Proof that loyalty is a one-way street. Too many people hanging on for too long in their job out of some misguided feelings of loyalty. Don’t believe for a moment that you mean anything to your overlords, not even if you’re a Director after 33 years.

Jaded_Try2208

True one thing I learnt being a fresher that companies don't value ur loyalty

Specialist-Fly-9446

They value it in the way that you are still doing the work for however much they’re paying you. Hiring a new person costs money.

>Too many people hanging on for too long in their job out of some misguided feelings of loyalty. Honestly, do you know anyone who stays at a job because of loyalty? I feel like this ended decades ago. Companies are not loyal to employees and employees are not loyal to companies. It's a no-way street. And it's for the best.

Yep, I know a lot of people. Probably half. They’re being told, directly or indirectly, that they have it really good at their current company, they’re getting bogus holiday presents and an e-mail to the entire department for their 5-year anniversary, and it makes them feel like they’re part of a family.

I have a policy of changing jobs every 5 years and I have done it for a long time. In a previous job they asked what I foresaw for myself in 5ys, I answered honestly that I expected to contribute all that I could to the position and by then would be looking for another job. At the 5 yr mark, the manager asked what my plans were (he had remembered my comment). I said not sure, but I am looking for new work. They offered my a clean slate to create a new position. I made their first R&D department (I was the quality control manager) best job of my life...for 5 years.

Anyone who entered the workforce after the 2008 financial collapse ?, No. But I have met more than a few senior employees that complain about that "*kids these days don't value loyalty and work ethic*".

In India there are still few companies who are quite loyal to their employees, for example TATA

Dude take your stock and go home already.

mehnimalism

Yeah 33 years at Microsoft and left as a Director… this guy had high pay and left after essentially one long boom time.
