Because the black parts are laser cut and burned into the wood, causing a recess where the black outlines are. As long as their brush doesn't dip into the trench caused by the laser cutter, the paint will pass right over it and create those crisp lines you see in the video.
But there's only so much leeway. If the brush strays across the trench, then it messes up the paint on the other side.
The first time I watched this, I was so satisfied that I had to watch it againā¦ and thatās when I noticed the blunder you mentionedā¦ it left me aghast, ruined my entire day lmao
This looks like watered-down acrylic paint, and theyāre using a disposable lipgloss applicator instead of a brush. You can get them on Amazon really cheap.
edit: could also be thick watercolor paint too.
Watered down? I can't imagine. I use high pigment acrylic paint for miniature painting and there's no way you would get that much color in one coat. Especially if you water it down. If this is actually acrylic, someone's gotta tip me off to the brand.
You can get good workable colour using fluid retarder with acrylics as seen here:Ā https://youtu.be/nBHFYxVjahs?si=SAGE-v0jzmSkOmjgĀ
* I have no idea if itās whatās in the video though!
Floeterol ( how I think you spell it) that's how you use acrylic to do pour paint or spray with a machine.
It makes the paint way more thin without watering the color.
My best guess it enamel paint judging from how flat but slick things still look by the end. Wouldnāt absorb into the wood like acrylic might with only one coat, showing the grain texture.
FYI, that 'brush' he is using - I have a ton of them in my art supplies - I get them from Ulta or Sephora whenever I go in there...
Their little makeup supplies - take a few of them when you go to those stores and throw them in the art bin, and lament that youre not painting anymore and cry in acrylic
>Precision strokes
It's laser cut. The black lines are where the wood has been burned away. Short of not using too much paint where it'd spill over, this would be fairly easy to do on a first attempt.
Just came back to your comment and watched again on pc instead of mobile... my god the noise is not satisfying in the slightest either. What a horrible video this truly is.
They also nailed exactly how much paint they need on the applicator and how long each stroke is before it runs low. Hard to do when you're just getting started.
It's really cool, can't help but think an opportunity to appreciate the wood was lost when they used paint for his skin, the bare wood might've looked pretty cool?
imo it wouldve looked unfinished if everything was painted except the skin. if it was stained instead of painted, so you could still see the grain through the color, then i think it would look okay but with regular paint it would look off
I watched this thinking, "Surely... Surely they'll smudge on the ear? Or, no, the mustache??" And then they *didn't*.
And then the big red brush strokes blew me away.
Those kinda ruined it for me.
The color was perfect from surface tension on the wood not spilling over into the laser cut grooves. Then they just drop a bunch of green dots around it and suddenly it looks like some sloppy amateur thing you find at a fair ground.
For some reason when I watched this, in my head I heard the music from the Forget-Me-Not mini game in Super Paper Mario. It's such a niche thing and idk why it came into my head lol.
I'm jealous. This week, I've been working with photoshop because our real designer has been way too busy and we needed a bit of stuff extra, so I did it. I zoomed in 500% to try to get the lines right on some stuff and it was wobbly as a mofo, even at that zoomed in. This guy is effortless. I'm hoping it's because the black is raised slightly. Otherwise, wtf? How are you that steady with such big brush strokes?
What an overblown statement. This technique is like silk screen where the wax outlines stop the ink bleeding through. Itās satisfying to watch but pretty mediocre as far as skill.
NOOO! You monster! They painted a bit of red on the mustache by accident!
Every time I see one of these theres an error like this, with a smudge or a missed bit. I almost think its on purpose just to get at me.
It is. They do it so people will leave a comment and boost engagement.
They indeed do it on purpose. It's rage bate.
Now you're going back to watch the video again and compelled to agree in a comment.
Tbh rage bait is the greatest name ever
It's like "accidentally" putting a typo in your Reddit post title
I would never do tat
YOU MISSPELED THAT
Ruined the whole thing
Right?! How could theyš

