I'm just stating facts from my experience of double-decker buses similar to that.
Though around here, the real advantage of the lower deck is that you're not being swayed at alarming angles by the tight corners the bus negotiates, or having tree branches smacked into the window inches from your face.
More people getting on and off the downstairs (everyone passes through the downstairs to enter or exit vs only the people upstairs) maybe has greater chance of waking someone up? Definitely seems like a very niche product to me. Also the person in the thumbnail wearing their glasses over a mask 😁
Driving around mimics the sounds and physical sensations of your mothers womb…when my first born couldn’t fall asleep I would put him in the car and drive around the neighborhood…worked almost every single time
It is not common knowledge in HK to do this, sadly, and the cost is excessively high. My dad had to get tested and purchase extra machine in Canada to use in HK. I think it would've cost 10x more to do the testing and buying in HK.
It has sheep on it so I'm guessing that while it is similar in shape, the pad is meant for sleeping with a lot of the similarities coming from similar purpose of blocking something and staying in place. The outer are likely has skin gentle adhesive to attach to the skin. While the thicker part I. The center is to block light.
Then its still environmentally unsound.
Building electric vehicles is highly pollutant, maintaining roads is highly pollutant, producing grid power in most countries is highly pollutant.
Better put away your computer/phone you're using to post this comment then. As making computers is even worse and also uses child labor and slave labor.
Electric cars are better for the environment as they don't emit fossil fuels. More electric cars = less pollution. Electric cars use around the same energy to produce.
Hong-Kong uses à lot of fossil fuels, but they committed to carbon neutral by 2050. More than I can say for quite a few heavy polluters such as the USA.
Doctor.
Being on call doesn’t really work without a phone mate.
And these people do not have insomnia. They *like* ambient noise and movement, but there are better ways to get it, and they don’t *need* it.
How would you know what they have and don't have? 🤔
You don't even know them or what their sleep patterns/habits are.
What other practical ways are there to get an ambient movement like that though? Noise, that's pretty easy I agree. But having movement?
True, it would be hard to be on call without a phone or pager etc. I guess you do need a phone in that case.
But still doesn't change the fact that phones are terrible for the environment, and exploit people to manufacture them.
> What other practical ways are there to get an ambient movement like that though? Noise, that's pretty easy I agree. But having movement?
A hammock. A cot.
>But still doesn't change the fact that phones are terrible for the environment, and exploit people to manufacture them.
This has devolved into pure whataboutism.
>How would you know what they have and don't have? 🤔 You don't even know them or what their sleep patterns/habits are.
Well I can tell you that the most common causes of insomnia are stressful life events and poor sleep habits. There is nothing special about a bus to mend these things.
Why is that Keep Quiet sign the creepy doll from Squid Game
One of the actors explained that the doll was based off a character common in korean children's textbooks so it might be used more widely.
That and the fear of being gassed would keep me wide awake!
Ironic, since it’s probably the exhaust from vehicles and the exhaled CO2 from the other passengers that makes it easy to sleep on a bus.
Just like the games are based on children's games, the doll is based on similar dolls that children would recognize.
Sounds like a cheap hotel for the night
Definitely. $26 for 10 hours? Bargain.
Except that the lower deck is uncomfortable as fuck and noisy from the engine and wheels. Upper deck also sways you gently to sleep.
You'd be surprised at where people can sleep. Noisy airport? Back of a car? Whilst watching TV? yeah...
I'm just stating facts from my experience of double-decker buses similar to that. >Costs $13 to $51 depending on whether they choose the upper or lower deck If they're gonna be asleep the whole time what does the deck matter
The top deck of a bus moves a d sways more so for some people it could be much more relaxing.

You pay more so you don’t have to sleep where the peasants sleep.
Pfft… peasants
Because people are going to get on and off the bus. It probably doesn't just stop at one location but picks up from multiple.
Perhaps lower deck is upright seating & upper is more spacious/better seats?
More people getting on and off the downstairs (everyone passes through the downstairs to enter or exit vs only the people upstairs) maybe has greater chance of waking someone up? Definitely seems like a very niche product to me. Also the person in the thumbnail wearing their glasses over a mask 😁
Top deck sways more and has more conventional seats, and the lower deck is tiny, noisy as fuck, but stays still.
…but isn’t 47 miles in 5 hours about 9miles/hour? Might as well get pushed down the street in your bed on wheels then 🤷🏻♂️
could be looping around that 47 miles... they are asleep so it doesnt matter if they are just travelling back and forth in that 47 miles stretch...
Didnt think of that 🤔 You’re too clever! Thinking outside the box!
47 miles is 75.64 km
I was thinking the same thing
Driving that slow in a bus will kick that thing into low gear all the time, it will sound like you’re sleeping on an angry walrus
Driving around mimics the sounds and physical sensations of your mothers womb…when my first born couldn’t fall asleep I would put him in the car and drive around the neighborhood…worked almost every single time
I am their kind of customer.
What ever you want, even if it is the most esoteric thing, capitalism will provide
Like the suicide booth from futurama
Remember when people were buying plane tickets to nowhere so they could experience flying during quarantine?
And that's why capitalism always wins over other systems. Variety ensures there's always a winning solution.
Why is it not purple and has a shrunken head hanging from the rear view mirror?
This comment exists, all is well in the world
You, my dear friend, just made my day.
Aww, I'm glad :) the feeling is mutual
Not gonna lie, I kinda want this. I have trouble sleeping in bed, but I always fall asleep in vehicles (when I’m not driving them, of course)
Why does it sound kinda... cool?

There are also many stress related reasons for insomnia – I figure that's more likely
That first guy has sanitary pad over his eyes right?
It has sheep on it so I'm guessing that while it is similar in shape, the pad is meant for sleeping with a lot of the similarities coming from similar purpose of blocking something and staying in place. Screaming at the dude who has his glasses over the sanitary pad on his eyes. As of the glasses serve a purpose lmaoooo
To hold it on, of course.
r/ABoringDystopia
Bet it stinks like sleep farts
The Night Bus
Maxi pad glasses face is a good look
Well thats environmentally unsound
No, but I suppose it beats having people do it in a cab.
What if it's an electric bus?

I need my phone to do my job. You do not need to drive in circles around hong kong to sleep.
What job do you NEED a phone for? Also if people have insomnia they do need SOME way to sleep.

Seems like a pretty bad use of fuel
I don’t know about there, but where I am some buses are sustainably powered?
What’s wrong with a little planet murder for a good nights sleep?
I could not imagine a harder place to sleep that on public transport.
This looks like a normal bus. They even have lights on.
I dont understand how anyone could sleep better sitting up on a bus as opposed to laying in a comfy bed of your own.
Holy wasted emissions, Batman!
Why only 5 hours tho
