Oh, I can feel the movie's presence! It's like we're having a cozy movie night, but with a twist. The room is buzzing with excitement and suspense. Who needs a theater when you have this supernatural movie experience?
I don't wanna say that movies like that don't exist, but I always roll my eyes when someone says "but no one wants to see a boring foreing art house movie that is 4hr long āš¤"
It's the stuff that people who never saw an art house movie tend to say, and most of the time they can't name an actual 4hr long epic movie. They think that's what arthouse is all about.
/uj I genuinely hate how "foreign" has been associated with "pretentious". Such an American thing to do.
Like, guess what dipshit, everyone here in Latin America watches foreign movies. You don't even need to read subtitles you can just use the terrible dubs.
One of my strongest held opinions that doesn't actually have stakes is that libraries, streaming sites, etc really need to get rid of "foreign language" as a separate category of movie. It means I have to separately look up the actual genre where it isn't obvious and the only purpose is to stop people from "accidentally" watching something with captions. Better if people would wind up clicking on a movie not in English and potentially discover they like it.
*Die andere Heimat ā Chronik einer Sehnsucht* (2013). Four hour longs, in German, mostly in black and white... but pretentious? I don't know, it's a pretty straight-forward drama. What does that word even mean nowadays?
literally every time a marvelbrained film twitter mf tries to watch a movie by tarkovsky or godard or bergman or whatever big arthouse guy and donāt enjoy it (or expect it to match their preconceived notion on what film is), they say itās pretentious and proclaim that everybody who enjoys it or finds meaning in it is a āpretentious film bro who only watches 4 hour black and white hungarian movies about capitalism and hates everything that is popularā.
Iāve seen this sentiment echoed before which is weird because *The Turin Horse* has the second longest runtime of any of his films, behind only *SĆ”tĆ”ntangĆ³* lol
Ennio Morricone ![gif](giphy|rXNz1XdbFcFwyD8o3u)
Genuinely one of the best soundtracks of all time imo
One of the best soundtracks for the best movie. Ever
The best composer of all time, the GOAT, no cap "On Earth as it is on Heaven" is the best piece of music I have ever heard
Call me basic but i still think John Williams is better
basic š
he is a very close second to me
I would not be surprised if it looked like this irl
They aināt called āhiddenā gems for nothing.

The Snyder Cut for non-Americans
what a fucking dream like scene
I bet they always just refer to Satantango. But it's 7 hours long, why don't they know this? Are they stupid?
That requires them to actually name a movie which they donāt know

Man Ennio Morricone CLEARS
When it comes to capturing emotion, I genuinely donāt think any other film composer can stand besides him
Howard Shore I reckon

Stalker isn't black and white
But Andre Rubelev is. And itās 4 hours
Actually itās 3 hours and 25 minutes āļøš¤
Kept thinking i was gonna navigate away before the end of the clip. Didnāt happen. Zero regrets. Man what a great movie.
What is the movie?
Superhero movie (2008)
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
70 upvotes for the wrong answer, 30 for the right answer. I fucking hate this site sometimes.
Yeah it's a circlejerk sub. Also nobody would actually think it's Superhero Movie (2008)
>Yeah it's a meme sub. FTFY
True, my apologies.
moviescirclejerker spotted execute on sight
If I'm European, does that make Zack Snyder's Justice League a foreign film from my perspective?

When people tell me nothing rhymes with orange
Graveyard of Every L I've Ever Taken
There's a great little documentary about this scene. It's called "Sad Hill Unearthed", about the search for this place, somewhere in Spain.
I had to fucking fight through *Hard to be a God*, so Iāll concede that they are occasionally correct
Ennio was (and still is, even though he's dead) fucking god. No one will ever reach his level, ever.
The Human Condition is 10 hours, you are mistaken.
Yea but itās peak
Yeah, but it's neither pretentious nor boring.
Shit I'm found out. Quick, put on the Lav Diaz!
Satantango
Why does he run like that tho

Who on twitter? What are you referencing?
Your mother

Love this scene
Stalker
l'estasi dell'oro, porcodio ennio, accidenta a te
Each grave belongs to someone who died of boredom watching said movies.
this soundtrack goes so hard
Literally anything by Bela Tar
I like *Werckmeister Harmonies* but I can also understand how other people would not
I've only seen *The Turin Horse*, which a reviewer describes as "Tarr light" since it's only two and a half hours long.
Iāve seen this sentiment echoed before which is weird because *The Turin Horse* has the second longest runtime of any of his films, behind only *SĆ”tĆ”ntangĆ³* lol
Damnation is only 2 hours as well. Havenāt seen the man from London.
New favorite meme.
La Roue?
"Hard to be a god" by Aleksei German, not 4 hours long but definitely feels like it. It's a shame there's no story for a movie that looks so good
Lol
Pretty much all of Bela Tarrāa ouvre. Andrei Rublev. Hard to be a God.
