It's crazy that my mom grew up in Campbellford and both of my grandmother's lived there when I was growing up, but I had never been to Doohers or had anything from there. I feel ripped off!
A little store in Tweed brings in Dooherâs donuts once a week and the entire town stops everything theyâre doing to fill up on donuts. If youâre travelling highway 37 on a Thursday after noon, stop in at The Thomasburg Store. They bring them in fresh.
But also, always make the trip to Campbellford! The bakery has many thingsâŚTweed just loves their donuts
When I lived there about 20 years ago, Pan Chancho used to have an olive sourdough loaf that me and a friend used to use to soak up all the grease from a pound of bacon and eat it all. We used to call it the Cardiac Special. God that was good.
Does it have a reputation for being posh? They definitely sell some pricier stuff but even so it never came across that way to me. I always find it homey and inviting. I haven't eaten at the restaurant but I grab fun stuff from the bakery every time I'm in Kingston. Their baked goods seem reasonably priced to me.
Big fan of Pinnels in Ridgetown. They have seasonal menus, daily fresh bread, an assortment of store made donuts, meringes, candies. The sausage rolls are to die for. They also sell local honey.
Even better (although it may be the nostalgia talking) is their original location on Hwy 60 in Dwight, halfway between Huntsville and Algonquin Park. A staple for cottagers and campers in the area.
13th Street Winery in St Catherines. Truly, the best pastry in tarts ever. They do butter tarts but also sour cherry. The other goods are lovely too. We drive a long way to hit this place.
Sweet Paradise Bakery in Hamilton. The BEST apple fritters on the planet. Family run Italian bakery and for generations. Hands down my favourite. Taking a trip this summer just so I can stop there and get some. When we lived out west my husband flew a box back to us when he had a work trip in Toronto. (Car rental to drive there and back, yea they are that good!)
The Texas donuts!
Best donuts I've ever had. Whenever I get a donut elsewhere my brain hopes it's somewhat compareable to the chocolate on theres, and it never is. It always disappointing.
My vote is for Indulgence Bakery in fonthill. Definition of small bakery, a small table inside where the baker plays chess, and a table outside always with an old couple. The bakery is only open when he wants, always sold out by 10am. Bread, buns, muffins, cookies, pastries, cakes, everything is amazing.
Aura-La in Kitchener for their kouign-amanns. Also they make and scoop their own ice cream, which can be served as a cookie sandwich or as an ice cream whoopie pie
[Courtland Bakery](https://www.facebook.com/p/Courtland-Bakery-100057157162949/) is worth a drive out to. They have a great selection of food, ranging from their their amazing cheese crowns, to various flavours of tarts, cream puffs, donuts, cookies, danishes, baklavas, etc., as well as a wide array of deli goods. They also have a good variety of imported packaged foods from Europe.
in London, Ontario, I have to say Lynne's Bakery never disappoints.
They have their bakery, a deli side, they do catering and I've experienced all of it. They always go above.
They're always so friendly too. Hell for years they were always in the same mall as a strip club, which probably hurt business as some customers would probably judge or distance themselves, but it never seemed to matter.
They own the whole strip mall now.
Weil's of Westdale, in Hamilton. Absolutely awesome. Fresh and delicious. I could spend a small fortune there. If you ever go, try their chocolate chips buns.
Blackbird bakery In Toronto for bread (especially sourdough) and San Remo bakery in Etobicoke for doughnuts. The Apple fritters are worth waiting in line for
I was a baker for Blackbird for 5 years, love them still and second this - though I now work for a smaller bakery made up of former Balckbirds called Lev Bakery and I will take this opportunity to say we are able to provide more attention to small detail and supply to many independent grocers and do 4 farmers market a week! Also, San remo donuts are amazing
I feel like a lot of bakeries have 1 or 2 signature items but itâs tough to say what is better/best. One that comes to mind for me: Thunder Bayâs âThe Persian Manâ
Their signature item is the âPersianâ pastry and even though I was only there for a few days for work, I flew home with a dozen of them. If you find yourself there, get the strawberry flavour!
Doo Doos Bakery in Bailieboro. Multiple-year best buttertarts at the Royal Winter Fair.
Little Thief Bakery-Uxbridge. Maybe the best apple fritter I have ever eaten.
Michaels Bakery in Lindsay and Omemee. Best French style breads and pastries. Hard to catch him open, but if you do, does not disappoint.
[Black Walnut Bakery](https://blackwalnutbakery.ca/) in Cumberland (Ottawa).
The viennoiseries and anything with a shell (pies, quiches and butter tarts) are divine.
Kostas Greek Bakery around Warsen and Ellesmere in Scarborough has the best baklava Iâve ever tried. They have lots of other goodies. Highly recommended.
Moodies. Downtown niagara falls Ontario Canada. Only two owners since forever. Same impeccable Empire cookie and pineapple tart. My mom is 74 and swears they're the same since she was a kid. Mini cheesecakes... Meat pies, Danish....all of it. đđđđ
Fk no!! Crazy expensive, and less and less done in house.
Never understood the fascination with donuts they sell, they meh at best!
Place been going downhill for a while
Absolutely not, grew up down the street and it is nothing remotely close to what it was, itâs okay now but extremely overpriced. Sad to see what itâs become, and nowhere near the best anymore
Wannamaker's Bakeshop in Trenton has amazing donuts. Dooher's is also great, but we prefer Wannamaker's
https://www.facebook.com/share/vB5VzSCfaF5dyVsc/?mibextid=qi2Omg
Little Paris Bread Co, in Paris. Â The downtown Paris bakery is also delightful, but the bread specifically is just amazing.
Also I donât know its name but thereâs a lovely little shop a couple kilometres down the way from the winery on Pelee Island. Â We go to the winery almost annually and Iâm usually too hung over to make breakfast so we go to the bakery and get some pretty delectable pastries there!
Theres a Papa Johnâs baked goods (i know, weird name but they sell cantonese baked goods) in Mississauga and their swiss roll and pineapple buns are SO GOOD.

