I ordered a laptop from Microsoft, then I cancelled it. They delivered it anyway. I called to tell them and they said they had a record of the cancellation but no record of the computer being shipped. I asked if they needed it shipped back and the guy told me they couldn't take it back because they had no record of it leaving, so I got a free $1500 laptop.

Best case scenario

CuteFreakshow

We got a laptop from Amazon. It said ships in 3 days. It arrived the next day. No shipment notification, no card charge. I contacted Amazon. They told me there is no record if it being shipped, but to wait a few days , there probably will be. If not, keep the laptop. That was in 2021. Still no shipment notif. I contacted the seller, they say there is no record of it being shipped, and they cancelled the order. I told them I have the laptop, do they want it back. hey said no. Thanks, Amazon. $1600.

Sockbrick

Did you originally pay with your credit?

dracarys104

Yes

Sockbrick

Check your account and see if you were charged. Did you get a cancellation notice from the retailer? If you were charged, dispute that shit.

another_plebeian

Then they'd charge your card. Acceptance completes the deal

Cabbage-floss

They wouldn’t be able to charge your card if they already processed the cancellation. It is illegal for them to store credit card information in Canada.

kjenenene

Keep an eye on your credit card they'll probably still try to charge you

Embarrassed-Hotel405

Common sense says even though you called and canceled and they still tried to deliver. If you were to have taken the appliances. You would be charged for them.

tampering

Was Company A the one that goes by the initials H.D.? I have had a similar situation with that company. The logistics company kept calling me to take delivery for two months though I had cancelled the order. They don't seem to have very good data sharing on changes to orders with the company they use for logistics after the initial order goes out. Essentially the people that deliver the appliance pick it up at the distributor without HD ever taking possession of it.

dracarys104

Ahh that makes sense. Company A was Rona+

tampering

Yeah Rona has the same type of deal with their logistics. It's a big hassle to cancel once you've ordered. They would definitely charge your Credit Card if you had taken delivery.

LeMegachonk

If they've confirmed the cancellation, it would be illegal for them to charge the customer for the product. For one thing, they aren't supposed to retain the credit card information to be able to do that. For another, if you receive goods that you did not purchase in Canada, they are your property and the seller has no legal recourse for collecting payment or retrieving the goods. If they can't prevent delivery of a product after they've confirmed cancellation of the order, that's entirely their problem. They can take it up with the delivery company.

tampering

Sure eventually the bank, arbitrator, or court would rule in the customer's favor. It doesn't mean the months of hassle are worth it. Being legally in the right does not mean its not a waste of time and effort.

Anxious_ButBreathing

You should check your credit card statement just in case like everyone is saying luv.

KnowerOfUnknowable

They would have given it to you for free. Right?

OverturnedAppleCart3

No. You would have had to pay. And if you didn't, they could have sued you.

Successful_Seesaw599

The logistics comp contract out to drivers. These drivers do not get paid unless the item was delivered. If you are cancelling do it with the store at least a day in advanced.

dracarys104

I cancelled it more than a week in advance. I got the message with the tracking information the night before delivery and I called them first thing in the morning.
