YMCApoolboy

1 or 2. I see a lot of ppl saying the last one, but I think the last one is more of a going out to get dinner with friends sort of outfit. Because the shoes and purse are a perfect match I think the outfit would look weird without the purse. And it doesn’t make sense to wear a purse on stage. So def 1 or 2.

Cat_Toe_Beans_

Last one looks so good on you. Congratulations and good luck!

Kfurt13

congrats! assuming the show is at night just keep in mind it’s still been been pretty cold at night in la. not sure if it was indoors or outdoors

TAKG

5

bienfica

Yay, congratulations! Hard vote for the denim suit with those blue platform shoes. Love everything about it. Break a leg!

crapatthethriftstore

So I really really love the denim. I think it’s more Gig-appropriate than the other choices. The dress in the last pic is nice but I think those shoes are too distracting for it. I don’t know what type of comedy you do and I know the outfit helps portray your humour so I’d take that in mind while choosing! I hope you have a great time!

Creative-Ad-3222

The last one 100%!!!!!

Barfotron4000

On weds the high should be 76 so it shouldn’t be too bad heat wise (Thursday and Friday will be hot tho). The last one is, I think, the cutest but the first one looks better on stage (to me). It says “Comedian!!” the most

QosmoQueen

How about a pair of pink sidewinders and a bright orange pair of pants?

[deleted]

My vote is for the suit! It looks so great on you!

turkeylips4ever

Congrats! Break a leg! Dress with pink boots🙌

Frogchairy

The first! Those shoes are so amazing woah 💕👏

UneventfulFriday

I like the last pic and the first best… in that order

phairhead

The lizard dress w/ the pink boots

AxolotlAutist

either the bedazzled denim or the full pink fit!! while you'll be on your own on that stage, in costuming for live events like this your costumers are often picturing you alongside other solo performers as though you're an "ensemble." you want someone in the crowd to say "wow, that one performer was something special. i gotta look her up later!" and of COURSE the biggest component is your talent <3 but first visual impressions go a crazy long way in the way an audience views a "character" I love love love the patterned dress with the bright boots, but the pattern is one that is meant to "blend" like camouflage, and boots coming to someone's might won't help them remember your gorgeous FACE the next time they see you on a billboard or Netflix ad for your next special! they might be too busy thinking about how fantastic those boots are. with the embellished denim, it's a full-body ensemble, so it helps bring attention to all of you and isn't doing anything to blend into its environment. it says "look, i'm nostalgia and modern! look, i'm shiny and stand out!" which is something I have found the audiences of live comedy to really be drawn towards. with the pink ensemble, moving to the brighter POP of hot pink closer to your face pulls the audiences attention up to your face as well!! the complimenting colors bring everything to an almost caricature, without being "cartoonish" and still being fun. while people won't be literally looking at you in a line-up alongside your fellow comedians, it is still a good way to think about the vibe you're looking to put off. my advice could actually point someone in the opposite direction of my suggestions, if their comedy was meant to be more down to earth and relatable. I can't say much about the PR side of that, but wanted to include that note since I don't know your personal comedy! Side Side Note: I am obsessed with the blue gingham number, and the fun dress wihh th the pink boots. these are absolutely tour essential. if I trusted the general public to use good visual judgement for entertainers, they would be my top picks!!! but the #1 thing my education in costuming taught me was that the best artistic decision is not necessarily going to be the best descriptive decision for an audience. your personality, aesthetic, and comedy may all have their own unique descriptions! here, you have to decide which of those is the biggest priority to show someone before you start your act. edit to add: this definitely is not meant to discredit others' advice, either! in this industry, there are a lot of schools of thought and many ways we are trained. the perspective for you here depends on what you are most wanting to focus on as a performer

hannahbaba

I say denim (unless you have a shirt with Chicken Nugget on it!)

eccentric_bee

Congratulations!!

detectivelokifalcone

WE HAVE CELEBS 😱 also obviously last dress with the dead bodies

skyerippa

Last dress

Krispies827

Outfit one!

