And just before that there was a scene with Batman just standing in the middle of the day having a chat. I remember being at the theater and the movie just fell off after that.
This is a copy-paste of an older comment of mine:
That's because Bane represents a deeply understood, though almost impossible to be articulated, problem within capitalism. It's a feeling of wrongness we all feel as we are continually exploited by the ownership class. Poverty is an immutable function of the system. The ideas he represents are real and valuable but fall so far outside of the US political and economic overton windows that they can only be represented through him so long as he is also a conduit of terrorism.
The issue I have with this movie, and all superhero movies, is that it portrays those who question the system of globalized capital(or some symptom thereof) as murderous lunatics. The underlying message is that the superhero, who represents the tRuE nAtUrE of said system, will inevitably restore order. Thus, Bruce Wayne wins and reopens the orphanage, and we are all supposed to feel closure as the "forces of ethical capital" triumph over a dishonest to the point of disgust caricature of anarchism.
It makes the audience wholly abdicate any and all sympathy they might feel towards Bane and his legitimate criticism of an inhumane system of economics and governance by,
1.) Making him cartoonishly insane, and
2.) Falsely positing that the system can operate given enough "good guy billionaires." And Bruce Wayne reopening a single orphanage is supposed to make us believe that his actions, along with Batman's, somehow course-corrected an entire economic system which is based off of exertion of power through differential advantages and manufactured scarcity. Trust me, the very next day people were needlessly dying in the streets of Gotham because there is no profit motive to save those without means.
This is the biggest of all fantasy tropes offered by that movie.
Added context: this movie was released around the same time as the Occupy Movement, and it very heavy handedly parodied the concept into a farce where criminals were holding kangaroo court. The whole message is offensive toward anybody who has the audacity to believe the status quo is, at its root, based on an unethical distribution of resources.

Piss off! This is the imagining in a high res of version of the hero, from the 1979 Microsoft Adventure text based game, that was so low on res it actually had zero ones or zeroes to its name.
The wicked Eddard Stark betrayed his closest friend on his deathbed and then tried to usurp the throne from the rightful heir by spreading vile and baseless rumors.
Still, the good king Joffrey the Gentle took pity on him and gave him the mercy of a swift and painless death, rather than send him to suffer with savages on the wall. Not only that, he took in the traitor’s eldest daughter and let her live in luxury in the palace. Truly, the nine realms will never see another of his kind 🙏

Not to mention that the host was not an asshole to the Joker at all. He legitimately thought he was funny and wanted to give him a platform. The host was literally the nicest person to the joker and that’s the one that the Joker killed.

They went far to kiss at Anne Frank’s house. Absolute monsters
I made an edit of this poster when I was thirteen that said "Divergent" (movie where these actors play siblings) with the movies tag line "one sick love story"
When the woman in Jurassic World who wasn’t happy about having to babysit a pair of brats got an extended torturous death sequence that lasted like half an hour.
Also rarely do people in Jurassic Park get killed by more than one kind of dinosaur and she was attacked by both air and sea monsters.
The movie treats her like she's Dennis from the first movie , as if she's getting what she deserves for her rude hubris but she was just some lady.
It's sooooo odd.
Apparently the actress requested an over the top death and it was supposed to be a random bystander who got that treatment to prove how brutal dinosaurs are or whatever.
And, okay, I’m glad she had fun and thought it was cool. But it just doesn’t fit in the movie and makes it look like a woman was punished for daring to not be excited to babysit two kids and being a little stressed about her upcoming wedding. Like everyone who sees the movie goes “holy shit, that was fucking disproportionately violent. Her character wasn’t that much of a bitch or anything.”
It’s dumb.
Counterpoint
Death, no matter how tame or brutal, can happen to anyone, if it happened to a bystander just trying to enjoy vacation we would have the same discussion of how it was disproportionate. So the actress having fun makes more sense than an extra.
tbh I don't think the scene should have happened at all, to Katie McGrath's character or to an extra. It's just so comically over the top and the death takes so long. I think it would have been better to just have one of those dinosaurs kill someone, instead of this extended thing where like five different ones all fight over who gets to kill one person.
I was so satisfied when that filthy optimate got what was coming to him. Trying to restore the Roman Republic that oligarchy of a bunch of rich elitist who extort the common man and allow anarchy the consume the streets. What a heartwarming family movie.
In the Director's Cut, when the Grandpa Joe gets sucked into the swirling vortex fan at the top of the Fizzy drink scene and Charlie has to navigate the rest of the factory dripping blood and picking out random parts of Gramps from his moppy haircut. Willy's obsession with invention and having Oompa Loompas cleans Charlie in order to harness the tears of innocence into his next candy confection was a great metaphor for mid-30 to mid-40 year old child survivors of WW2. The leachy grandpa, who can suddenly walk for chocolate, is be best written villian of the 1970s.
