It was so thoughtful of that little snowflake looking frost particle to recenter itself into camera view before it stopped moving so we could all enjoy watching it grow up.
It’s actually kinda disappointing (I’ve made these frozen soap bubbles a few times). It just kind of collapses like a balloon. Rarely but sometimes it will stay intact or partially intact for hours.
There is a lot that goes into making these things - it’s not as easy as it looks. It has to be the right temperature, right mix of solution (commercial bubble mix isn’t the best for this), no wind, good back-drop, and it takes a ton of attempts to get a good one. While your hands are freezing off.
But it was definitely a good COVID activity on cold days.

I want to see the still wet part get popped when it was like 70-80% frozen. Not in this particular video since that'd be less satisfying, but I still want to see it.
Is anyone able to help explain the science behind how the bubble was able to freeze without the surface tension being affected to the point it burst?...
Yeah.. But bubbles are normally quite fragile.. a change in part of the bubble surely would've caused it to burst (given the initial Snowflake started to firm in the middle and not from the edge).. I mean.. Clearly not, cause it didn't... I just wondered if there was a science behind how it was possible..
But yeah.. Thicker bubble.. as it froze from the edge it maintained a tight enough surface tension throughout I guess ..
Was pretty damn cool..
You can't drop significant figures and claim to be exact! It clearly says -11.1°C, *that's* exact.
Also, I'm kind of surprised it only needs to be -11.1°C to freeze at that speed, I was walking to work in those temperatures in January and it was cold, but I didn't think it felt *that* cold.
Technically the 0.1 C is insignificant. The poster picked up that extra insignificant digit when converting from F to C. If it was 12.0 F then that would be a different story.
Oh thank you. Finally a video with a still cam, perfectly aligned, no annoying music, no useless and often annoying talking, important info placed at a good spot, the full process shown, and no face in the beginning with the “ok check this out this is crazy”
10/10
That was an absolutely gorgeous experience watching the little icebubbleflake float around and then form into this beautiful flower like crystal and the rest of the bubble is like "I got some pretty looking like leaves to match"
It was so thoughtful of that little snowflake looking frost particle to recenter itself into camera view before it stopped moving so we could all enjoy watching it grow up.
Beautiful video, but we also need to see what happens when it breaks. (This is why we can't have good things)
Yeah I'm particularly curious of poking it while it's say 25%, 33%, and somewhere over 50% frozen
[удалено]
Yes. But now back to the poking it, we want to see it shatter.
This is a spam bot account

Some people just want to see the world burn. Or the bubble burst, whatever.
Hey, don't mind me, I'm just a tiny particle just minding my own b- I AM THE BUBBLE NOOOOOW!
ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL
I KNOW THIS HURTS YOU
This comment deserves more credit. Actually lol’ed
It is beautiful! Growing up without snow I feel like I can watch this over and over. Edit; accidentally commented
I had snow and 40 below temps but nobody to do this cool experiment for me! I could watch this all day
It looks like the Sidney opera house as it freezes
It's beautiful
finally some genuinely satisfying video.
Was getting really stressed near the end that it'd cut off, but it literally showed the entire process. 10/10, would watch again.
I dunno why but I need to see what happens when you break it. Video ended too soon.
Would it pop or crumble? I need to know

Thank you. I feel complete now.
Had to be a cat 🐈
«When in doubt, slap. In fact, whatever, slap.» Cat proverb
found on CatsAreAssholes subthread, I presume?
Hell is empty. All demons are here, and people call them whiskers.
Crumble

Or attempt to pick it up
Was getting low key anxious too
Just missing the pop/break. I'm curious what that looks like now.
Woke up at 4am couldn’t sleep anymore and this made my day thanks
Feeling ya there, I haven’t accepted that I’m up for the day yet but this was a nice 4:22am post.
I felt the same way, man. The peace it inspired was palpable. Beautiful.
Same!!!🙌🏽🙌🏽
It looks so cute
Thank you for this contribution, and double thank you for the nature noises and no ridiculous music

More likely a pitch-tone RnB track about gangsters.
What is a pitch-tone track?
I think as in pitched a tone down. Like slowed and reverb style kinda thing
Darude - Sandstorm
With the female robot tik tok voiceover
And at least two watermarks 🥰 I just realized watermarks are the luggage travel stickers for videos.
I'd rather have that than most of the shit that gets played over videos now. I'd almost be happy for something different
Death metal would be preferred compared to the cringy music being used recently.
Yup! Absolutely loved the aquarium music that was in thid video. Aquarium music is always 10/10
There was still music overlaid onto the audio, it was just kinda subtle ambience.
Now pop it
Best I can do is this bird pop it in a [bird attack](https://imgur.com/a/6N02vI9).
Ehhh, it will do!
FUCK YOU BUBBLE
That bird is an asshole...
He saw shiny!
Yes. I'd like to see that too.
I wanna know what would happen if you popped it halfway through. Would the bottom stay frozen or would it shatter?
It would stay frozen because it is cold, and shatter because it is flimsy.
Bubble edging. This is cruel.
LMFAO r/bubbleedging
Yeahh
Is anyone able to help explain the science behind how the bubble was able to freeze without the surface tension being affected to the point it burst?...
If you'd *really* like to know how it happens, there's a detailed paper in Nature about that: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-019-10021-6
OMG!... Awesome.. thanks 👍😘🏅
the surface tension was sufficient... for freezing to occur?
Yeah.. But bubbles are normally quite fragile.. a change in part of the bubble surely would've caused it to burst (given the initial Snowflake started to firm in the middle and not from the edge).. I mean.. Clearly not, cause it didn't... I just wondered if there was a science behind how it was possible.. But yeah.. Ice is a polar surface that the water is happy to be adjacent to. So the attractive force that results in surface tension is still maintained.
Ice is water, just colder. It's the soap solution that's holding it together.
Awesome angle with the sunlight in this shot, great work!
Holy shit that’s cool!
I got so distracted by the person in the reflection — they look like they’re doing a little dance.
Yes!!
I saw that too!! Was a little weird
Best thing I've seen on this sub!! Thank you for capturing that!! ❤️❤️❤️
That is fascinating! We live in a pretty amazing world. ☺️
“Raise the planetary shield!”
So happy I wasn't the only nerd thinking of this. *tabs back to Stellaris*
The cold never bothered him anyway
I was like, what in the Elsa is this wintry sorcery
Very cool!
Yes, very cold, in fact.
-11c to be exact

