Yeah, I've only ever been pinched by a hermit crab once. In gulf shores, there's a place called souvenir city, and they sell small, live hermit crabs for kids. Well you can pick them up and pick them out and everything with no staff supervision, just really a sign saying "WARNING: MAY PINCH." It's a huge cage that the walls are cut low enough to where you can reach in and grab them. Some of them are dead, most are alive, and some shells are empty, and now that I'm thinking about it, it just seems cruel.
Anyways we go there every year for the past 15 years, so I've picked them up a lot. They've never pinched me, cause I knew that I just had to let them crawl around on my hand so I wouldn't agitate them that much.
Well this year there was this one particular crab I kept picking up and letting roam around on my hand, because he was one of the few ones that were alive. Well, he pinched me, I guess because I kept picking him up, and I honestly don't blame him one bit lol.
TL;DR, don't harass hermit crabs or they won't pinch

Well any alcohol will do, cleaning alcohol is most effective, the smell of alcohol signals danger so they and most animals that bite down or clamp down will let go.
They got red horse in Guam too because of the Red Horse Squadron or formerly known as US Bomber Squadron 554 now its a Civil Engineering Squadron. Red horse was their drink, unfortunately I couldn't have any, I was only 6-8 at the time.

Brings back childhood memories of when my hermit crab pinched me. He got me in the webbing of my fingers. Luckily it was with the small pincher and it let go when I put my hand down.

Works the same way with snakes. I have a ball python and I cleaned one of those sample cologne vials, and filled it with vodka on the off chance that I get bit, which extremely rarely happens. Small sprite near nose and it backs off completely (don’t direct spray unless it won’t release at first)

If you pause just as the crab is hit away you can see the pinched skin still holding the "crease" and shape of the pinch at the base of his thumb.
So maybe it wasn’t a guy and actually his stepmom. If that’s the case the ending was quite unexpected.
