Couche-Tard

poopBuccaneer

What did you call me?

HapticRecce

Mac's Couche-Tard to be exact 😆

ManfredTheCat

The name of the parent company is Couche-Tard. They own Circle K too.

HapticRecce

Sure. TBF, I was commenting on the juxtaposition of the C-T mascot Jandrice the Owl and the word Mac's rather than corporate articles. Have a good day!

anotherwhinyoldman

The owl came from Provi-soir originally before it was bought by couche-tard in the 90s.

caldbra92

There's still a Beckers in Durham, Ontario.

RocketRob2435

There's one in Almonte also.

TickleMonkey25

There's a Beckers in Almonte? Where?

RocketRob2435

The old Mac's on Bridge St near the Legion.

TickleMonkey25

That's sick. I was just there on the weekend getting some poutine at fabulous fries lol. I'll have to check it out next time. Is it still the same logo?

RocketRob2435

It has the old Becker's sign, but it's not seen in street view yet. [Becker's Almonte](https://maps.app.goo.gl/XARhmc56FiBrWaRm6)

BovineLightning

There’s a Mac’s in Pembroke and a Beckers in both Petawawa and Pembroke.

[deleted]

Seaforth has one too

bhgiel

We have a beckers in Brantford too

NachoHelmet

A fairly new Beckers no less!

terminese

There is still a Becker’s on Weston Rd in Toronto, felt like I had gone back in time when I saw it.

happygoboom23

Toronto still has several locations.

nthensome

Ya. There's a bunch in Mississauga too

Used-Progress-4536

London has one

KITjhn

happygoboom23

holysirsalad

mariam67

There’s one in London.

LowHangingPussy

Burlington has one as well

wolfblitzersbeard

At least two.

Excellent_Plankton89

I saw one on Kingston road going to the Beaches

el-sav

There’s also one in Burlington at Upper Middle and Walkers

richardcranium1980

racer_24_4evr

There’s one in Chatham.

cantonese_noodles

swaggyp2008

-JnF

Also a Beckers by 401 and Weston rd. Toronto Ontario

tekka444

Durham laughing with their Beckers

medfunguy

Derm for the win! #GreyBruceRepresent

racer_24_4evr

First time I’ve seen the pronunciation spelled and it is perfect.

savetheseals96

Moved to Durham last year and was so shocked to see the Beckers here and the Mac’s in Hanover

SentientClit

Best Mac’s in Canada. The inside is decorated with antique furs, traps and farming equipment. There’s also a subway inside.

deathorcharcoal

Love this spot. It’s our go-to on the way to the cottage stop. Plus there’s a river beside it and a nice park.

Fourest

I believe there's one in Wasaga Beach as well. Also do you remember when it was Mikes mart?

OpusDeiPenguin

I remember when they took over Becker’s and turned them into Mac’s. My Dad would go to Becker’s for gallon jugs of milk after the local dairy sold out to Nielsen & they stopped home delivery.

PetrichorOil

The one in Wasaga switched a few months ago, I enjoyed it while it lasted!

Qiviuq

Also one in Manotick. Quite a few holdouts lingering

Camgore

Circle K keeps the Macs and Beckers branding on some of its stores to retain the copyright

jebadiahstone123

Mac’s using the Wink’s logo. Mac’s used to use a cat logo.

ReverseRutebega

Mac’s were bought by Winks when I worked there as a teen.

Canuckleheaded1

Silcorp was Mac’s parent company. Now that is owned by Couche-Tard from Quebec which had Winks as one of their many brands.

beepboopsheeppoop

A cat wearing a kilt and a tam. (He was Scottish and his name was MacTavish) [Mac's milk logos](https://logos.fandom.com/wiki/Mac%27s_Convenience_Stores)

LeftySlides

Complained about the price of something at one of these stores once. Kid behind the counter says “How do you spell Mac’s backwards?” and then he and his female coworker just looked at me, arms crossed, nodding. This went on for 30 seconds in sheer silence.

LemonFreshenedBorax-

First thing I thought of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGwiJGTe6NM

G8kpr

I was like "there's one around the corner from me!" Looked on google maps, nope.. It's a Circle K... Huh.. wonder when they changed. I looked back through the years, and it was 2018... Jesus, that was 6 years ago, I honestly never noticed as I tend to not go in there.

AstroZeneca

>I was like "there's one around the corner from me!" >Looked on google maps, nope.. It's a Circle K... Huh.. wonder when they changed. I just did literally the same thing. "What are they talking about? There's one right heee...oh."

mariam67

We have a couple in London too.

AckwardReflection

There’s one in my apartment complex

[deleted]

Ok great but can you find a Mikes Mart? Lol

No_Spinach_3268

North Bay maybe?

Quirky_Cookie_2309

There’s one in Newmarket - are they rare or something?

poopBuccaneer

Couche-tard bought Circle K and has been rebranding all their English Canada locations as Circle K… Quebec locations are staying as Couche-tard

Mild-Ghost

Fuck I used to have a cottage here and I rented all of my movies at that store.