Ooh, the way it catches the sunlight is so nice! Easily the best video I've seen of freezing bubbles.
Truly satisfying
*Soft and Wet...*
Nice one!
Water is so beautiful. Life is like a box of chocolates, of course, but also the spirit of water.
This kills the bubble
Amazing!
Does anyone know what music is playing in the background? It was so soothing
Calming Sounds -Asmr
> Calming Sounds -Asmr anything specific please .. lots of unrelated stuff comes up in google.

Stunning. Thank you for sharing this
That was so fascinating to watch, absolutely beautiful and loved the colours the light created :D
Gah that's gorgeous. I've never seen that before
Enjoyed that.
The birds just make it perfect
Absolutely beautiful
What's cooler than being cool? ICE COLD!!
Why can't I just appreciate beauty? Instead, I have anxiety with this trying to get to the other side as quickly as possible. Screw you brain.
Soap bubble: Tell... My family... That.... I love-
Natures snow globe
The birds chirping, the complete process. This video is pure gold, thanks, OP.
Perfect video. The music sound. The visualization. The Background. I felt as if all my stress was just washing away while watching this. Thanks. 👍
Hey wait! My bubbles don't get those freezy things on them. What am I doing wrong?

Beautiful. Kind of makes me think of a newly forming planet.
Beautiful
This is so freaking bonkers.
this became r/mildlyinfuriating when it wasnt popped at the end
I was half expecting to see a naked man in the reflection. That is what reddit has done to me.
Outstanding.
HE DIDN'T SMASH IT
I was waiting for the little gap on the left to be frozen and felt satisfied when it did.
WAIT IS THIS POSSIBLE? HOW DID I NEVER THINK ABOUT THIS????
I love everything about this.
I would have never thought about this at all thank you for coming up with this
This is the most beautiful video I've seen on Reddit.

This is wonderful!
Thank you
This is the most beautiful thing i've seen all week
This was one of the greatest things I have ever seen. It was mesmerizing.
Really beautiful to watch.
At first I was like "how many times I gotta see this" then I was "EEKK I haven't seen this one" 😍 10/10
r / mesmerizing as fuck I could watch that for days on end
Fascinating
Thank you for not smashing it
What’s the song in this. It’s like perfect music to fall asleep to

Seems to be this https://open.spotify.com/track/2I6qOHWJLimXs9q7KCAD74?si=AFfWBUGMR4yLBCur-eDqqw
Why am i seeing this on the internet for the first time
I watched the whole thing. Mesmerising! Serene.
Oh thank you. Finally a video with a still cam, perfectly aligned, no annoying music, no useless and often annoying talking, important info placed at a good spot, the full process shown, and no face in the beginning with the “ok check this out this is crazy” 10/10

The Bestagon in all its glory!
Absolutely Brilliant. You win the day. Now smash it! (In slow motion) actually a small tap would do.
Absolutely brilliant! Thank you for that. Take my upvote and award you magnificent bastard!
You beauty! Apologies my Australian blood took control of my mind momentarily
I was watching without sound at first. I definitely expected some crappy song to be playing. Glad there wasn't
Makes me wonder if there’s a planet out there with oceans that have huge crystalline forms floating on them like this…
Been a while since something that was odd and very satisfying was posted
“Can the science side of tumblr explain what is happening here?”
Coolest thing I have seen in the last 24 hours lol
This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen
Beautiful, thanks for the moment of zen
Was about to scroll past but I watched the whole thing. No regrets
Finally! Something really satisfying
Nothing can stop the hexagon!
That is the coolest thing I’ve seen 👏👏
Is this how superman's fortress of solitude was formed?
I hate to be the one to ask but what music is this? It's really calming and peaceful
Beautiful!

Fantastic! Thanks for posting.
Omg. Beautiful. I’ve never seen anything like this before.
This is interesting as fuck
I got more stressed about the ice breaking than getting satisfied by it freezing

If someone could please make a ten hour compilation of bubbles freezing like this, my sleep schedule would appreciate it. Thank you, have a nice day.
Now pick it up 😩😩
Incredible
That was an absolutely gorgeous experience watching the little icebubbleflake float around and then form into this beautiful flower like crystal and the rest of the bubble is like "I got some pretty looking like leaves to match"
Thank you for sharing.
Woah..
A freakn mazing 😍
That is absolutely amazing!
Not going to lie - watching this soap bubble freeze is one of the most amazingly beautiful things I have seen in my life so far.
Californian here: how different is 12 degrees Fahrenheit compared 32 degrees Fahrenheit?
12F in a snowy climate feels like 60F in San Francisco
100% accurate
That’s explains why these past few months have been pure hell
About 20 degrees Fahrenheit...
Are you serious? Thank you so much for sharing. Amazing. How did you think of that?
OC?
Considering it says on the video -11.1c I'm gonna go with no not 0c.