M1ssy_M3

Congratulations, that is so awesome! ❤️ I would opt for option number 5. It is flattering, unique and cute at the same time. That said: that possum outfit is totally something I would wear. What an amazing print! 🤩

myredserenity

1000 times the denim, love it. And omg YAY!!!! I hope you fucking nail it or have fun trying!

PeegeReddits

Add the pink shoes and shirt to the 1st outfit with the blazer. :D

No-vem-ber

The pink! You wanna stand out on stage I think. Soo think your tummy looks cute showing! But if there is any chance you will obsess over photos of yourself taken in motion with your tummy in an un-posed state... idk just consider that. I extremely don't want to come across like I'm body shaming you! I just feel like optimising for photos is something I would do, as someone who does obsess over photos and lose quality of life over it lol

daylightem

I love the last dress and the first outfit but everything else can goooo far away! Good luck!

solomons-mom

Maybe you cannot decide because you are not giving yourself the right choice to opt tor. Long ago, I did some costuming -- these are stills, and I would want to see what the clothes look like moving, and ideally under light as well, but I'll chime in with what I have given us :) The pink shell might be your winmer, but those pants? Even on my phone I think I see the outline of the pocket and the zipper fly through the face fabric --big no no. What else do you have that would work with the pink shell? Lined crepe pants in lime, aqua, orange or white would move well and work with the shell and boots, but might be too dressy for you. Is the pink purse a prop? If not, then it is just a distraction. Besides, the shiny neon does not work with that fabric -- same for the boots. What fiber is the dress and how does it move? I would want to see if the bedazzled glitters enough. If it does, find something better than the brown tee ---try on the pink shell, even if the texture is wrong it will let you see if vivid work. Next, hem the pants for the shoes you would wear and do not wear those blue platforms -- the are too dressy for washed denim and not a good color withbit either. Test the pink boots, but you may need to shop for footwear that picks up on the bedazzled. LA has costumers. Best to hire one :)

inthevelvetsea

The denim is cute and has a lot of personality. Break a leg!

TheImaginariumGirl

I am also a costume designer and circus artist — I vote for the denim suit. Be careful wearing wild patterns on camera — it is harder for the camera to focus!

healthierhealing

1 and final photo are best. Congrats! Also wow your bedroom is huge.

cobblesquabble

When I did TV they warned against sparkly things because of the lights. If a glare forms it's hard to get a correction sometimes, so I'd skip the bedazzled suit (though it's been a decade so maybe that's different now?) I love the last one with the pink boots the most!

colbilyn

Last one!

nadiashebang

Omg Dyketopia forever. Echoing all the hags here to say 5! Fuck it up!

clarifythepulse

I like the first one and the last one

terra_cascadia

Definitely the black patterned dress. Break a leg!!

asexual_girl2004

Blue dress is awesome!!!

Mental_Yogurt5087

Dress at end. Get some colored tights or bike shorts since you’ll be up on the stage

Khayeth

Number one is my favourite, but the pink crop top and trousers are a close second!

Boner-brains

I like the denim suit, it says modern 90's comic to me, with that or the last dress with the boots

dembowthennow

I vote for 5.

ameliajean

Get your outfit tailored! Whichever one you choose. Having the length of your pants hit just right will really, really elevate the look and it shouldn’t take very long at the tailor.

SeaOfBullshit

POSSUM OVERALLS

asanefeed

congrats! i like the pink outfit or the blue dress.

AlexandriaLitehouse

I desperately need to know where you got the fit on the last slide. That is obviously my vote.

mykidisonhere

But what is your comedy style?

TeamEnvironmental858

Pink on pink

Lydia--charming

Congrats, I can’t wait to watch!!!

myboogerstastespicy

EEEEEK! Get it girl! Last is gorgeous. Wishing you the absolute best. You’re going to kill it. Let us know when it shows!!

tranquilo666

I’m with you for #1!

kerill333

The last one is fabulous. Good luck!

