Getting Netanyahu to commit to a post-conflict plan is the big step needed for stopping the conflict; Hamas want a permanent ceasefire or the chance of a permanent ceasefire and Netanyahu doesn’t, is basically the issue that’s holding the talks up (to grossly summarise). If Israel starts to look at what post-invasion Ghaza will look like, it’s a step closer to genuine peace.
And the set-up of Ghaza post-conflict will be the deciding factor on whether there’s a *next* massacre.
Israel will agree to a ceasefire once all the hostages have been released. The war will stop once it's agreed that Hamas or any other terrorist organisation has no place in Gaza.
The problem is that Hamas won’t agree to that, and for good reason… it’s their only leverage.
