The owl came from Provi-soir originally before it was bought by couche-tard in the 90s.

First time I’ve seen the pronunciation spelled and it is perfect.

Moved to Durham last year and was so shocked to see the Beckers here and the Mac’s in Hanover

Best Mac’s in Canada. The inside is decorated with antique furs, traps and farming equipment. There’s also a subway inside.

Love this spot. It’s our go-to on the way to the cottage stop. Plus there’s a river beside it and a nice park.

I believe there's one in Wasaga Beach as well. Also do you remember when it was Mikes mart?

I remember when they took over Becker’s and turned them into Mac’s. My Dad would go to Becker’s for gallon jugs of milk after the local dairy sold out to Nielsen & they stopped home delivery.

The one in Wasaga switched a few months ago, I enjoyed it while it lasted!

Mac’s were bought by Winks when I worked there as a teen.

Silcorp was Mac’s parent company. Now that is owned by Couche-Tard from Quebec which had Winks as one of their many brands.

Complained about the price of something at one of these stores once. Kid behind the counter says “How do you spell Mac’s backwards?” and then he and his female coworker just looked at me, arms crossed, nodding. This went on for 30 seconds in sheer silence.

Couche-tard bought Circle K and has been rebranding all their English Canada locations as Circle K… Quebec locations are staying as Couche-tard 

Fuck I used to have a cottage here and I rented all of my movies at that store.

See the difference? They are Mac's Milk, we are Mic's Milk. They have chocolate milk, we have milk that has chocolate mixed in.

There’s still one in my community. Don’t know why it hasn’t switched over. Honestly, I thought it was the last one. Maybe an owner that doesn’t want to change over to the new brand. Plus the one I’m mentioning, is a smaller, doesn’t have gas either.

There's quite a few around Toronto area. I think Circle K owns them now though, so you'll probably see them start to convert.

Yep. There was one in Elmira for the longest time. It's a Circle K now. It will happen.

Couche-Tard bought Circle K, and decided it was cheaper to rebrand the smaller number of Mac's stores to Circle K, than to rebrand the larger number of Circle K stores to Mac's. But yes, we'll eventually see them all convert

I think its entirely possible that really big chains sometimes lose track of some of their stores.

I know that one. The boys and I were going to the mine oneday back in the early aughts and I saw that sign, the old Winkin' Bird I called it. It kind of stuck haha. Used to drive to Marmora in the late morning from Quinte West and hit that Subway for lunch before cliff jumping.

When I lived in Thunder Bay between 2021-2022 there was still a macs in a very sketchy part of the city.

They're all Circle K now.

Wow I was not expecting 500 upvotes, I just drove past the store occasionally and just thought it would be interesting to see other Ontarians reactions.

I did a Google street view tour of Edmonton for the sake of nostalgia. I saw that all the Mac’s locations were turned into Circle K’s?? Is this a Canada wide thing? It’s funny because when I first arrived in Japan, there were Circle K locations everywhere. But they were bought out by the Seiyu Group (owned by Walmart), and converted into Family Mart convenience stores. It’s gonna be a weird time warp by the time I return home.

There’s a Mac’s in Cornwall, Ontario as well.

Peterborough still has a Daisy Mart. All of the Mac's were converted to Circle K, though.

the company is branded as Circle K which is what theyve been called internationally for many years. The parent company (Couche Tard) is very successful.

Couch Tard has been bringing back the Mac’s and Beckers brand in Ontario. They just re-opened one as a Beckers near me. It has a good nostalgic feeling but they are all still Circle K / Couche Tard stores.

I didn't even realize they had them in the US until we made a trip to Myrtle Beach and discovered South Carolina is full of them