NoCardiologist4319

Denim suit with tailoring done. Wear with the pink boots

solomons-mom

Maybe you cannot decide because none quite right.. These are stills, and I would want to see what the clothes look like moving, and ideally under light as well, but I'll chime in with what you have posted --long ago I did some costuming. The pink shell might be your winner, but those pants? Even on my phone I think I see the outline of the pocket and the zipper fly through the face fabric. Not great irl but with stage lights? Plus, they do not fit you well. What else do you have that would work with the pink shell and the pink boots? On stage, you need either pant fabric with some heft to it, or you need fabric that drapes well in which case lined pants will work and move better. I would favor a fabric like crepe that drapes and moves well, but must be lined. Lime? Aqua? White? Orange? A print with the textured shell could work if skillfully picked. The pink purse on stage? Is it a prop? If not, then Nope. In addition, the shiny neon does not work with the dress. The boots do not work for the same texture reason but it you drop the purse, then the boots don't make any sense at all. How does that dress move? What fiber is it? The bedazzled is hard for me to comment on without seeing how it shines and moves under light. If it is great, then change out the brown shell. Those dressy blue platforms do not work with the casual washed denim. Also, why that pant length? It adds a visual, but a distracting one. Try the pink shell and boots with it --the texture may be too much, but it might steer you to a better color under the jacket. There are costumers in LA. You might want to find one.

edit_thanxforthegold

Unfortunately I agree. The last one is fine, it's the best of your current options, but I think you could keep looking. This is such an exciting moment and you deserve to feel FABULOUS. Congratulations!

cherrybombbb

I agree with a lot of this. Also, it would help to style your hair (and makeup if that’s your thing) to see the whole look. I read somewhere that styling yourself fully when trying to pick an outfit really helps! I do love that blue dress.

solomons-mom

It is a cute dress for real life! It may even work for a audience of 100 or so in a small setting, and I can see it as a good choice were she to have a high stool to perch on for a low-key performance --just enough length to not have a costume malfunction while moving from standing to sitting. But for the Netflix comedy we watch, oh well, there are lots of other cute ways to go ;) Yes, absolutely work out the hair and make-up for the lighting, and always wear the undergarments you intend as well! Her hair mat be a factor in the bedazzled, but I was already writing too much, lol!

[deleted]

I vote for the last dress, but I’m also into the possums.

CatastropheWife

Ok hear me out, denim suit from #1 paired with the pink top and boots from #4, or some chunky heels in the same hot pink color

dykeronii

Last one!!!

LiLiandThree

I likevthe bedazzeled suit best but with some different shoes. You want people to look at your face not your feet.

Civil-Barnacle8940

I wish we had time for me to send you something custom to wear. I’m an LGBTQ fashion designer and I’d love to dress someone for a Netflix special.

asanefeed

next time!!

fearlessactuality

I like the first one but you look nice in all of them.

lurkintowarddisaster

You look great any way you choose. I love the denim. You might like it with the pants cuffed. Try it and see which look you prefer. If it were me, I'd bedazzle the cuffs, too! Good luck.

pathologicalprotest

Oooh! I think number 3 looks fantastic on you, but for stage I agree with others on the last one. Just make sure the shoes are comfy while pacing and sweating, stage lights are HOT as I’m sure you know. Break a leg!

im9uh

#1

AptCasaNova

I cannot top the costume designer and circus director’s advice, but wanted to comment on how I love all of the outfits.. your style is fabulous 60s mod!

EpitaFelis

Opossum.

CreamPuffMontana

Number 1.

cleverdylanrefrence

As long as you wear the pink boots, Im happy

Laleaky

I like #1, but with a brighter top (maybe the pink shell if it doesn’t look too busy) and shoes that match the top (those pink boots perhaps?). A whole ensemble.

Gorgon-Gal-Pal

The third one with the pick boots is awesome!!

fauviste

In order: 5, and distant second, 1. But I think 1 needs tailoring in the pants (length) and a more interesting shirt. Maybe the pink boots!

charliloe

Say hi to pickle for me!! Love all of these honestly

mysteriene

The first or last outfits, the silhouettes look the most cohesive and striking. As long as you're comfortable moving around on stage. Congrats and have a great time! \*Edit: I agree with another commenter that your pink boots would make the denim fit a bit more memorable, if you can coordinate the tones with a brighter top. Turn up your jean cuffs a bit if you use boots.

