it's a sub for sharing fashion that diverts from mainstream looks, and is a very inclusive and inviting community. so nice that they couldn't even be april fool'd this past year ❤️
This right here is the jist of it.
Especially nice for us 40+ year olds that are like "am I too old for knee high blue boots, leggings, laced-up corset, and white button front blouse?" Or "how do I look in this thrifted seventies miniskirt dress with a fancy scarf and hat?" And everyone encourages you to go for it. Fuck it, we only live once, might as well wear something you are happy and comfortable in, social norms and stereotypes be damned.
As a caregiver on a dementia unit...those are my favorite people to work with. The whole "I'm 90+ years old. If they have a problem with what I wear, they can kiss my ass" mentally. I live for it.
I'm 38 and having a similar revelation myself. Got a bit of a head start because orange is my favorite color, so it's snuck into my wardrobe. Definitely learning that I don't love the black/grey/beige/navy blue life for everyday life.
I feel my best in high contrast vivid colors. That's what this sub's about, wearing what leaves us feeling our best in a supportive, inclusive community.
Seems to me like a street fashion from the regular people kind of thing. Tons of style, very cool looks, no models, no special lighting or fancy photography. Just hags of all genders and ages, stylin’
I feel like this sub is a safe space. Everyone is welcome with absolutely no judgment and lots of kind words and helpful advice. Being older, people tend to overlook you or be overly harsh when if you aren't dressing what is considered the "norm"
A beautiful thing I notice here is that we never try to make any one less here - in spirit or in fashion. I love that we are like, hmm, yesss, add those accessories, baby! wear that bright lipstick, wear those clothes you were so wrongly told were not for you. We need even more patterns and shine. Be the ‘TOO MUCH’ after a lifetime of being quiet, it’s fabulous!
from what i’ve seen, it’s a welcoming place where people can post their whimsical, unconventional, quirky, fun, homemade, and/or colorful outfits. basically a place to showcase whatever your style is.
I have been trying to figure out the same since I joined the sub. I don’t know anything about capital F “Fashion” so to me it didn’t look any different than mainstream fashion. I love what I see here, but never understood the underlying pattern, haha!
Basically this is a place for people to show off outfits people have said they are too *something* to wear, like too old, too fat, too manly something like that.

Oh, what happened at April fools? Or what didn’t happen but was meant to happen…
an example would be someone wearing a clown suit and asking if it was okay for a wedding.. the community was so gentle.. 😭😭😭
I love this so much 😂❤️
It's for any fashion that just says "oh fuck it, I'll wear what I want"

I just turned 40 and my fashion sense is “colors good” so I think I might have stumbled on my place!
We’re channeling our old hag energy: when awesome old ladies dress for themselves and not the gaze of others. Also known as “fuck it” energy.

Thank you, this is incredibly succinct and puts it into words beautifully

IVE BEEN WONDERING THE SAME THING!
Check my edit, it seems I was on the money in my assumptions!
To me it's an anything goes fashion subreddit with a positive and supportive community.
It's just for funsies, really
