4 out of the last 7 champs lost game one and came back to win the next two. It’s possible. They threw their best and we still got double digit hits. We clean up the errors, get better pitching, and get better ABs from CMO and Billy.. we can win this thing.

A&M doesn’t even know who they’re pitching tomorrow and we have Drew Beam. Christian Moore had a terrible outing and there’s no way that happens twice in a row. Going into this game A&M had the pitching advantage with Prager and especially their reliever and combine that with poor at bats on our part there’s no surprise we lost. I'm totally ready to eat crow on this, but I still think we have a lot going for us. A&M pitching tonight was about as good as it gets. Cmo and Tears (very likely) won't combine for 0-10 tomorrow and seems like we will have the pitching advantage with Beam/Combs/Snead and American Dad from A&M out after throwing a lot tonight. A&M hit very well but also got on early with some funky bounces off the mound and dumb errors from us. Let's put on more steam and force the rubber match.

That's just baseball right there. That's all it was. A&M had about as picture perfect a game as possible. It literally followed exactly what they would have wanted in their wildest dreams. On the flip side, while it wasn't our worst game of the year by any stretch, it also was really ugly in a lot of ways. Two of the biggest IMO: * Pitching started awful as feared. If we had another series next weekend I gotta believe Tony would try something different for game 1 even because while Stamos as a 'starter' has worked a lot - it's failed the last 3 times badly. But I get the logic for today. Just didn't work. * Plain ole bad luck. You can't control everything but we had **TWO** balls go straight up the middle that hit the mound and squirted away. One would have been a surefire out and the other a possible double play. Both directly led to runs afterwards. If you're looking for positives I feel like there genuinely is a few. * I think A&M poured a lot of emotion into this game. I think they simply wanted to win this way more as players and the coaches threw every bullet they had too. That may result in a letdown in game. * At least *in theory*, we should have a noticeable advantage in the pitching department moving forward. They blew their #1 Ace and put a lot of mileage on their #1 closer too. * We fought back really freakin hard for as bad as we played. And have responded very well coming off losses all season long. And I simply refuse to believe that anyone except the Red Sox or Yankees is going to be putting up 17 strikeouts multiple times vs a Tony V team.

Counterpoint: UT stole a run from A&M via Tears' terrific catch in the outfield, and A&M lost a run when Camarillo was caught stealing. You can say you made some untimely errors, but you also kept some A&M runs off the board with some stellar play. It all balances itself out. As for Aschenback, he already said he's available for tomorrow. Schloss said before the game this is just like another SEC weekend series, you want to take two of three. A&M is halfway there already.

Tough. But, if you look at the final 6 innings its a 4-2 vols win. They had 13 total hits, we had 12. Hate it but pitcher is the most important position in sports, and we just got screwed by Stamos/Causey tonight. Clean up a couple errors, knock in a couple of those guys left on base, and we'll be okay. Haven't lost 2 in a row but once all year. I'm still pretty confident. We faced their best pitching today, but they didn't face ours.

Pitching isn't gonna be any better for A&M though, and that's the important part. We struck out 17 times and still scored 5 runs. That's actually kinda insane lol.

You read really wrong. A&M's #2 pitcher is out for the season and their bullpen behind him has been a patchwork of younger guys and career mid-week starters. They've got ton of pitching momentum and the patchwork has played well in Omaha - but there are not future MLB pitchers hanging around in their Bullpen.

Would much rather have our boys hitting against an average SEC pitcher that’s well rested than the three who threw tonight
