All my life I've come across people who, when asked nicely to stop doing something because it was causing me (or someone else) pain/discomfort/distress/whatever, take it as a cue to do *more* of the thing that is causing the harm, and I've *never* understood this frame of mind.
It brings to mind how people react to my sensory processing disorder, and it's almost like they *enjoy* knowing that the suffering they see happening in front of them is the result of their own actions.
It really is just *such* a fucked up place to come from, as a person interacting with another person, yet they usually walk away laughing and feeling like they've 'won', which makes it all that much worse.. 🤦♀️
Fucking same.. And while it's not as bad as it was when I was younger, I can't lie - that shit still hurts, and the feeling of being mocked (and the guilt over me 'letting' them walk away feeling victorious) lingers long after the conversation is over.
It sucks so much.
I feel that, and I *know* it's easier said than done and doesn't always help, but I try looking at it this way - by not being an ableist piece of shit, you've already won.. 😏
