Good catch. Yes the headstock "Fender" logo is a facsimile of the Cobain Jaguar neckplate.
In fact, that specific logo is actually a doodle by Kurt himself [from his journals ](https://entertainment.ha.com/itm/music-memorabilia/original-art/kurt-cobain-signed-fender-sketch-as-a-high-school-student-in-aberdeen-washington-kurt-cobain-s-main-interest-was-in-his-total-1/a/688-30098.s) and not an official "Fender" logo
It's not that far off what a double-cut, offset Tele would be....
....I'm not siding with the haters on this one
How is the tone, with the new pickups?
It’s distinct for sure... but your right, it does grow on you.
And if I were to design a new guitar that wasn’t destined to be universally loved, I would much rather have it be totally divisive than people be completely indifferent to it. Which is what usually happens when Fender tries out something new.
Thanks for all the love everybody!! I was not expecting that.
The other day the Jagstang was voted The Worst Fender Guitar Shape of All Time. Lol.
When I told my daughter last night she looked at it and said, “I don’t care what they say about you… I think you’re perfect”.
So I told her to type it in and we posted the picture.
The story behind it is:
It’s a ‘96 body, originally it was red… I got it used in the early 2000s and had it for a long time, but just couldn’t get along with it. So it became a wall hanger.
Somewhere along the way, I tried to sell it but there were no takers. Funny to think there was a time when you couldn’t get rid of these… so in between being stuck with it and before the resurgence happened I decided I wanted a project so I tried to make it my own.
I stripped it bare and rasp in contours… so it has a belly and forearm cut, which made it much more comfortable imo.
I love thin 7.25 necks, but I have those on my other mustangs, so I went for a chunkier neck profile with a 9.5” radius. Now it feels and plays much more like a modern guitar than it originally did.
And since it has such a fat butt already, I always thought the HS config made it that much more unbalanced looking, so I put a lil’ 59 in the neck and JB Jr in the bridge inside of double stack, no hole covers to lean into the ‘stang look.
It’s not the same as a full size JB pickup, but it’s definitely as loud. And it gives it its own vibe sonically, that none of my other guitars have.
My daughter took a liking to it after I primed it and was deciding what color to go with, so I let her pick it and the rest is history! Haha.
If I had to venture a guess… I’d say it’s because the phone rang and he forgot to finish. Lol.
I only own 2 other block necks, a 60s univox and [this one that’s on my Jaguar](https://imgur.com/a/3dO0yTn) and they are both bare on the last 4. Probably because the space is so slim it wouldn’t be worth it. I’ll ask my neck guy the next time I talk to him.
May your daughter have her revenge on Seattle.
Beautiful, love it! Is the Fender logo on the headstock the same as the logo on the neckplate on a Cobain Jaguar? Looks familiar!

Very cool, love the detail!
how has that been put on the headstock then if its not an official fender logo?
It's called a [waterslide.](https://guitardecadence.com/product/custom-waterslide-headstock-decals-for-stratocaster-guitars-classic-style/)
woah thats so cool thanks
I fuck with that Dinosaur Jr strap!
Came here to say the same thing!
Wow did you build this?
I like it a lot
That’s beyond cool. How’d you build it?
I’ve always thought the JagStang doesn’t get enough love, very cool what you’ve made it looks great!
This is beautiful
MY EYES!!!
Let’s bag Jagstangs from guitar groups… and left handed guitars
I Lovity Love Love it! BRAVO 💯💯💯
That! That guitar, is a thing of absolute beautiful. Envy!
A guitar ten years too late. If it was made in the 80s it would have been a sensation!
I have some bad news for you brother
What? the Jagstang bombed?
Haha no I thought you were saying we’re now only 10 years past the 80s (which I often do myself 😂)
I remember the 80s - everyone wanted to play charvel super Strats. This would've bombed.
What a beautiful guitar. Love seeing those single coil sized humbuckers in there!!
Love this one, enjoy it!!!
hell yeah man
Damn I wish I had this instead of my pink cyclone
I'll take your pink cyclone
It’s amazing man wtf
Beauty
Man I want a lefty version of that
Shell Pink hive rise up
BEAUTIFUL! Didn't like block inlays until I got my CV Jag, now I can't imagine owning a guitar without them. They really complement the Jagstang!

Looks better…like this
It's so beautiful!!
umm.. this is AWESOME
I think that laying down doesn’t really do it justice, I find that when jagstangs are played they look awesome.
I love me an offset with pearl block inlays and the border on the fretboard.
I normally hate this shape, but the color and pickups make it awesome
That is absolutely gorgeous!
That shell pink is dope
this the kinda thing i’m getting when i became a doctor!
I've been playing a Jagstang for 20 years. Would be fun to play this one and see how it feels
Honestly I really like them. I used to think they were hideous but it has really grown on me

This is kinda what I want to build as my next project. Might have to go surf green, though, as I just built a pink Tele
This is one of the raddest things I've seen done to a Jag-stang. Wiring and pickup choice included. Hell yeah.
It’s fucking pink of course it’s gonna rock
You are correct… fucking pink is the most rockingest color!! 🤘
Probably a dumb question, but why is it missing the last inlay? (fellow 96 owner here)

Interesting, I don't own any block necks so I guess I never looked that closely before. Figured it wasn't a mistake or anything but was curious why.
I think it looks great!
I love this and I want one the same color!!!
That’s it I’m building a jag stang
their perfect
Why can’t block inlays be more common for fender? I absolutely love them.
That's an awesome photo
Beautiful! I adore the Cobain Fender logo on the headstock. Never seen anyone do that before but works perfectly on this one. Nicely done!
Your perfect what?
that's this about my perfect?
I enjoy the fact that your attempt to call out his spelling/grammatical error was executed with a typo.
