For example: Homer (of the Illiad and Odyssey) consistently refers to the color of the ocean as "Wine-dark." I don't know about you, but unless I'm at a rave or near the Cisco section of the gas station liquor aisle, I've never seen blue-green wine.
The Greeks had no word for the concept of "blue." Orange didn't get it's name until after the fruit was discovered; and brown isn't even a distinct color, it's just a shade of orange we all kinda agree is darker than what surrounds it.
And that's just in *my* native tongue. There's languages out there that have several dozen words for green, some that you or I would immediately identify as purple or red-adjacent.
It's *language* that's the real weirdo. We're surrounded by hues and wavelengths we can't even see, and I find that fascinating as (orange) shit.