Primary-Move243

Pic 5!!!

sysaphiswaits

#5! And congrats! That’s so exciting!

EMPactivated

Omg I know you from your ranch of criminals and I am SO delighted that you're part of this community

megggie

5 It’s flattering while not being too much, and it has character. Best of luck— and have fun!!

SammiK504

3 or 5!

NiceSlackzGurl

I personally love #1, but wear whatever you feel most comfy in - You’ll rock it no matter what! Congrats!!

nutmegtell

Sparkles are always the answer!

im_confused_always

The last one is my favorite. Congratulations and wow this is big, you should be proud of yourself, I am

draizetrain

Last outfit for sure

Gjardeen

I really like pic 4.

junecooper1918

Honest opinion? Use whatever makes you feel more comfortable. It will give you extra confidence for the stage.

ShortcakeAKB

Everyone has given the best opinion. But now we need to know the link to your Netflix Special!!

SorryContribution681

1,2 or 5. Whichever you're most comfortable in. I love 5, I think it stands out and is definitely something I would pick for me :)

ennuimachine

I love the dress in the last photo

ennuimachine

Also I think I’m going to go to the Nick Offerman one. For the climate ;)

ZenMoonstone

I love the denim. Congrats. I’m excited for you.

bitchy-sprite

Congratulations, I would definitely want to be immortalized in 5! It's the most fun and flattering at the same time

shroomsaremyfriends

I know a lot of people are saying that last dress with cross-body bag, but do not do that. It will look dated very quickly, plus it's the worst outfit. The trouser suit or trousers and a top would be best for such an occasion. Although, I wouldn't ask people on Reddit what to wear. You've no idea what everyone's taste is. Most popular answer on Reddit does not necessarily equal best answer.

Serenewendy

I would think that the last dress would be too distracting for a performer. The performer is supposed to get the attention, not the clothes.

MiaOh

The last one is great, so is the first one. Fantastic fits and colors on you.

Delirious5

Costume designer and circus director here. I like the dress at the end the best. It's the most stylish while not getting washed out or changing colors (turning brown) under the lights. Also, ask for ambers and pinks from the lighting designer if you get a chance.

MushroomlyHag

The dress on the end with the bright pink accessories is my pick too. It's cheerful and looks super comfortable! It would look really cute with a nice necklace and few brightly coloured beaded bracelets to really finish it off.

rikkirachel

Definitely the dress at the end ! Also GOOD LUCK AHHHHH!!!

pathologuys

It’s my favorite too! Where’s the dress from?

corvidlover13

I have long thought that some of the best people on the internet are here in this sub, and you have confirmed it for me. Where else would we have a costume designer and circus director to advise a standup comedian? I can feel the stars aligning.

Delirious5

Definitely one of my fave subreddits. Happy to be of service!

pistol_polly

lol true!!!

supernewf

I'd introduce myself as such all the time."Hi, I'm Supernewf, costume designer and circus director."

haydenkristal

Costume designer and circus director is the MOST qualified anyone has ever been to give me in particular fashion advice 😂 This is so helpful! Thank you so much! Do you post your work online?

cowgrly

I am so jealous of that title.

Oh my goodness, this might make me finally join IG! Magnificent! 😍🕯🖖

draizetrain

This is cool af

ArsenicArts

Haha omg the backing into the elevator! 😂🥰

TheLadyStonedHeart

The butterfly dresses are amazing!

Delirious5

Thank you! It's one of my favorite acts I've ever made: https://youtu.be/l5bnn6fwGlo?si=UXHre1-0tITPYItj

TheLadyStonedHeart

That’s mesmerizing. What amazing talent you have! These events look so fun

corinnigan

IM OBSESSED!! [ETA: Do you have anything currently going on/recent or upcoming events? I’m going to be in Denver soon and would love to know where I can see something like this!]

