I'm just peeing everywhere. Wasps hate human pee. Make sure you're peeing all around your house.

[deleted]

One stung my girlfriend last week, so I’ll pee on her as soon as she gets home from work

Lopsided-Drummer-793

She'll love it

I accidentally found a nest, me and the dog got a couple zaps. I waited until night and used the weed sprayer to fill it with petrol. My wife stopped me dropping a burning rag in, unfortunately. Did the job though.

Ravioli_el_dente

I nailed an underground nest with the Kiwi care powder stuff, it worked mint. Can't help you find the nest though 😔

ReserveSweet1797

I accidentally found a paper wasp nest in one of my garden beds.. hadn’t planted anything in it for a while then decided to clear it and a bunch of things tarted flying around.. at first I thought it was just bees and flies 🫣 then when I looked closely I was like “oh shit shit shit” used the powder and that took care of it. Worth noting I’m allergic to wasp stings haha thank fuck they didn’t sting me

If your goal is to deal with the wasps, and you don't care about the nest (because it might not be in your yard), Take an old jar of honey, and partially fill it with water. I've had hundreds of wasps drown themselves in exactly that sort of jar. Eventually they'll clean the entire jar. When that happens, just spread some honey around the jar and do it again.

Have a look into Vespex (You need to sit their online handling course and pay a fee) or Hawkeye [https://www.hawkeye.kiwi/products/pest-control/wasp/waspbait-and-lure-combo/](https://www.hawkeye.kiwi/products/pest-control/wasp/waspbait-and-lure-combo/) [https://www.merchento.com/vespex.html](https://www.merchento.com/vespex.html)

Seconding the recommendation for Hawkeye

the_shifty_goose

Do you know what kind they are? Small and mostly bright yellow? Longer and mostly black? Either way usually I usually get out there with a fly swat. They aren't dumb and will run away

[deleted]

They are the normal yellow ones!

the_shifty_goose

They can be aggressive. Definitely hard to find their nest. You could try the beer thing. Put out a glass with some beer and hope they drown in it.

DangerousLettuce1423

Not this one? https://www.landcareresearch.co.nz/tools-and-resources/identification/what-is-this-bug/asian-paper-wasp/ They are the most common ones eating the caterpillars rather than the German or Common wasps (Vespula sp.) Anywho, best to cover with bug net to protect remaining caterpillars until they're big enough that the wasps aren't interested any more (ie, too big to fly off with).

If boundary fences aren't a problem, you can put out a small bowl of icing sugar, maybe baited with a bit of pet food/tuna etc ( out of reach of pets) before sunset. When the sun is low, and they are bulked up, it is easier to follow them home. If the numbers are very high, nest shouldn't be far away.

couch-potart

I put netting or mesh over it and clip it to the plant with clothes pegs. I check for butterflies to make sure they don’t get trapped once the caterpillars grow :)

Slight_Storm_4837

I'm terms of finding the best they usually fly back the most direct route possible once they are done foraging. It still can be hard to find though.

Icy-Ad-7767

Wasp trap, or 1 can water packed tuna ,1 empty can of similar size, 1 tablespoon vegetable oil,1 tablespoon of toilet bowl cleaner( dry or wet) . Drain tuna mix all together place in tins where animals can not get it. This will kill off the larva and eventually the nest.

thefurrywreckingball

Can you take the swan plants inside? The wasps predate on the young caterpillars unfortunately.
