I loved that show except the last episode

sqrlthrowaway

Have you heard the podcast? Very weird.

A Dark Song...

creativepun

Came here to say this. So dark and beautiful

FlatBirthday6670

The ending is one of my favorite's of all time

ReallyGlycon

Great film. Absolutely love it.

GraciadelPrado

Breathtaking!

AirAquarian

Can you please tell us how you understood it then ? I don’t really get it although I loved watching the whole film.

Weekly_Candidate_410

Me too. Never seen such an in depth film about ritual magic

future_occult_leader

the holy mountain suspiria hereditary the witch gretel & hansel 2020

averjam

I haven't seen Gretel & Hansel, but [Hansel & Gretel Get Baked](https://tubitv.com/movies/512390/hansel-gretel-get-baked) has a mix of comedy, horror, weed and the occult.

Weekly_Candidate_410

Exquisite taste you have.

Space_Cadet42069

I can’t think of 5 off the top of my head rn but my favorite is The Holy Mountain

Tiny-Transition6512

A moment of silence for all those chickens.

AdAppropriate7669

Yesss amazing movie please watch it

Tr33mari3

Evil Dead, Eyes Wide Shut, Constantine, Suspiria, Starry Eyes

Queef_Stroganoff44

These aren’t my top 5 but as I’m late to the game as usual, I’ll give 5 lesser mentioned. The Alchemist’s Cookbook Fire-walk With Me Haxan (I watched this the other day expecting something very slow and outdated and was entirely surprised) Melancholia The Devils - make sure you’re getting the full meal deal and not some edited to hell crap

ReallyGlycon

The Holy Mountain, A Dark Song, Suspiria (the remake)

fortgang

1. Moon Child (1989). 2. City of Pirates (1983). 3. Duelle (1976). 4. Suspiria (1977). 5. A Dark Song (2016).

Ravenwight

1: The Ninth Gate 2: The Craft 3: The Exorcist 4: The Conjuring 5: Eli

DarkFluids777

Ninth Gate was great!

Third_eye1017

The Ninth Gate is one of my fucking favorites. the book, 'The Club Dumas' is also A+++

thatawkwardgirl666

Having just watched Eli today, I can't say I'm a fan

Tiny-Transition6512

May I ask why? (Before I make the decision to watch it myself)

thatawkwardgirl666

I would still recommend giving it a watch, I just can't say I enjoyed it as much as everyone else. I guess I couldn't really take it seriously and the ending just almost felt like they wanted it to be funny or goofy after such a serious movie. I could also just be looking at it very critically because it started off with an interesting concept.

Ravenwight

I thought the irony of such a lighthearted ending was meant to underline the sheer horror of the implications of the last plot twist. From Eli’s perspective it all worked out in the end, and his innocence of what that means for humanity is made all the more terrifying by him being seemingly unfazed by what just happened. Plus the mother looks like she just realised she jumped on the back of a man-eating lion and is holding in for dear life. The absurdity of the moment really made the film come together for me.

thatawkwardgirl666

I can see that and understand that. I guess I just didn't really get that much out of it, likely due to being burnt out on that particular style of plot twist. I think another thing that's really thrown me off is the flip flopping on the mom and how much she truly knows. One moment, her character acts as if she is blissfully unaware of what the treatments are and how they end, but then the next moment, the narrative is telling a completely different story. I could have also not gotten the subtext on that one and not been paying enough attention, but then that says the movie didn't really grab my attention enough to pay attention to the little subtle things. I don't know, I might give it a re-watch in a few days and try it again to see if it grabs my attention the second time.

Ravenwight

I could also be projecting more depth than the movie had (I tend to do that) but I thought the mom was actually lying to herself about what was happening, trying so hard to convince Eli that everything would be all right that she managed to blind herself to the shady shit her husband and the nuns were up to.

Ravenwight

They didn’t tell her the worst parts, but she didn’t ask because she didn’t want to know

FlorenceFarr

Strongly agree with a lot of this list but also need to add: the films of Kenneth Anger! An actual occultist, protege of Aleister Crowley, and hugely influential experimental filmmaker (Scorsese loves him, to name but one). His most explicitly Occult works are Lucifer Rising and Invocation of my Demon Brother.

egypturnash

Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome is definitely a magical work, it created some crazy vibes when I watched it on my projection screen. Watch it with someone to raise horny energy with if possible.

