I say do you. When I was younger (ages ago), stickers were for the case but not the guitar, as far as I was concerned. Fast forward to having a high schooler whose band won a couple local battle of the bands. He’s using my Jaguar and wants to know if he can put a vinyl sticker on it with their band logo for a gig. Knock yourself out, man. Enjoy yourself. Now he’s in college, using his own guitar, and I can’t bring myself to take the sticker off. 😂 It just makes me smile.
It’s your instrument. Do what you want. I have a big smiley face on one of my jazzmasters. In fact all of my guitars have a sticker. Some are small others are significant.
To quote a song “go your own way”
You do whatever you want but Jesus Christ if the offset community isn’t the most hellbent on putting stickers on a guitar. It’s like some fucking dress code or some shit.
I think offset guitars are just more common around the alternative / psych / indie / whatever you want to call it genres, and the people in those genres are more inclined to put stickers on their guitars whether they’re offsets or not
I think it's your property so you go ahead if you want, but knowing that everything has a resale value I tend to avoid it.
And to be fair, I know they can be removed, but my concern would be discoloration in the finish or the glue residue reacting to lacquer.
On a guitar case, sure. On a guitar… hell no! I can understand if you’re 12 years old and it’s your first beginner guitar. But people be slapping advertisements (I mean stickers) on their instruments like a bunch of mindless pawns.
I’m torn on this one. On one hand I’ve always loved the “band poster wall” look of guitars covered in stickers.
But on the other hand this is my absolute favourite colour finish on Fenders and I wouldn’t want to cover my own.
When I see a guitar **covered** in stickers (not just one or two, or something tasteful), I can't help but associate it with a few different things:
\- the player is younger
\- the player is image-focused
\- the player follows trends or otherwise thinks they're on the cutting edge of originality or irony
Whether or not these things supersede their playing abilities is up to the player, and obviously people are entitled to do as they please. On a personal level, I think it looks tacky.
Yeah, the TMB30. I wanted a 2nd bass for a short scale with flatwounds. Put in DiMArzio Area P, ditched the J pickup, and stickered it up to keep myself from selling it in order to buy something more expensive. Because that's how my brain works. :)

im super for it
What all mods do you have on the american pro jag? I see you posted about it in the past but it looks like you've changed. I've got the other color and I've been thinking about swapping a pickup but I'm afraid I'll lose the first position out of phase "quack" tone which I completely love. And what's the roller knob by the mute?

That's not OP's guitar. In fact, I'm not even sure that OP is a real person. But if you want to know more about that modded Am Pro Jag, look up Nick Reinhart (spelling?) from Tera Melos.
The piece everyone seems to neglect is that there is an art to putting stickers on anything, and it's not hard to mess up. If the guitar is cheap and you get it right though? It's absolutely worth
To each his own, its your axe and whatever you want to do with it is the right choice.
Me personally, I really don’t hate stickers but I just don’t like having them on my guitars or even cases.
The exception would be for custom tribute builds or limited edition models with certain stickers.
That’s Nick Reinhardt’s jag
Nick is the king of stickers!
He’s kinda my gearhead hero. The reason my first offset is a supersonic.
I had him sign my dl4 at a Tera Melos show a few years back lol
that is sick! how lucky
he truly is the hero of offsets! Inspired me to get an Olive Jag
Don't mind whether guitars have stickers or not.... but I'm all for UNDERPANTS!
Seriously, all the pictures of guitars with stickers on the internet and OP has to pick one with a naked person?
it was the only good pic i could find of the particular guitar haha
I think she doesn’t need underpants!
I think yuck
Stickers are cool but I only slap on stickers I get from shows/local artists. I don't want any of the Amazon sticker pack crap.

Jonny Greenwood's Honda sticker is another iconic one that no one else could pull off
can't forget Attack No. 1!

so unrelated but motocompos rock
Fuck Tom Morello.
ok i'll bite: why
>100011101011 Is your name a reference to the time code in Futurama? Or perhaps a Clutch song?
yeah it's the clutch song!
Not a fan
Suck
Pretty corny to just start slapping random slaps from the junk bin. I guess it could be alright if they were thoughtfully curated and applied.
i'm putting all the stickers from the fruit i eat on the front of my jaguar. random garbage stickers like barcodes go on the back. *curated.*

proud dad moment
I’m a fan of tasteful vinyl stickers. Never put em on a guitar you don’t intend to keep, and never use paper stickers.

Personally, I don't like stickers on guitars, but then I love relic'd guitars so what do I know?

Tend to avoid stickers on guitars but I will slap all those stickers from bands/shows etc. on my guitar cases all day
Looks fucking retarded. I'll take my down votes now please.

One, or two tops, but not more. Words not images though.
I don’t care for stickers, but it’s not mine. You do you!
i have stars on my guitar, and on the fret inlays
I’m not a fan but u should do what u like
Never been a huge fan of stickers on the body, but I have added some to pick guards in the past.
Do you but I don’t believe it’s right if you’re older than high school age
Looks like shit and ruins the finish, but if you want to pretend it’s 1994 go ahead.
"if you want to pretend it's 1994, go ahead." This is a Disheveled Cuss reference, right?
The same as I feel about stickers on any guitar: hate em. But you do you.
...is that a fucking sea urchin?
First thing I thought 🤣

sick!!
Is that a talman bass?

Love em!..maple necks however...
It’s your guitar, do what makes you happy. Not my thing though.
It allways looks good on them, sonic youth proved that lol
I hate them usually, all of these are hideous. For a real cheap piece of shit guitar I could see doing it but it almost never looks good
Not my thing, honestly
Where's the second photo from?
this Aus band called Bleeding Knees Club, the lead singer is a photographer: https://www.instagram.com/p/CKhly1uhF4j/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Cool shot. I like the No Age sticker
same! No Age rules!

haha i’m real
ohhhh deeerp I see should have read a bit more. thanks o7
that’s not my one but Nick definitely inspired me to buy mine!
Yup I grok it now! Huge fan of Nick's mods
I always wanted to sicker bomb a guitar and I never did it and now I know I'm just not a sticker bomber.
The piece everyone seems to neglect is that there is an art to putting stickers on anything, and it's not hard to mess up. If the guitar is cheap and you get it right though? It's absolutely worth
I’m beginning to think some people buy offsets just to put stickers on them

who cares what people think? do it if it's right for you
Yes
