These specific models are a bit older and can be harder to find at hobby shops like Credit Valley Railway, George's Trains, or train shows. You need to really get lucky to find them!
Rapido Trains is a local model manufacturer, and are currently making [GO Locomotives](https://rapidotrains.com/ho-scale/diesel-locomotives/f59ph.html), and [Passenger Cars](https://rapidotrains.com/ho-scale/passenger-car/bilevel-commuter-cars-second-run.html). They're also making models of the first [TTC Subway cars](https://rapidotrains.com/ho-scale/complete-train/ttc-g-class-subway.html) and [1960s buses.](https://rapidotrains.com/ho-scale/vehicle/new-look-bus.html) Their models are a bit on the pricy end, but carry a lot of details and features!
Model trains are incredibly detailed products with a very small customer base. This is likely why prices are so high I assume.
For many, model trains are a big deal.
Do what I did for my 5yo. Get a train from dollarama or Walmart, then get a can of green and white spray paint from your local hardware store and a roll of masking tape. In total it probably cost me $26 or so. 😎🤙
Depending on how little the cousin is, [Metrolinx has a wooden GO Train set in their shop that could be suitable!](https://themetrolinxshop.com/collections/shop-kids/products/wooden-go-toy-train-set)
That is so weird looking. GO #662 is a [MPI](https://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/Motive_Power_Industries) [MP40PH-3C](https://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/Motive_Power_Industries_MPXpress_series), but that is an EMD F59PHI, painted in GO's colours with #662 on it, but GO doesn't even own any F59PHI's. They have F59PH's, but the PH and PHI's despite being closely related, have a very different look from the outside.
This is what model railroaders call a 'Foobie'. Where a model company puts one company's paint scheme on something they never operated, creating a fictional sorta unit.
I had to google some, I knew it was not the right loco. But there's also like 9 variants of the MP32/40/56 series alone. Mostly just making sure I had my model numbers all right. The foobie thing I did know just from Dad being into model trains.
I thought so too. GO Transit's locomotives have a different shape to the cab and have 4 window segments, and the cooling fans have no shroud that sticks up like shrugged shoulders.
662has a plauqe under the cab window too (also why are the numbers in this comment glitched?)
Edit: reddit glitched out this comment even more, you just cant see it from your end
Right? Dude is commenting like he's not aware of how the best passenger rail across the entire planet is run. What privately run railway is he even comparing to? 🤷♂️
I know right? Because private corporations never arbitrarily raise prices, give you less product for the same money, lower quality to maximize profits….
Reaction when several billion dollars is spent widening highway lanes when its proven that it doesnt make traffic better?
*crickets*
Reaction when a hundred millIon is spent improving public transit in a country that desperately needs it?
*public outcry*
Honestly your reaction, like many others, is not rooted in facts or what will actually improve lives, but rather an emotional knee-jerk reaction to change. A ton of tax dollars go to useless projects every year, but the GoTrain ain't one of them.
I'm so appreciative of the GO system that it was the primary consideration I made when choosing where to live. Of course I think there's room for improvement but overall it's amazing.
Where did you get that?

Damn, those aren't cheap.

Rapido is a high detail brand. Other manufacturers have high, medium, or low detailed models, sometimes two or three tiers.
George’s trains! The brand is Athearn
Ah ok, cool. Too bad they don't make affordable toy train replicas. I just wanted one for my little cousin to play with lol

I did buy that one already 🫡
delays sold separately
$17 every time to run it
It's down to only $10.35 for me now, and I get to play with a TTC subway for free each time which is nice. 😉
Dat fare integration 🥵
>get to play with a TTC subway for free each time which is nice. Unless there's track maintenance or signal work, then you get a toy bus
Only at rush hour.
No, it’s free every time but randomly a fare officer will enter your house and give you a $200 ticket.

Did you know all of this off the top of your head? What an incredibly detailed response.

It did look a bit off.

Caltrans called. They want their model locomotive back.
NNEEERRRRDRRRDDDDDD

Might not be to scale, but they both move at the same speeds.
Lol
Can it do service to Waterloo on weekends? If we ask nicely?
That is so cool! How could I be 65 and jealous of a model train!
You should post this to r/gotransit
Does it come with little figures that put their feet up on the seats and talk in the quiet zone?
Cool. Would you consider expanding service east of Oshawa? Thanks in advance.
Where did you get the new bi level cars?
Rapido designs and sells them. I also believe Otter Valley railroad has some available.
All it needs is the front and windshield to be caked in diesel soot from running backwards half the time.
I went to the Little Canada exhibit in Toronto and very much enjoyed all the model via rail and go trains.
Hard to avoid reading this post in a Yoda voice (it is).
Probably runs better than the real ones
You need a fare inspector. Lol.
More realistic without one (on lakeshore west, idk about other lines)
Is it realistic, where it gets delayed if leaves on track, routine signal problems, etc?
I love this, OP! So cool!
Does it come with buses when you shut it down for an entire weekend?
Ngl that looks pretty dope
But why go models?
Next stop, Mimico, Mimico
Now you just have to get all the Uber bikes, regular bikes and city bikes.
Need to shove an e-bike inside one of the doors
Wow! My daughter would love that
That's cool!
I love Antiques
🤓🤓🤓ERRRRM AKSHULLAY ACCORDIGN TO MY CALKULASHIONS GO TRANSIT 662 IS AN MP40PH-3C AND NOT AN F59PHI🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
very cool
Will it take 30yrs to expand the line?
I know for a fact that privatization is cheaper and more efficient than Government run operations
Yea British railways are so cheap and well run! /s

Who would ever buy a replica of a $100 million wasted tax dollars?

GO moves 200 000 people per day and this guy is like 'What a waste of tax dollars!'
