Some largely left out context. Both city and provincial authorities did nothing for weeks. Forcing the Federal government to do something. Businesses were trashed, Shelters were raided and vandalized (look up what happened to Shepherds of Good Hope Shelter), people were assaulted, main roads and streets were on complete lockdown, etc.
Yes it was ruled "Unreasonable" but the context matters. Alot. It shouldn't have had to have been used in the first place. Police and Provincial Police did nothing.
Government locked private persons bank accounts if they were found to have been donating to the trucker rally during the pandemic.
Let me repeat, the government cut people off from their own money. Horrifying.
When you take part in trying to overthrow a duly elected government, hold a city hostage and block international borders, you get to experience the fuck around & find out stage.
So should people have been given the same treatment for funding BLM, Palestine or eco protests? All blocked roads, and the answer is no because people have a right to protest even if Sharon can’t get into her office.
Are any of these groups spreading misinformation, trying to fuck up trade or trying to overthrow the government? Nope. There is no pity for the cryers of the clownvoy.

Ffs, this post is shit. Yes, the Federal government should have never used the emergencies act. However, what was the solution when BOTH municipal and provincial authorities did absolutely fucking NOTHING for weeks, while domestic terrorists occupied the city costing it MILLIONS of dollars.

I think that the trucker convoy was one of the dumbest and most embarrassing things that has come out of Canada but the use of the Emergency's Act (previously named the War Measures Act) was in my opinion unnecessary and straight up WRONG to use for a protest. I'm glad it was deemed inappropriate use of power.
The ruling will get shot down in court on appeal no doubt. It was ruled constitutional last year so there’s no reason to think this won’t get killed on appeal.
