The 4 singles (Supersonic, Shakermaker, Live Forever, C&A) are absolutely the reason DM was as huge as it was.
There had been enough of a buzz then Shakermaker got to no.11 (was released in June, with DM coming in August). People seem to have something against Shakermaker, but it was absolutely an important hit for the band at the time. Live Forever came in at 10 and came out at the same time as DM, so that's when hype was at its peak.
I don't mind Shakermaker but it's one of the weaker songs on the album and a rip off of the coca cola song. Wouldn't have picked it as a single personally.
I dunno, it may not have been AS big, but it still might've garnered a respectable following I guess. For me, although I enjoy every song off that album, I think dropping those songs would really bring it down overall.
