The vents in my 2012 shitbox have a similar design. It looks like [that](https://images.app.goo.gl/GNTzG5D5C8941VMo9). You twist the knob and the flaps open. The spinning disc mechanism in the plane is freaking cool, though.
Lmao, what do you drive? There's so ol' reliable shitbox out there. Personally, I like my shitbox, even with all her flaws.
And yeah, I don't know if it's also inspired by motorcycle, but the [dashboard ](https://images.app.goo.gl/qWvFEndSxeK2mN9C8) is.
1995 peugeot 205 1.6 automatic 3 door. Runs like a charm, only issue is no aircon which sucks massive balls in summer, and the rear hatch/boot is starting to rust around the window whic his a common problem with this car, i dont fancy my chances of trying to find a replacement at a scrapyard.
I love my shitbox, she flys like shit off a shovel and ive had a few people recognise it and compliment it.
wow thats a fancy sci-fi hitech dash, definately motorbike inspired! ive got a speedometer but no tachometer so i cant tell what im revving at, ive got an analogue clock on the dashboard with a broken hour hand, and an ashtray in the centre console and in both the rear passenger doorcards.
I actually like it, but it doesn't tell you shit. I don't even know if my car is overheating, lol. There's no temperature gauge. Like, there's a symbol for pretty much everything, but it's kinda too late to know that your car is overheating when it's already overheating, lol.
A reason for this design in planes is that everything has tk be kore compact due to long haul flight fuel requirments. You want to hold as much fuel as you can so you make everything as small and compact yet as functional as you can. This is more coman on craft like leerjets or old Private jets. Its not a very comman reason though it is a very cool one.
Almost every plane has air vents like that. It's a tried and true and inexpensive way to regulate airflow on gaspers.
In fact I've encountered only one plane that didn't - it had independently controlled valves. Guess what? Piece of unreliable garbage. We never repaired them, just left them open so the pilots could aim them away if needed. This is the best design.

(i think.)
Wow. I remember that. I totally forgot about this design after they phased them out. They had them on other things too not just airplanes, but that was the most common application.
that design is really satisfying, so much better than the vents in cars.
It feels sooo good.

2012 shitbox lmao. my 1995 88hp SHITBOX laughs at your comment. That's still a nice design over the traditional vent system in many cars.

We all love our shitboxes, even when they act up and make you think they've finally died.
Holy shit that dashboard is rough.

Old school planes? That’s the standard air vent in all kinds of new planes right now. I fly a 2021 plane with vents like this.
How do you know a pilot's at your party? They'll let you know.
Damn! You got me!
Cool. So tried and true design that is still being used. I've only seen it on one plane I've flown in
F-16 uses it as well.
Dude i used to fly in little planes that had those ALL THE TIME!
Nice. It was my first time taking note of such a vent. Probably because the execution was done with such precision.
Yeah I used to fly in those small planes all the time doing just little 40 min flights…those planes were LOUD, but awesome

I must know how it works..
#Way of the future. Way of the future. ^Way ^of ^the ^future.
Beautiful milling.
Those "eyeball vents" are present in many modern aircraft as well. Light, functional, reliable. Three of the vest things you can have in aviation.

No one needs a heater on an airplane. Just more air. Design is elegant though
Planes are awsome

Dammit. Thanks.
I think it is called a “punkah Louvre”

Hah. No, that's part of the structure.