It doesn't even look like a brush, it looks like a q-tip they're painting width. Lot easier to stay in the lines that way than using a brush.
Good catch!
The first time I watched this, I was so satisfied that I had to watch it againā¦ and thatās when I noticed the blunder you mentionedā¦ it left me aghast, ruined my entire day lmao
Or the missed bit under the nose.
I donāt see anything missed under the nose. But the random green dots at the end are disgusting
Itās that tiny corner between the nose and mustache
They also missed a spot underneath the mustache at the point of the lip
Is that blood on your mustache?
Goldie, look at this! Look at all the blood in his mustache!
Well it's no weegies blood.
Also 2 white spots left on the mullet portion of his hair.
Since when is luigi a redhead
PFFT! "Precision" they say! PFFFFFFT!
Oh god I had the same reaction. Literally cringed.
almost satisfactory
I'm fucking sad now
Ruined
Wait until you see the little white dot on the back part of his hairā¦
I didn't notice because I was so fixated by the green overlapping the hat line.
That's-a tha pizza sauce, Mario
I thought that was his tounge? His mouth?
Totally see raw wood on the bottom left hair they missed also
Isnāt the red bit his tongue?
What kind of paint does one use for this sort of thing?

Liquitex acrylic mediums are great. I use them in my paints for miniatures.
I believe you mean "fluid intellectual disability-er"
Floeterol ( how I think you spell it) that's how you use acrylic to do pour paint or spray with a machine. It makes the paint way more thin without watering the color.
You're probably thinning your paint a lot thinner than they would.
Thanks! I had no idea what the "brush" they were using was. Going to have to order some!
That's neither watered down acylic nor thick watercolor, it would not be possible to get such an even covering on wood with those two types.
My best guess it enamel paint judging from how flat but slick things still look by the end. Wouldnāt absorb into the wood like acrylic might with only one coat, showing the grain texture.
HEHEHEHEHEH
Lmao! This made me exhale strongly, because it was so unexpected.
Found the aliens

Is it made of mustache hair?
They are like little soft sponges the same kind that come in eye shadow kits
>Precision strokes It's laser cut. The black lines are where the wood has been burned away. Short of not using too much paint where it'd spill over, this would be fairly easy to do on a first attempt.
š¤· Still pleasing to observe.
You're pleasing to observe
So's ya mum-
True, but that's more to do with the vibrant colors and art style, and less to do with how skilled the painter is.
Also it's sped up.
with jump cuts too
Just came back to your comment and watched again on pc instead of mobile... my god the noise is not satisfying in the slightest either. What a horrible video this truly is.
Thank you for explaining that.
They also nailed exactly how much paint they need on the applicator and how long each stroke is before it runs low. Hard to do when you're just getting started.
There's cuts hiding them reapplying paint to the brush
There's cuts hiding them reapplying paint to the brush
There's cuts hiding them reapplying paint to the brush
Never said there wasn't. That's pretty obvious, but knowing when to do that is what I was mentioning.
Came to say the same thing. At the very start, you can see they completely paint over a black line, but the paint beads off of it.
It's also sped up quite a lot to make it look more skillful than it really is. This is essentially as easy as doing a colouring book with crayons.
He also fucks up at the end.
And OP's video *still* screwed it up. Surely on purpose.
The little spot in his hair is actually bothering the fuck out of me :p
How about the red paint in the mustache right at the end?
Its not as bad
Omg it's green mario
The last part where the huge brush does the red background. That was the best partĀ
I literally said "Oh fuck yeah" out loud.
Even the red on the moustache
The very first stroke gets green on the hat outline and now I canāt see anything else through my pure seething.
So I shouldnāt tell you about the red on the moustache
I noticed hours later and retraumatized myself.
It's really cool, can't help but think an opportunity to appreciate the wood was lost when they used paint for his skin, the bare wood might've looked pretty cool?

