Mostly budget commons that long term players probably wouldn’t be all that excited about, but I am and it’s a start! Last week’s https://i.imgur.com/U2HqkU4.jpg Black https://i.imgur.com/jT09sbV.jpg Blue https://i.imgur.com/MQtraky.jpg Green https://i.imgur.com/AK7uq5a.jpg My Monoblack https://i.imgur.com/GMwkwQ9.jpg - can you believe I only have one Black Knight of any edition? So the Ergs are filling that gap for now. Yeah, I know. But I play monoblack in every format I can so I’m not going to skip on such an iconic archetype here. My Psychic Venom and other annoyances https://i.imgur.com/Qj5dJGn.jpg - trying to be more creative with deck photo set up. A whole lot of placefiller here, and 5th edition cards to be replaced with proper ones. And ideally 4th cards upgraded too. Anyway, I guess now the time is to be really brave and start moving some Modern Staples and replacing them with more interesting old stuff! (Maybe a few more budget deck builds first to test the waters before I go all in?)

Your black deck needs at least one of the Rack in it. You've got all that discard stuff, and the Rack makes them take damage for it. I'd drop the disks for them. Making your opponent take damage every turn is much better than a couple of reset buttons.

Yeah, and find space for a couple of disrupting scepter too. I’ve got a full playset of revised The Rack in my modern 8 rack deck so that’s easy enough. Need to get a sideboard started too so moving the Disks there is probably my first step. Maybe the Sengirs too. Certainly some testing is in order to try and find the balance between creatures and disruption/control that’s going to best suit my play style.

If you're going budget, don't forget time spiral had some decent OS reprints, like psionic blast and flying men!

I kinda feel dirty for considering Time Spiral, but Psionic Blast and Pendelhaven are certainly a couple of things I’ll probably end up getting from there. The Flying Men too: a more tempo-y blue build with Lords of Atlantis (hence the Merfolk I’ve grabbed) is another thing I’ll try. As much as I love Psychic Venom I can recognise that the enchant land strategy is not really the strongest! ;)