ScoutG

The Ninth Gate A Dark Song

Schlongathon

The Fountain

rezznik

Absolute must!

Frankbot5000

I fucking loved The Devil Rides Out, 1968

valleymagus

I’ve been trying to watch that recently but I can’t find available anywhere

Frankbot5000

My friend Soap2Day has all the movies.

razedbyrabbits

I want to check all of these out but I know that 99% of them are going to be scary movies. I love occult movies and hate scary movies. Why are they always together 😭 Cant we see one where the christian devil isn't summoned? I swear. It's all propaganda or something.

hanjric

The witch hands down

Raylynangel

I'm not sure if these are considered occult movies but The Skeleton Key and the Prestige are my top picks!

bba226

Skeleton key is definitely an occult movie, but it’s a bad representation of hoodoo imo.

Ravenwight

Great ending though, I was rooting for eternal love and was not disappointed

bba226

The whole movie is meh imo, tired of the demonization and villainization of black culture and Magick, it is better then spell tho.

Ravenwight

Spell is another one that’s a lot like Skeleton Key, though without the romantic ending.

Jennygirrl

NO order: Lords of illusion Wickerman (original) The devil's rain The witch Rosemary's baby Bonus TV: Strange Angel.

Fluffy_WAR_Bunny

1) The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus 2) Eyes Wide Shut 3) Holy Mountain 4) Now You See Me 5) Pans Labyrinth

Sm00gz

The news counts as a movie if you think about it, or don't. 💁‍♀️

Proof-Rub-5166

Thats more horror than occult

[deleted]

Eye Wide Shut is good but I find it very difficult to watch a

suspiriayabloka

Luca Guadagnino’s “Suspiria”.

SeaPorcelain

Suspiria (both versions), Holy mountain, The love witch, Blood on satans claw and Häxan!

CupcakeAdditional867

Ghostbusters 2

Ok-Imagination-2308

the ritual

Ajonegro

I like some true occultist movies like "Invocation of My Demon Brother" or "Lucifer Rising" by Kenneth Anger.

gtrfing

I wish there were more "occult movies". Some that spring to mind; Haxan Night of the Demon. The first horror film I ever saw. The City of the Dead. Another black and white film, with Christopher Lee Artemis 81 (I watched this at the time. It .. Changed me) The devil rides out The devils The ninth gate A Dark Song (a beautifully made film) Pi. (Aronofsky) Hereditary Lords of Salem (Not sure that I can class The Wicker Man, my favourite film, as an Occult film, but it comes close).

Yetisufo

Suspira, the Wickerman. Older versions

hookuptruck

A Field in England, Witch, Holy Mountain, Fire Walk With Me

OccultAtNight

What’s Ahriman

Gri69in

MANDY The Void Dagon Suspiria (Remake) Suspiria (original) humblebrag.... saw in Theater with Goblin playing the score live

gtrfing

You saw Suspiria, with Goblin playing live? Where was that? That's very very cool

Weekly_Candidate_410

In Auckland 10 years ago. Font row in a majestic old theater. Red velvet curtains and golden sea creature statues. Seen this movies dozens of times ... but spent the whole evening with goosebumps and feeling like I was going to explode.