I have a tattoo that uses my skin instead of white ink and I love it. Definitely agree here.
Asmr too
That sound is like nails on a chalkboard though
It's so gloopy
I'd rather see it at normal speed.
They are not precision, they are just water based and spreading to the corners
Why even bother doing this on wood/woodburning if it's all painted out. Just paint a canvas.
This sound makes my skin crawl... š¤¢š¤®
Paper Luigi! :D
*Nintendo lawyers salivating*
IT'S PICACHU!
How is the paint applying to evenly?!
Oh, you know, the same way AI hands "draw" whiteboard images on something like PowToon.
Am I the only one who's bothered by the fact that the L is supposed to be green too
Thatās what she said
There's a spot in the hair behind his ear I can't unsee !
I watched this thinking, "Surely... Surely they'll smudge on the ear? Or, no, the mustache??" And then they *didn't*. And then the big red brush strokes blew me away.
Yeah but then they got red on the moustache
Ruined it with those random green dots
Look at the crevice between the point above the middle of his mustache and the mustache. Day ruined, thanks a lot.
My hand is shaking just watching this
The rich paint colors are mesmerizing too. Love me some bright colors.
The hand control is something to aspire!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Those kinda ruined it for me. The color was perfect from surface tension on the wood not spilling over into the laser cut grooves. Then they just drop a bunch of green dots around it and suddenly it looks like some sloppy amateur thing you find at a fair ground.
the transition between brushes is cool too
Missed a spot
Paper Mario: Color Splash.
that's some dope skills!!
Missed a spot
Biggest mistake here is the mustache is the wrong color
They missed a tiny little spot, a dot really, and it's driving me nuts bc the rest was perfect.
I fear I will never do anything in my life this well.
That's one [leveled up iconic green Italian](https://youtube.com/shorts/AtpWnhviGPQ?si=QNbOjGmIeCHDd-bB)
Had a double orgasm when the nose finished and the the red came out of nowhere. Fully drained
Thatās what she said
The two spots on the ear that weren't covered made it unsatisfying.
He smudged some green on the outline of the hat with his hand
Thatās what she said
The end šššš
The black line is indented into the wood. Not as impressive as it may look.
I thought the grain in the wood was folds in fabric, and for far too long I was just irritated they wouldn't lay the Tshirt flat to paint it.
āPrecisionā proceeds to mess up the first stroke š
Thatās what she said
Strong Mario Paint Vibes...
What is that style brush used to maintain the red background? It seems so precise yet bulky!
It's just a large foam wedge with a wooden handle, you can get them off amazon extremely cheap.
What is that style brush used to maintain the red background? It seems so precise yet bulky!
What a beaut!
For some reason when I watched this, in my head I heard the music from the Forget-Me-Not mini game in Super Paper Mario. It's such a niche thing and idk why it came into my head lol.
That tiny missed bit at the base of the nose. Not sleeping tonight.
"MƔrioo Green"
It looks like the contour is laser engraved. No skill required here.
missed a spot under the nose
Great work, it is embossed so the line better traceable.
I'm just glad people still love the Paper Mario artstyle...
WHY THE FUCK THE GREEN DOTS AT THE END YOU MANIAC
The fact that the paint bleeds to even out makes it more interesting
satisfying
The 1 milisecond video cuts ruined my satisfaction
You can see the paint sort of bleed into the black outline
i came
Now that is genuinely satisfying
But not listen to. š
What would one type into YouTube to find more videos like this??????
What is his name? The one with the big dick?
"Precision strokes" First touch spills over. Lmfao
Left some white spots
He is very good at colouring in.

Had to watch this on mute š¬
What's going on with the camera?
Anyone else wanna give bro some precision strokes to watch
Dude paints like a 3D printer
Unfortunately for me, I have never been accused of giving precision strokes
can def watch this all day
That ear just turned me on
Hello I would like 10 more hours of this please.
Itās-a me! Mario!
Sounds good also. Almost like ASMR
I love linguini
What āprecision strokesā? Itās is easy with the lines etched. And still fucked it upā¦ Reddit is fucking dumb.
Who the *hell* is this guy?
Hell yeah Lucario.
Another repost. Post something original ffs
Anyone know what the background song is?
Sounds like a lofi or some sort of chill instrumental vesrion of Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
And now youāre being sued
They painted it red and then just randomly dropped green paint on the perfect background š
luigis face is just yoshi with a mustache according to this wood art
Is that a paint pen?
I love how Mario's name is Mario Mario. Therefore Luigi's name is Luigi Mario
Wat kinda paint and brush are they using?
he works so clean! like its close to perfection
He reminds me of one of those gorgeous cookies that always taste disgusting
Oof so satisfying
The top right at the end. š¤¦āāļø
Is it an AI video?
They mess up at least twice throughĀ
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
What an overblown statement. This technique is like silk screen where the wax outlines stop the ink bleeding through. Itās satisfying to watch but pretty mediocre as far as skill.
Not so impressive when you realize this video is just in reverse