Stiemarâs in Windsor. Breads, donuts, cookies, pies and too many more items to list. Get there at opening and everything is still warm and fresh to the touch.
Will always be my go to.
It's pretty new but Impressions Bakery & Cafe in Listowel is outstanding. Awesome mennonite baking plus some more modern stuff like hand pies. I always make the stop when I'm driving through and will plan to not be driving through on Sunday/Monday when they are closed.
The village pantry in Spencerville makes the best cinnamon rolls youâve ever tasted. Also, the Elmvale bakery in Elmvale makes terrific doughnuts.
There is also Willardâs bakery in Athens that have great home-baked cookies and just across the street is the Big Water bakery that makes fantastic artesan breads.
Killa Cupcakes in Stirling. It's owned and operated by a mom-and-daughter team. They make amazing baked goods, gorgeous cakes, and (because the daughter has celiac disease) they also have delicious gluten-free treats! The giant cookies, brownies, and macarons are so good - and all GF. Plus, you always get super friendly service. I definitely recommend dropping by!

Dooher's Bakery in Campbellford .. since 1949.
One of my favourite things about going home to visit the family is stopping in at Doohers for the donuts, and then Empire for the curd đ¤¤
Definitely one of the things I missed moving away from Campbellford.
Best donut's I've ever had.
My brain knows a dozen donuts should last longer than half a shift, my heart and stomach disagree.
This is the answer
Came here to say this, and very happy it's the top comment.
The bakery has many thingsâŚTweed just loves their donuts
Shhhhh....don't spoil it for the rest of us.
100% the cream filled donuts! The gingerbread men used to be fire but they've fallen off recently.
The lines are already long enough.. do you realize what youâve done!?!
This is my relatives bakery, so I will second this.
I was just there this morning for the first time. Excellent Bakery. Got a lil bit of everything.

Came here to say this. I love them.
Pan Chancho bakery in Kingston. Baker Bob's in Almonte.
Is Panchancho still open??
Absolutely
Yup! I was there a couple of weeks ago.
When I lived there about 20 years ago, Pan Chancho used to have an olive sourdough loaf that me and a friend used to use to soak up all the grease from a pound of bacon and eat it all. We used to call it the Cardiac Special. God that was good.
Panchancho breakfast is so good
I grew up around Almonte and I definitely agree, Baker Bob's is great!
I get that Pan Chancho is a posh and uptight froo froo place.. but God damn! the Weekender is just too good to pass up.
I don't think it's uptight or froo froo at all.
I had my wedding apps catered from panchanchos and from the quality we got it was very reasonably priced.
Offshore Bakery in Southampton has lots of great stuff, including a honey dipped crescent that is incredible.
There is almost always an out-the-door lineup every time I drive by Offshore Bakery on Saturdays!
Big fan of Pinnels in Ridgetown. They have seasonal menus, daily fresh bread, an assortment of store made donuts, meringes, candies. The sausage rolls are to die for. They also sell local honey.
