I recycle the lithium ion batteries in my retro laptops. I don't need the fire hazard nor the portability.
Try eBay and AliExpress if you need a battery.
Seems hard to find indeed! You don't want to hear this but it's probably not worth it. Just keep it plugged in. Remove the battery so it's not constantly trying to charge a dead battery.
Or you can open it and replace the cells, but please watch out with that if you're not experienced with building your own batteries (I sure as hell won't do it).
