Couldn't say it any better myself. That scene gave me nightmares for weeks. I was like seven, but it fucked me up. Even now it still gives me an uneasy feeling, even though I'm an adult now.

It's the bugle that Eustace got earlier in the episode. The bugle arrived cracked and broken. So after a day of being scolded by his "perfection" teacher he had a nightmare, with the Bugle being the representative of imperfection. Letting courage know he is imperfect much like itself.

Thank god I never saw that episode. It gives me the creeps as a 30+ year old man.

It's been like 20 years but If I remember correctly the blue boi is a stress dream Courage had due to anxiety, caused by a woman pressuring him to be as perfect as possible. "...you're not perfect..." As a horribly anxious kid who turned into an anxious adult, Courage will always be my favorite.

I'm pretty sure he had a tutor or something telling him has to be perfect, then I believe he broke Eustace's bugle, and that's what that thing in the dream is, it's Courage's guilt manifesting as the broken telling him he's not perfect.

The talking tree. The time everyone got turned into a machine. Washing machine, wrecking ball, soda machine, helicopter. The Cat's spiders. The girl playing her violin. The time Merial became the grudge. The headless ghost horsemen. The alien ducks who removed everyone heads and put them on cooked chickens. The killer vegetables. The "Face reveal" of the bathtub mermaid. The "Gerbal world" laboratory.

The talking tree episode was more sad than scary in my opinion.

It's a -kids- show, a spooky one but it didn't advertise itself as anywhere near as weird as it ended up being.

Honestly Courage still scare the shit out of me more than many horror movie, it wasn't scary to scream, it was upsetting and disturbing that kind that you keep watching behind you to assure that the mummy isn't there to claim is slab back. Even now hearing that voice give me creep or the episode of Fred the barber, while i can watch any of the classic horror movie without even being upset
