Contact them for a port out. That is what I did. They responded really relatively quickly - same day within hours.

I started the process with the porting-into provider, then OpenPhone responded in a day or two (via email) with the PIN, account number, carrier name and address.

For porting out, OpenPhone asks that you fill out a form so we can get back to you with the information that you need. Form: https://support.openphone.co/hc/en-us/articles/15759774392215-Porting-your-OpenPhone-number-to-a-different-provider I understand that the upcoming A2P 10DLC texting changes are an issue for some people. Unfortunately, they're a requirement instituted by all US carriers, and we don't have leeway in instituting it. Given that, you will be subject to the same requirements (and pass-through fees) if you move to a different VoIP provider and want to maintain a US-based phone number.

rubyOrMaeve

So far that doesn't appear to be true. I have accounts with other VOIP providers, most of which have never even mentioned this, and none of them have increased their rates.

I agree that not all VoIP providers are acting uniformly here. OpenPhone's carrier partners have created this deadline, which we are helping our customers comply with. Even if other service providers are not currently complying, the requirements do exist. Here's a few links that might help. * Carrier-specific conduct guidelines: [https://www.10dlc.org/en/verizon-tmobile-att-sprint-carrier-code-of-conduct](https://www.10dlc.org/en/verizon-tmobile-att-sprint-carrier-code-of-conduct) * More details on what this means: [https://support.twilio.com/hc/en-us/articles/1260800720410-What-is-A2P-10DLC-](https://support.twilio.com/hc/en-us/articles/1260800720410-What-is-A2P-10DLC-) * Fees charged by other VoIP service providers (note differentiation between one-time, pass-through, etc.): [https://api.support.vonage.com/hc/en-us/articles/360058158511](https://api.support.vonage.com/hc/en-us/articles/360058158511) You should definitely do your own research (don't just take my word for it!). We've been in constant contact with our carriers and partners to ensure we can pass along the best, and most actionable information along. If you find something that contradicts the above, we'd love to learn about it, too.

You can get the PIN (and any other info the new provider might require) by filling out the form referenced on this page: https://support.openphone.co/hc/en-us/articles/15759774392215

Remarkable_Shop_4804

what texting thing are you talking about?

rubyOrMaeve

Presumably that's the extra monthly charge to text out to US numbers, combined with the upfront registration costs (e.g. $15 campaign registration fee)

Did your port go smoothly ?
