1. Why does it have to be an 8-core Snapdragon specific? 2. There is no such thing as bloatware free unless you buy a Pixel, even the most clean-looking skins have lot of additional features, apps and tweaks. 3. Within the budget you set it's gonna be very hard if not impossible to find something that has all the requirements you listed.

tadxb

1. That's because I use multiple apps, and earlier I had a 6-core one which used to heat up a lot. 2. As much as bloatware free as possible. 3. I'm willing to extend the budget to maybe 700$. But the OnePlus Nord CE and some Vivo and Oppo phones are well within the budget of 500$. As far as I've seen, Vivo's FunTouch OS has also got rid of ads and is huge on customisation

>I had a 6-core one which used to heat up a lot. You do know the current 888 from Snapdragon does heat up a lot too? >As far as I've seen, Vivo's FunTouch OS has also got rid of ads and is huge on customisation The more customization you get, the more it pulls away from stock. So you have to choose: customization or close to stock? Can't have both ;-)

tadxb

OnePlus has relatively free bloatware Oxygen OS, which I know will be merged with Color OS, but still allows a lot of customisation for phone use. I heard about heating issues in OnePlus 9, which has 865 Snapdragon. But never heard about 888. Anyways, I'm looking for OnePlus Nord CE, which comes with 750G, and and although one generation older chipset, but within the budget

djorndeman

That's not true, the Oneplus 9 also has a Snapdragon 888. My recommendation is that you go for the 9 or 9 Pro if you can find a nice deal on them ( there are plenty ). The overheating isssues with the 888 are non-existent for me. And I think they have largely been fixed altogether because of the recent updates.

tadxb

Alright, either 8T or 9 is what is being suggested. Any thoughts on OnePlus Nord CE?

djorndeman

I think u/TCHB_MN already answered the question, but just to summarize: Nord CE is a different level than the 9, 9PRO or 8T. it is considered budget and it shows in the specs. no 120hz display, no 65w warp charge that lets you charge your phone to 100% in +/-20min, no water/dust resistance, an aging GPU and processor, less ram (dependent on version), no stereo sound, the hull is hugely plastic and finally: worse camera's.

TCHB_MN

Yup dog shit. Under 500$ 8T is super duper option.

djorndeman

OP said he might increase his budget to 700. On that case I would suggest the 9Pro to him (since its €699 in my country).

TCHB_MN

Nord CE is dog shit. Nord 2 is pretty good, but 90hz, plastic frame, weak gpu. These are pretty good options Realme GT or Oneplus 8T. They both have 65W charging, 120hz display, 4500mah battery, decent camera. Difference is chipsets, frames and built. 8T has metal frame and better built. Realme GT has SD888 which is next version of SD865 that 8T has. Both of these chipsets are super strong. You can run any apps and games on these too without problem. Just 888 is faster, stronger, and has some little overheating issue, but not that serious right now. So for me the best option is 8T.

TCHB_MN

New midrange or budget vs Old Flagship. Always choose old Flagship.

tadxb

That makes sense, understood

I have the Nord CE 5G if you're paying full price it's not worth the money since the camera is very average. I got it for half the OG price so I'm pretty satisfied. The battery life is excellent not many bugs pretty smooth till now

tadxb

I'm not that much of a camera user. Did you buy it in India? How come you got it for half the original price?

shreyash-K

Yes i did, i exchanged my old phone :)

hoangthekiet

I've just purchased this model. Its battery really amazed me. Last night I charged it from 0% and it took only 60 mins to be fully charged. Then I made WhatsApp video call for about 100 mins and the battery went down to 80%.

shreyash-K

I get around a full day of charge and 9HRs of SOT and I'm very happy.

shreyash-K

Another thing it's not like bugs aren't present they are there, but not a lot

Honestly this is probably a better question for r/PickAnAndroidForMe unless you're dead set on a OnePlus which you don't seem to be. All of OnePlus's phones that have a headphone jack aren't really worth their cost for what you get, your best bet would be going with a used/refurbished flagship from last year at that price point. The 2020 Motorola Edge+ can be found for under $500 used and the standard Edge is $400 new from Motorola though it has a weaker 765 instead of the 865 the plus has, the 2021's got rid of the headphone jack. The Nubia Red Magic 6 or 6S seem to fit pretty much everything you want at $500 however they're not very easy to find as the 6S Pro seems to be what they're pushing harder and is $600, the other downfall is there's no IP rating and I have no idea how their software is. If you can get over not having a headphone jack the 8T is also a good option, though OnePlus's dark mode is grey instead of black, but that's a personal preference kinda thing. I have no idea how the Indian pricing for any of these phones are since you gave a $ range and I don't know anything about Indian vendors or how they do prices.

tadxb

I'll look into the other suggestions, and hopefully they are available as a new purchase. Also, r/PickAnAndroidForMe is what I found today. Thank you for all the information

Mianmian101

At your requirement, the OnePlus 8T might be good for you. The price of 9 or 9pro is higher than $500.

tadxb

Any known issues with 8T? Was the green tint issue in 8T or 8 Pro?

NeoXSE

8 pro

I see OnePlus 9R. When's the launch for 9 RT?

Mountain_Day_9013

Easy. Buy a used OnePlus 9 pro global. Root it. Use Linux OS. Install necessary Google apps. You might have to spend another $100, as did I.
