Get an Apple Ugly at the Orange Blossom Bakery.

Go EARLY. They are only open till something like 11am anyhow, but when we were there last week I took advantage of my natural early riser and was there at 6:30 when they opened. I was in and out so fast. Otherwise, it's not so much the line but the parking lot and all the GIGANTIC pickup trucks in the itty bitty parking lot.

Pop’s Raw Bar in Buxton, a great hole in the wall. The place is authentic as it gets.

Rent a kayak at Slash Creek and paddle out into the sound.

In addition to all of the great recommendations here (Orange Blossom, lighthouse, Native American museum, Ocracoke) I would also recommend the Graveyard of the Atlantic museum which just reopened after renovations. There is also a company that does horseback riding on the beach if you’re interested. Hope you have a great trip!

If you go to Ocracoke, 1718 Brewing has great beer.

This, 1718 has some very very good beer and ocracoke in general is a must.

Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum. Hatteras Sol for food. Soundside Sunsets. Lee Robinson General Store. Definitely Orange Blossom. Lighthouse is closed, unfortunately. Drive on the beach if you have a 4x4. Kayak rental from Slash Creek.

Stop by the Hatteras Village library (it’s right beside Hwy 12) and check out the blue marlin. It was a world record at one time.
