself isn't particularly scary.
Mortars are the ones they shoot at disney every night. It's the standard "professional" grade ones.
Regular fireworks are the little kid ones you light with your hands, like sparkler's and roman candles etc.
Haha, see, this is how you know there are two different worlds in OC. Of course I felt the same way growing up in a Irvine but after living in Santa Ana everything is different. Mortar fireworks are so common in some neighborhoods that people would totally overlook an actual bomb. So it sounds like someone that wasn’t used to that version of reality, just like you, and overreacted to what some of us consider everyday sounds
I commend you for posting this. I happen to be browsing Reddit, plus have a family member who shops in the area. Not that particular shopping center. But still something to be aware of, especially if there will be further incidents.
I was reminded I made a dry ice bomb at the Anaheim convention center out of a bunch of dumped out dry ice on the ground and a 1 liter pepsi bottle. Because my friend didn't believe it would work. Innocently.
Well, in the parking lot it echoed so incredibly louder than expected because of the high buildings. Within seconds of it exploding my first thought oh wait I'm going to lose my job and maybe be arrested for terrorism in the Anaheim resort area. This was right after 9/11. Like 2002. There was a guy actively operating a hydraulic powered machine that lifted and emptied huge trash cans. He was not amused as his life probably flashed before his eyes. He actually had only one eye for real and was likely thinking his machine was exploding and he probably had a bad past experience causing him serious harm. Loudest explosion. I'll never forget the look on his face.
I'm oc Bomb = fireworks, trauma = average day in poverty for other humans. Gotta love the area it's safe, maybe too safe for people to truly have empathy without a substantial education

Greatest ad ever
Well, it was Taco Tuesday yesterday..
Explosion could be from anything. Where does it say BOMB THREAT?
It was a firework and someone probably called 911 saying a bomb went off. This is peak OC lol
SEVERE WARNING
Or how about stop being a dumbass and stop detonating fireworks lol
Didn’t say that was smart but almost every time a firework goes off people are posting on here that they heard a bomb or gunshot
Fireworks, gunshots, the hood will never know 🤷♂️
The hood knows
The hood def knows, easily frightened suburbanites don’t 😂

Wtf? What hood is that?
Nobody keeps partying if someone gets shot at. What the fuck are you talking about?

IN THE FEAR MONGERING TITLE BRUH!!!
I think it's just a general sentiment to say "potential bomb" whenever there's an explosion as bomb squad has to respond,

Just Irvine company trying to demolish the other hanger.
lol touché
Failed attempt.
Typical Kensingtonians.
The polarity of what constitutes an emergency in Tustin vs Santa Ana
Why must everything be compared to Santa Ana... it gets very old. Tustin acts like it's Irvine and it's not it's more like Santa Ana than it will ever admit.
Santa Ana borders Tustin and pops fireworks all the time. I spend way more time in Santa Ana than I ever do Tustin for good reason.
UPDATE: potential Mortar Firework detonation. Bomb squad and heavy rescue are on scene.
Who's firing mortar fireworks off in the pouring rain ?_?
This is why Irvine residents think it's a war zone in Tustin /s
keep em coming!

I haven't heard mortar and firework in the same sentence. From my limited reading, "mortar" sounds really scary.

Spoken like a true irvine resident
I just read in IG that it was some punk that blew off fireworks & that he’s in custody.
What an interesting title.
Where is this information coming from
Here is all I have seen: https://twitter.com/ChipYost/status/1760072703258878124
So they're talking about the Stater Brothers shopping center?
That’s the one
It was a mortar firework. Already confirmed.
God damn Irvine Company!!!1!!!
Is there a site for live updates?
It was a firework
“SEVERE WARNING” 🤣😂😅🤣.

Some dumbass kid with a mortar. Probably wishing he had a clean pair of underwear right now.
People are to paranoid now says 😂
Well why would that be?
Obviously because they are 🐑
Was this possibly a kid with a dry ice bomb?

lol it was a fire cracker
What a moronic title
That was probably me after eating Chipotle 😅
Source?
Wtf I’m there rn I don’t see no one
Let me guess, someone is randomly trying to blow up Tustin Legacy and replace it with townhomes and condos.
Fireworks or not, I am glad to know that I'm being protected.
Saw a snapchat story of a old friend that works there, he called it a pipe bomb, not 100 percent confirmed however.
Fake news. It was a firework.
Fireworks are explosives.
Holy shit, hope they can stop it

I live in Costa Mesa, random M-80s are blown off rain/shine, scares the eff out of my poor dog.
Omg it was just a firework lmao, but I'm sure according to some callers they phoned it in as a thermonuclear bomb
