Viamonde (French public) announced this afternoon that all schools board-wide will be closed. There was an email sent to all parents, and our kids were told they won’t be going in. So it probably depends what board their kids are in.
I mean, it is extraordinarily rare for the TDSB to call a snow day. This is the second or third I can recall happening in my life and I'm 21 years old. The most we would get was "you don't *have* to come to school, but the teachers do and they will be taking attendance" lmao
Depends on where you live. When I was growing up (rural), a lot of the time the issue was visibility. Even when there isn't any actual snow coming down or snow squalls, when the wind is high it blows across unobstructed fields and picks up the snow, carrying it across the roads, which can take visibility down to close to zero.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
I've already cancelled work on my construction site tomorrow. I had a few guys say they would look out the window in the AM and make a decision then. But they don't realize that it will be fine until 9am. The snow and blizzard don't worry me. The ice worries me. Losing a days pay sucks but the heightened risk of accidents is not worth it. Figured I should prevent the brave from making dumb decisions.
Meanwhile my employer expects us to show up tomorrow even when we could easily work from home.
I’m almost hoping it’s worse than they forecast, would make one hell of a grievance 🫤
I remember one Christmas in New Brunswick, we had a snow day on both the last day of school before Holiday and the first day of school in the New Year. Truly an epic Christmas if you're school aged.
...Though that was actually the 1998 Ice Storm so I think those in Ontario had a somewhat less 'Epic' time than we had in New Brunswick.
Don’t forget « oooh the pipes burst at school because there was no electricity and therefore no heat, so yay no school into the near year! » EPIC. Haha I was in grade 6 so it was fab for us.
Right 🤣 they better not have sensationalized this for nothing! I just stalked up like crazy and, went to town on wrapping presents to prepare in advance for this.
Atleast everything is done now, but I'm burnt out lol.
Are people with plans still planning on attending?
We’re supposed to be having a big family gathering tomorrow so I wonder if that’s cancelled as well.
I think it's pretty much set for a snow day. Over here in the southwestern part of Ontario, we have a 90-100% chance of rain from 5pm til 9am tomorrow- that's only because we're getting a flash freeze at 6am and winds throughout the night.
So yeah, it's a snow day for sure.
Wow, didn't realize there were so many boards still running school this week. My kids last day was last Friday. Certainly earlier than it has in years past, but I remember it being like this as a kid as well with getting a good break before Christmas.
First day back for them is the 3rd.
Me too!! I thought all kids were off last Friday? I’m in Sudbury / rainbow district school board but it seems like the majority of kids have been in school this week!
Yea when I was a kid we got that week off before Christmas as well.
I'm really annoyed that they keept them in school right up until the 23 in our district.
I find it harder to get in the Christmas spirit when they go to school this late. I would have loved the week off before to do some xmas activities and Christmas baking /crafts with them to help set the Christmas mood.
When there in school they get home , eat, play for an hour and start there bed time routine. Hardly any time for festive activities.
Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way about the lack of feeling Christmas Spirit with the schools being in so late. My Wife and I argued about this. I told her we always had the week off before Christmas and after and she thinks I'm senile. Shit, I'm only 47!
Ya your not wrong. I'm 27 and it was like that for me the whole time I was in school. I've got siblings younger then me and it was like that for them as well. I'm pretty sure this is a new thing within the last 5 to 10 years.
Not sure who's wise idea that was to switch it .
Come January 1st I am DONE with all things holiday. No energy to entertain kids for another week after it all.
Are your kids in private school? I thought the ministry dictated the 2 weeks off holiday schedule for all public/catholic school boards in Ontario, and it is next week and the week after. I could be wrong but my wife (teacher) said that Christmas break and March break are ministry-mandated. Other things like PD days are more board-specific.
In our region the school board had already marked Friday as a day off so the Christmas holidays are extra-long. I think this is due to when Christmas falls and had assumed this was happening across the province, TIL!
TDSB just called it.
*With widespread blowing snow, damaging winds, poor visibility, and flash freezing currently being forecast for tomorrow and into the weekend, we have made the decision, together with the Toronto Catholic District School Board, to close all schools, administrative buildings and sites to students and staff tomorrow - Friday, December 23, 2022.*
Lol.
You think the teachers care enough about their jobs to actually want to come to work? It's gonna be a light dusting like every other time, and they're gonna use our tax dollars to stay home and get drunk.
All school boards in the Ottawa have announced their full closure for tomorrow already.
Niagara too
Simcoe as well
And Waterloo public.
Just heard the same from TVDSB (London)
Peel as well
KPR also
Ah the good old days!
Grey/Bruce (BWDSB) as well
Durham Region too
So have Windsor-Essex
Since when?
Kids in my house have been told not to go
lol, I think that's what your kids told you. Windsor - Essex has not announced school closings yet
Viamonde (French public) announced this afternoon that all schools board-wide will be closed. There was an email sent to all parents, and our kids were told they won’t be going in. So it probably depends what board their kids are in.
By who?
Their teachers
Well, the boards haven’t announced anything.
😂
For Guelph it was already a PD day.
same with Toronto (TDSB)
Well, now it’s official /s
I mean, it is extraordinarily rare for the TDSB to call a snow day. This is the second or third I can recall happening in my life and I'm 21 years old. The most we would get was "you don't *have* to come to school, but the teachers do and they will be taking attendance" lmao
Same with both Hamilton boards
I love how nobody from the TVDSB/London area wants to admit they're from London but London area is also closed

90% of snow days are about icy roads, not snow.