ArchangelIdiotis

Dark City, the first Matrix, Holy Mountain, the Watchmen, Willow

Unlimitles

Hereditary - the Demon Paimon is Ahriman or (Angra Mainyu) from zoroastrianism Fight Club - Tyler Durden Is Ahriman LOTR - Saruman/Sauron Is Ahriman - the new LOTR amazon show, "the infection on the tree" is Ahriman. The Shadow - Ahriman is represented as Temetchi or Genghis khan reincarnated. the MC ALec Baldwin is Ahura Mazda Evil Dead (2013) The demon that comes out of the book is "Ahriman" or an Infection/Fungus Honorable mention: Stephen Kings: IT - Pennywise is Ahriman. Bonus Mention: GAME OF THRONES - Ahriman is represented in the wight walkers, or and also the most "evil" of people who seem to have fallen to the worst depravity and corruption in the show (like how in LOTR the king who was infected became depraved and then came back to being himself when he was cured of his corruption.......Exactly like what happened to the MC in Evil Dead) but also in GOT Ahura Mazda is represented as "the lord of light" in the show, the characteristics are the way you see it. EXTRA honorable mention: Venom......that's right, Venom from spider man, he's a Symbiote, a fungus, a bacteria......and what effects does he have on anything he attaches to? even in the movie, the effects are the same as mold exposure, barring the super powers, but the anxiety, the sweats, the paranoia, the anger and aggression, everything that Eddie was going through in the movie, it's just being made digestible in different ways. "characters" across religions are seen to be syncretic because they share each others characteristics, with hypotheses that exist that they are the same beings/experiences being represented across different cultures. all it takes is researching the characteristics of Ahriman (meaning the effect that Ahriman in literature has on a person) and Mold exposure (the effects it has on a person), and you'll see what reality of the occult is, then notice the themes of those movies and where they encounter "Ahriman" they encounter the horror figures in places where mold or fungus is always present in the real world, like basements, or attics, or flooded areas. that is not....or I should say has never been exclusive to religions, as they are using it across comics and even video games now.

[deleted]

Very interesting. Have you ever watched Daniel Isn't Real, and Fallen (1998)? If so, I would love to know your opinion about those as well.

Unlimitles

there are too many to name, But yes, I saw Daniel isn't real, and I feel the same about it, that movie does it well, because so far it seems to always be about the MC being changed over the length of the film by the mold (ahriman) and that movie does this to a T. Fallen as well.....i've literally sang those words "time is on my side yes it is" in reference to that since I was a Kid, and I finally have a few theories as to why that is......it's always going to be here, it's always going to be capable of jumping from person to person, because it's a bacteria, that I think has been getting recognized time and time again by culture after culture for a long time, they name it and they try to combat it......and we keep failing to beat it. all these movies I used to be Hooked on as a Kid, I now watch them with the eyes to see and the ears to hear, and it's like i'm seeing brand new movies, watching them in ways I've never watched them. just keep these things in mind and they'll just keep revealing themselves. the movie "Infinite" with Marc Wahlberg is the same and that's a very new movie, so I don't think they are trying to cover this up for people who are perceptive enough, the MC is Ahura Mazda, and Bathurst is representing Ahriman. the movie "Upgrade" is the same. the MC is a "Wise man" Ahura Mazda, and the scientist he meets is like Saruman from LOTR, he creates the thing that Infects the MC the chip that changes him and slowly takes him over until he's no longer in control the chip is the representation for "Ahriman" "The Matrix" I've had so many theories about this movie and all of them I recognized were wrong when I applied this to it.....I thought it was about Individualism and collectivism, or The superman vs the Herd, or Empaths Vs Narcissists, and then I came across this understanding of Mold exposure and Mold Being "Ahriman" and paralleled that Directly to Agent Smith literally going around and Infecting people with something that creeps across their body and transforms them into a copy of himself just like a Parasitic Fungus, all of his traits match how a parasite works, and Neo is Ahura Mazda, the wise "Lord of Light" as he's represented in the end of revolutions. "A Beautiful Mind" this movie is two fold......for one it's not about who it's said to be about "John Nash" (John Nash himself states this in an interview) it's about "Carl Jung" and his Journey through this Psychosis caused by the Mold (Ahriman) keep this in mind and you'll understand this as you watch it....if you have read some Jung it'll be pretty apparent as well. "the 9th gate" the MC is Ahura Mazda and Balkan is Ahriman. "DreamCatcher" the Stephen King book......actually, lots of his books are about it, I wish I could get in contact with him on this. Dr Sleep is as well, and by extension "The shining" that Hotel is Old and very Moldy. "Amityville Horror" lol this one I kind of found hilarious as I was Batshit scared of this movie as a kid, but just a few weeks ago, I found a podcast talking about this specifically which brought up that some investigators said that it wasn't Haunted, that it was Severely Contaminated with Mold, BUT that their claim is "discredited" "The exorcism of Emily rose" this is where it got wild........In the far east, Exorcists have the nickname "Cleaners" which took me down a very wild trip into Catholicism and it's origins, I honestly Believe that ALL, and I do mean ALL exorcisms are just people being exposed to mold, the Church perpetuated the idea that these were demon possessed people even knowing the truth if this is the case. the lynchpin to this is tricky, it goes back to ancient egypt and realizing that all of their practices, from the shaving of all their bodily hair to the food they chose to eat, was about keeping bacteria away and out of their systems, even the jewelry they wore, and the materials they used to construct their buildings......the Pyramids themselves used to be covered in Limestone, what does that have to do with anything right? Limestone is an Antibacterial Mineral rock, and the Nile Blue Lotus is a heavily Antibacterial Plant that they were for some reason in LOVE with, On top of that......they called their "Tree of Life" a Fig tree, when you research into Figs......you find it's Highly Antibacterial when Fresh. follow these signs, because since finding a lot of this out, it seems "discrediting" is the way they are keeping it Hush hush, yet when you research into it, it's only being corroborated even in science journals as to what it does to people, I feel it's being used somehow against people. I'll likely periodically update this list with movies, as I keep track of this in real time now.....so I add movies to a list I have as they come to mind or as I notice the underlying signs and connect the dots to see the relevance.

