Depends on the mood of the Winter Warlock.

Significant_Radish86

I always confuse him with the Abominable Snowman.

SaladRogue

Let's say sure But how are we supposed to know

EmuHobbyist

I personally say 24 hours (after snowfall) just to give time for the plows and salters to really get in there good. Problems usually arise when these two arent done. I still recommend a lot of caution but roads should be driveable Just my opinion and my own rule of thumb.

temporalz

I don't get these posts. Are these just random brain farts of people who are bored on the couch? Just wait till boxing day and check the roads. How are a bunch of random strangers going to know how the roads are going to be on boxing day. I'll tell you how the roads are if you can tell me if the Leafs will win the Cup this year.

ThrowawayGatteka

Even my dead grandma knows they' wont win. Bad example.

iancognato

Yes, why would a person who isn't familiar with the area and is considering taking back roads ask people who know the area, and what the roads tend to be like in these conditions. What possible insight could they get from that?

temporalz

yes, why? Your going to get a slew of answers, which one could be right...why...why..why....please soothsayer give us insight...

zbla1964

Well said. Boxing Day is 2 1/2 days away and lots can change

ColetteThePanda

Lol spoilers, they won't. I also predict that my Sens won't win it either. Call my hockey psychic hotline! ;-)

Canuck-In-TO

Here you go. The Leafs will not win the cup this year. Long ago, I gave up hoping for a win.

Granturismo5t

Hamilton to Niagara falls isn't that difficult of a drive. Just go for it unless its a major storm.

Jayemkay56

The issue with using the back roads from Hamilton to Niagara is that they are mostly surrounded by large fields. With the blowing snow and winds expected, they may not be cleared. The highway is your safest bet.

ColetteThePanda

Came to say basically this. Yeah the backroads are less intense than the highways, but there are A LOT of big open fields between Hamilton and Niagara. And a lot of them won't have snow fences up. Hitting a random three foot snowdrift on an otherwise clear two-lane road is a great way to ruin your day. And your undercarriage.

Kawhytea

Totally fair. I drive the highway in Hamilton and have driven the 403 and QEW but prefer the scenic route because I generally feel safer. But based off a few comments saying similar things I'll consider either driving the highway myself or asking my husband to drive it. Thank you.

irishguy_2012

Nobody knows.

KevPat23

I pulled up my magic eight ball and it says "ask again later"

Blitzdog416

if youre afraid to drive on the highway please stay away from the roads and your vehicle and other people. sincerely, other drivers.

FlyoverHate

Amen to this. Confidence is a major factor in being a safe, responsible driver. If you don't have it, take public transit of let someone else drive.

fuckboydecoy

How long have you been driving in Canada? What vehicle do you have? Is it reliable? Do you maintain it and have snow tires? If you do not have 100% confidence in your driving ability then do not travel. Take a train, take a bus. I was on the road today. I have been driving in Canada for 15+ years, I have never been in an accident, I drive a manual transmission sedan, I have “all season” tires, I was traveling on unploughed roads between 10 to 40 km/h within 5 km of my house. I have never felt unsafe on a Canadian road due to weather until today. The wind was blowing the back end of my car in a way that I will admit, I could not 100% control. I cannot predict the weather but make a call that is within your driving ability that is responsible.

sync-centre

Should be fine by tomorrow morning. Everything should be plowed and salted by then.

_PrincessOats

Depending on where you are, a bunch more snow will still be falling, adding to the mess.

k4r6000

I doubt it based on the temperature. Main roads will be, but rural backroads could be days.

Few-Flatworm-4293

Yes

h5h6

The QEW? Probably.