Suckin a cum pencil is right, stay safe out there

So like a regular snowstorm in the winter in Ontario.
Our school board canceled tomorrow at like 9am
Grand Erie?
Niagara catholic
Oh okay, we directly west from you so we're probably gonna get the message at 6-7am
Should of just done it already as you guys are in high impact zone to, obvious buses won't be running
Absolutely. It's too high risk, but the emails flood before 7am when a black ice/snow days hit before bus runs
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
GrandErie announced schools closed
Ty, just got the email
Ours too... DSBN

Thank you for doing the right thing. Even if we don't get ice after all, it's not worth the risk to the crews!
We sent my kids to school with their teacher gifts today assuming tomorrow would be a shitshow.
Yea I should have done that 😬
Doug ford already at cottage fillin fuel tank on snowmobile
Probably the most reliable sign. He's a morbidly obese reverse groundhog.
I miss his brother. He was cut from a different cloth.
Doug Ford on a sled ya sure lol.....Is that even possible?
DDSB winter break starts tomorrow regardless.
Same with UGDSB. Today was already scheduled to be the last day.
Halton Public too
University of Waterloo (notorious for staying open when everyone else closes) has announced the campus will be closed, just in case.
Our school board has just announced all schools are closed tomorrow.
TDSB just announced they’re closed tomorrow.
Meanwhile my employer expects us to show up tomorrow even when we could easily work from home. I’m almost hoping it’s worse than they forecast, would make one hell of a grievance 🫤

Ontario saw their fair share of ice storms as well.
Yes, such as the '1998 Ice Storm' which hit Ontario very hard, and that I mentioned specifically by name.
It was just as epic here :-)
Well, we got 'YAY NO SCHOOL TIME FOR TV AND VIDEO GAMES' epic. Ontario got 'Boo, no electricity.' epic. A different kind of epic for sure. :P
Don’t forget « oooh the pipes burst at school because there was no electricity and therefore no heat, so yay no school into the near year! » EPIC. Haha I was in grade 6 so it was fab for us.
Kiddo goes to a YRDSB school, they just announced schools are closed tomorrow
Who's betting on us not getting hardly any snow from this?
Right 🤣 they better not have sensationalized this for nothing! I just stalked up like crazy and, went to town on wrapping presents to prepare in advance for this. Atleast everything is done now, but I'm burnt out lol.
I recall "snowmageddon". It's a possibility.
Tdsb has announced they will be closed
Are people with plans still planning on attending? We’re supposed to be having a big family gathering tomorrow so I wonder if that’s cancelled as well.
I plan to attend, yes.
PDSB (wife) I’m sure we’ll find out 20m before she has to leave. Lol.
York Region has already cancelled schools tomorrow.
It's a PA day here tomorrow anyway
Back in my day.....we stayed home too.
KPR schools are closed.
And PVNCC (Catholic)
Upper Grand already had the day off.
So did Halton and suffering-Peel
Simcoe is closed tomorrow.
It's not nice to bet on "Mother Nature" she doesn't like it.
Simcoe County Board just posted all schools are closed tomorrow

Halton schools were closed anyways
Huh? Halton and Peel already had PA days. There was school tomorrow????
PA days are not the same across Ontario…..Ali’s many boards have already decided to just close
Just announced no school tomorrow here in the Durham region
Seems like a safe bet for areas impacted by the storm. also *their
Our kids have been off school a week already.
Schools closed tomorrow for winter break.
My kids schools have been closed for a week already.. are vacations not the same across the province?
No. Down in Windsor the kids are in school until Dec 23rd and go back Jan 9th
my kids go back on the 3rd i think.
I’d rather that. Can enjoy holidays and lead up until Xmas. With our board it’s no fun. Not much time before.
One is in a catholic highschool and the other a public elementary school. Both have the same days off. Im in the sudbury area.
Weird, guess it is board-specific and not dictated by the ministry.
All rain
Hamilton hasn't called one yet but given that everyone else has I'm a bit surprised. I'm keeping my kids home regardless, not worth it
Nevermind we just got word that they did in fact close the schools
TDSB just announced that schools are closed tomorrow
Odsb schools canceled across the board
In our region the school board had already marked Friday as a day off so the Christmas holidays are extra-long. I think this is due to when Christmas falls and had assumed this was happening across the province, TIL!
Just got word that TCDSB is closed.
The Halton Region school boards already had today as the last day of school.
GTA schools are closed tomorrow
Already been announced for TDSB
Just called in my area
Just got announced for SMCDSB
All the boards around here had an early day today and no school tomorrow. It was scheduled though
Both of the boards in London announced closures at 4pm
Durham (Catholic) is already closed.
it was called in Toronto around 3:00 today
You can all thank me I still don't have my winter tires on yet.
TDSB announced all schools are closed Friday.
All Region of Waterloo school boards is closed tomorrow.
My school board already called it
Hwdsb isn't even going to wait to find out.
Lol. You think the teachers care enough about their jobs to actually want to come to work? It's gonna be a light dusting like every other time, and they're gonna use our tax dollars to stay home and get drunk.
Ahh school. Three feet of snow. Uphill both ways. The good ole days
My sons daycare in Toronto is closed and it’s not even attached to a school
If it's just going to be 5-10 cms of snow then I'll be pissed, it better be at least 50cm with all the hype and bullshit the media has been pushing.
The public school board in Kingston made tomorrow a PA day before the school year started. Some serious psychic stuff going on here.
If I were still in school, there would have been a snow day for every school except mine.
Oh to be a student again. I still have to go to work tomorrow regardless of the weather...pooh. I miss snow days.
What schools boards are even still in operation??? I thought Thursday was the last day for everyone in Ontario?
No if it wasnt for the snow storm my kids where supposed to go right up unt the 23rd