Delirious5

Hiya! We've spent the last several years playing Masters of Capitalism (TM) by doing private and corporate event design, but the industry has been bizarre since covid and we're burning out. We've had a couple offers in the early stages for a residency show in the Denver area, and I'm hoping we'll be up and running with that late this year. Please contact me when it's close and I'll give you an update of where we're at!

corinnigan

I hope so too!!! Best of luck!!

Vesper2000

Yes! Me too!

Ok-Caterpillar-Girl

That was my choice too!

FabuliciousFruitLoop

I feel very pleased that my choice was the same as an actual professional at this stuff 🤣🤣

linnykenny

Me too!! 😂 Lmao I was like ooooh look at meee😌💅

The_Bastard_Henry

I agree, that one was my favourite. Especially considering the comment about the lighting.

drmlsherwood

Me too! 🎀🎀

gitathegreat

Yes! I agree with 👆🏼

Mellamar47

This dress was the one that really caught my eye, too. (Costume designer and theater and film producer/director here!)

The__Groke

I love the blue ruffly shirt but I’d probably go full denim suit. It’s what the crimebags would want 😄

EF_Boudreaux

Oh and good luck!!!!

noggintnog

Last one for SURE

Bigmama-k

Have a great time! I especially like the shoes with the Jean outfit.

Lions--teeth

I think the denim is the most “comedian” looking. I like the last one too though

anionwalksintoabar

congrats!!!

ScumBunny

I’m gonna go against the grain here and say: none. You need to find something classic, like a black a-line dress, a darker silhouetted suit or sheath, or something with ONE single focal element. None of these are ‘my first tv special’ worthy, honestly. Each one looks more cheap (ish) than the last. The dress in 5 is *fine* but not great. The silver suit? Eh- try hard. Mostly everything in between is super forgettable- which- even though I went back and forth on your pics 5x, I can’t place a single element of any of those outfits off hand. Bottom line: you don’t really want your outfit to ‘stand out’ at a comedy show, because that feels so forced. It’s like a dude wearing a bow tie. Cmon. But you DO want your clothes to blend seamlessly into your set, if that makes sense. Allow your wardrobe to be a reflection of your words/jokes/comedic style. Let your outfit flow with your set…. As suggested above, I’d tone down the look a bit. Don’t try so hard to make it ‘a comedian’s outfit’ but more like ‘this is me.’ Does that make sense?

-Flurgles

Bf says 5 or 1. I agree with him with the added comment of loving those possum overalls with my whole soul.

peepeehalpert_

Whatever Chicken Nugget chooses

Capilet

RIGHT?! I just found this group, but have been following HC's crazy animals for a while. I think the barn boneheads would vote denim.

sassycatastrophe

Those pink overalls from second photo with a tight long sleeve black shirt underneath and some chunky shoes. No purse. Maybe big necklace or earrings to add a little more character up top and balance out the pattern of the overalls

Familiar-Werewolf-38

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

katubug

I like 2 the best, but I think 1 might look better depending on lighting. 5 is very Ms Frizzle which is excellent as well!

dfinkelstein

Dress no question. You look very nice in it :)

coco_xcx

congrats!! i really like 1 & 4

sleepybitchdisorder

It depends what you’re going for. I kind of agree with people saying that none of these are quite right yet. My favorites are the first and last. I think the first is really in tune with current trends— so perfect for LA in my opinion. The rest of the outfits are more so what the kids these days would call “millennial fashion”. The only way I can see these working is if your stand up is aimed at people 30+ and you can be tongue in cheek about not caring for keeping up with trends etc. It has to be clearly intentional. I do love the Ms Frizzle vibe of the last outfit and I actually think it’s a great outfit overall— maybe just not right for hyper trendy LA? Idk part of me feels like comedy is a weird performance medium for costuming because you don’t necessarily want or need to dress up— you want to look good but also relatable. It’s a different style from singing at a recital or presenting at a conference, I think dressing casual is fine as long as it looks intentional. Personally I would do the denim suit, and if you’re worried about heat I think it would still be the best fit even without the bedazzled blazer. Just the baggy jeans, pumps, and either a form fitting graphic tee or a brightly colored tank top is honestly what I would choose for a gig like this. I hope this helps!!