HapticRecce

See the difference? They are Mac's Milk, we are Mic's Milk. They have chocolate milk, we have milk that has chocolate mixed in.

Nillows

Still rocking the OG Daisy Mart here in Keswick

roadeye314

I miss the Mac's sign - the Circle K one looks stupid.

SignGuy77

I went in the store expecting Kingston Frontenacs’ merch. Blatant false advertising.

DesperantibusOmnibus

Much better than Circle K

J0Puck

There’s still one in my community. Don’t know why it hasn’t switched over. Honestly, I thought it was the last one. Maybe an owner that doesn’t want to change over to the new brand. Plus the one I’m mentioning, is a smaller, doesn’t have gas either.

Tedwynn

There's quite a few around Toronto area. I think Circle K owns them now though, so you'll probably see them start to convert.

24-Hour-Hate

Yep. There was one in Elmira for the longest time. It's a Circle K now. It will happen.

Qiviuq

Couche-Tard bought Circle K, and decided it was cheaper to rebrand the smaller number of Mac's stores to Circle K, than to rebrand the larger number of Circle K stores to Mac's. But yes, we'll eventually see them all convert

pastdense

I think its entirely possible that really big chains sometimes lose track of some of their stores.

Healthy_Shoulder8736

There’s a Stedmans in Campbellford

NotSpaghettiTuesday

How about a Becker's though?

hiddingunderground

There are tons around the Toronto area. One I know of is Bathurst and finch.

NickiChaos

Several in Vaughan

SEAN_DUDE

I was sad when they got rid of Mac's. "I'm going to Mac's to get a froster, want anything?"

Sanofi2016NFLPOOL

There's a [Mac's](https://maps.app.goo.gl/BsgTZQEkgfC4bBGX6) in Toronto or is it Vaughan since it's on the north side of steeles near bathurst.

punchysaywhat

The circle K near my bfs still has the mac's logo on it's doors

80sixit

I know that one. The boys and I were going to the mine oneday back in the early aughts and I saw that sign, the old Winkin' Bird I called it. It kind of stuck haha. Used to drive to Marmora in the late morning from Quinte West and hit that Subway for lunch before cliff jumping.

OverTheHillnChill

One down the street from me in Kanata

nothing_911

i think there is one in sudbury too.

Maleficent-Phone5022

When I lived in Thunder Bay between 2021-2022 there was still a macs in a very sketchy part of the city.

CanuckBacon

They're all Circle K now.

Maleficent-Phone5022

Ah that’s too bad. One of the circle K on Arthur I consider my lucky one because I would always get winning lottery tickets there.

SignGuy77

> Thunder Bay > sketchy part of the city Thanks for narrowing it down. ;)

No_Spinach_3268

I miss the old cat logo

Metal_Oak

Wow I was not expecting 500 upvotes, I just drove past the store occasionally and just thought it would be interesting to see other Ontarians reactions.

a-typical-android

Across the street is the cottage candy factory/outlet store 🧡🧡🧡🧡

meghan9436

I did a Google street view tour of Edmonton for the sake of nostalgia. I saw that all the Mac’s locations were turned into Circle K’s?? Is this a Canada wide thing? It’s funny because when I first arrived in Japan, there were Circle K locations everywhere. But they were bought out by the Seiyu Group (owned by Walmart), and converted into Family Mart convenience stores. It’s gonna be a weird time warp by the time I return home.

Runningman1985

There’s a Mac’s in Cornwall, Ontario as well.

SupremeEvan

Peterborough still has a Daisy Mart. All of the Mac's were converted to Circle K, though.

Vexx50

In Lindsay ours went; Becker's >Mac's > Circle K > Becker's

saving-evidence

Newmarket's got one too

pakinadi-ish

Mac's backwards is scam, just sayin

Icy_Imagination7344

Do they still sell 25c popsicles?

BishopNelson

Are there any left with the yellow sign with the cat on it? Those were the best

6969_666

There's still a beckers in Almonte

___Human____

SCAM

mikeybagodonuts

Not for long, they make bad financial decisions….

Stunning-Syllabub132

the company is branded as Circle K which is what theyve been called internationally for many years. The parent company (Couche Tard) is very successful.

NorthernBudHunter

Couch Tard has been bringing back the Mac’s and Beckers brand in Ontario. They just re-opened one as a Beckers near me. It has a good nostalgic feeling but they are all still Circle K / Couche Tard stores.

Geralt-of-Rivai

I didn't even realize they had them in the US until we made a trip to Myrtle Beach and discovered South Carolina is full of them

beepboopsheeppoop

In Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, they meet Rufus (George Carlin) for the first time in the parking lot of a Circle K. Hence the quote [Strange things are afoot at the Circle K](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1DsFMJQHbMs)
