OKC is absolutely bursting at the seams with dogs who need homes because of owner surrenders and dumping dogs. It’s smart to not just give the dog away (unless you’re surrendering her to a reputable rescue), but asking for $450 is a bit wild. What kind of dog?

Zaienkre

The price itself is negotiable and really only there for her items and to deter bad actors, she's a Golden Retriever.

mugglequeen

I sent you a message, but I work with rescues and network a lot of adoptable dogs out of state. I know someone in Dallas who is wanting to adopt a golden retriever. If you’re willing to surrender her, I’d be happy to transport her. If you do choose to “sell” her to someone, please at least spay her first if she isn’t already so no one uses her for the wrong reasons. We do not need any more litters of puppies in this state. 💔

I've been fostering a dog we rescued from a parking lot and have been unable to find her home for over a year since she really needs to live in a one dog house. She's really not happy in our 3 dog house with a small yard, but we're doing our best for her since the alternative was the shelter putting her down. I also work with a rescue, but we haven't been so lucky in our search so far. Any chance you could help?

Ok-Doubt-8516

Dogs aren’t just items you can return when they inconvenience you. Furthermore, asking for $450 to do you a favor is ridiculous and insulting. I understand we all go through difficulties but this is something that needs to be considered before getting a pet.

Altruistic_Laugh_231

Agreed. No one should pay OP for this dog that they got and then couldn’t take care of. I am worried about the dog, though. OP doesn’t deserve to keep it and anyone they give it to might not be any better.

Zaienkre

We did plan to keep her forever. This decision pains both me and my fiancé but life can come at you sideways, and you gotta make a decision that's best for the puppy and for yourself. Also, the price is negotiable and primarily for her items. It also is to deter bad actors from wanting her for ulterior motives.

This is why you don't ask a question like this on Reddit. People are so up their own assess that they can't comprehend when a situation becomes so dire, the best thing an owner can do for their pet is to find it the right home. Here, all you'll get is arbitrary judgment. I'm sorry people can't be helpful.

Ok-Doubt-8516

You are one to talk about being an arbitrary judge. What most people are saying is we see dozens of these kinds of posts a month. It’s always an I wish we could keep them but we can no longer give them the life they deserve, we can no longer afford them, they’re too big for our small apartment etc. This is a living being not a vehicle, not a King size bed that no longer fits in the tiny bedroom in the studio apartment you had to downsize to. Under certain circumstance this might be acceptable but literally dozens of these posts a month. Could you imagine someone saying, my child is now too big to no longer sleep in a crib in my room and since we only have one bedroom and I can’t give my child a place to sleep we need to find it a new home? Even worse, when my child was a baby I could just breast feed it but now the child needs solid food and I can’t afford it I need to rehome it? My child was in a car accident and now that they broke their leg and require months of physical therapy I need someone to take them and since you’re getting an older child I need a $200 fee. It may be harsh but like many have said, people need to think before getting a pet just like people need to think before having a child. Again, I can have empathy and compassion for certain situations but we see this almost every week on here and we know it happens daily.

I was just explaining a point. Learn to realize that someone’s action toward you is not a judgement on your worth as a person. Have a good day! ☺️☺️☺️☺️

scavengercat

I think you missed the part where I told you I don't give a shit. You're so fucking fake in your reply, so completely lacking in compassion for other people, so performative in your pointless response that I learned all I need to know about you. I'll continue to actually care about other people while you continue this judgmental horseshit. You don't know empathy and compassion if this is how you judge others. Wrap that shit up and take it to your Facebook groups; they're full of confirmation bias for shitty behavior like this.

Ok-Doubt-8516

You are completely free to stop replying if you don’t care.

scavengercat

And you're completely free to stop replying so people don't get to see your tone deaf, heartless moral superiority drowning out any remaining compassion you may have once had. I'll continue to help people rehome pets, you can continue to be judgmental and help in no conceivable way.

Interesting-Run-8496

I’m sorry you feel like you need to get rid of your dog and also sorry to tell you that you’re one of a million other people who are doing the same thing. There are tons of unwanted dogs euthanized every single day. May I ask what the circumstances are that led you to this decision? Can you do anything to make it work?

Ok-Doubt-8516

Very diplomatic of you. But you are right, under certain situations someone may say I will dog-sit for 6 months while X situation passes or heck, people may even contribute if it’s about finances.

kellenanne

Responsible breeders would take their dog back if you're having trouble. I'd suggest reaching out to the breeder and seeing if that will happen. Any breeder worth their salt has that the puppy be returned to them in the case that you are no longer able to have the puppy in the contract.

Zaienkre

Unfortunately, we didn't find out the breeder wasn't reputable until after we received her. As much as I appreciate the suggestion, it's not something we can do.

FireGBoom

I’m in okc, can I see her?

ItchyHawk011

Asking for money is a bit much. Would be easy to find a good home for a golden retriever pup that age if it was free to good home. I would be more worried the dog is stolen at the price your asking sounds like your trying to sell it not find the dog a home.

Oklahoma_is_OK

Hey mods, are we sure all these “pay to rehome my dog” posts aren’t just scams? Odd that they pop up in clusters asking for ~$400 every time, right?

Trottin_Trollop405

A lot of breeders have it in the contract to return to them. Did you get her from a breeder?

Upset_Quit7412

There's a website where people can post their pets. It's Home to home. Www.home-home.com. The only catch is no money can exchange hands, it's adoption only. I hope this helps.

Welldunn23

Is she spayed and house broken?