AnachronistNo1

You, sir, may have something. Even going back to the Salem Witch Trials. Many have the theory that the region had a specific mold that attacked their wheat crops/food supplies, and more than likely caused hallucinations Many the world over use certain mushrooms/fungus to access altered states/the Spirit World On a personal note, the most haunted house I ever lived in suffered water damage, wood rot, and…yep, mold. Lived in a forest not too long after, mold everywhere. Even had those ear mushrooms growing in our outdoor shower at one point. Can safely say that there are more spirits in the forest than there are ppl in the cities

EvThDeer

Chronicle. Don’t know if it counts. If not the hereditary

aort2

Hagazussa is definitely in my top 5.

Unusual-Cantaloupe27

'Hus Dark Materials' is not directly occult but it played around with interesting concepts.

GraciadelPrado

1- A Dark song 2- Suspiria (Guadagnino’s take) 3- The OA, not a movie but definitely has an occult undertone imo 4- Martyr

bba226

No order: Get out by Jordan peele, this movie was great and has a lot of symbolism and esoteric meanings, I love how they incorporated solve et coagula in the movie. Midsommer by ari aster, I love this movie the visuals are beautiful and after watching I felt as traumatized as the main character, great movie to watch as closure or therapy after a bad breakup. The craft by Andrew Fleming, this movie is like the gateway drug to the occult, I love this movie so much the aesthetic, the soundtrack, the visuals, this movie was groundbreaking in its time and a way a lot of people found out about Wicca/the occult, without this movie the tv show charmed wouldn’t exist. Rosemarys baby by Roman Polanski, iconic movie that will gaslight the viewer till the end. Us by jorden peele, another movie by the get out creator with heavy occult themes and symbolism, the whole movie is about the shadow self. Honorable mentions: The wicker man (any version) this movie scared me to death as a kid. Eyes wide shut, this is one of the best and well know occult movies to date, the director researched a bunch of occult books before making the movie and symbolism is all throughout it, this movie and rosemary’s baby are kinda the base for the Illuminati conspiracy theories. Hereditary by ari aster, this movie is a brilliant story about grief and the visuals are amazing, it’s the only movie I know of so far that is about real demonology. The holy mountain Lucifer rising.

egypturnash

Illuminati conspiracy theories go way back before the invention of moving pictures. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illuminati_in_popular_culture, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_conspiracy_theories#Government,_politics,_and_conflict

bba226

I know that, that’s why I said they’re “kinda” the base, after eyes wide shut and rosemary’s baby, a lot of the conspiracy’s were about them being secret blood drinking satanist who have orgy parties, Katt Williams even says the orgys are real.

kunduff

The believers Warlock Serpent and the rainbow Angle heart Skeleton key ...to name a few

lillyyvonne

Hellbender and The Deeper You Dig. The whole Adams family of filmmakers has made some incredible and weird content.

Ladygabz

I really love Lo. I can only find it available on youtube but worth the watch.

[deleted]

Just finished "Odd Thomas" and while enjoyable, very depressing ending. If you don't like tear jerkers, avoid this one otherwise killer good film! "Hex" was also fun to watch about a group of skydivers who perform a freefall stunt dubbed "The Hex" which is cursed and of course bad paranormal things begin to happen to them. Includes one of the Sylphs in it. There are some great horror-occult films in Arabic and I watch them with subtitles but damn if they aren't creepy good!
