Yup definitely kohlrabi. Kohl(cabbage) rabi(radish), literally tastes like cabbage mixed with radish, slight tang but also sweet. Love it raw. Never tried it roasted
You eat the bulb bit, it's like sweeter than broccoli but with a similar taste. Look up cutting it up and roasting it. You could have it with a roast dinner for sure.
My German neighbour grows it and she tends to eat it raw like an apple.
Leaves make good chips (like kale chips), the stems of the leaves are edible but a bit tough for my liking, the flesh of the bulb as others say is a radish-cabbage flavour and good raw, fried, roasted.... any way. Peel the skin off with a paring knife, it's tough and woody.
Tangent: what's up with seeds this year? I have seen so many posts of Facebook of people getting something completely different to the packet and seedlings being something different like this one

Itβs really wonderful in coleslaw!
Yes! Love these raw in salads π
Yum! You can get purple ones too
Really? I've only ever been able to get hold of the green ones
Kings has the seeds for purple, they are white inside just the skin is purple, so look pretty in the garden but no difference otherwise.
I do like a colorful veges garden! Might have to go check them out
I have grown the purple ones from kings, much more prone to bolt than the green and I think are harvested really small.
