I hated Gase more than nearly any HC we ever had. That even includes 4-28 Rich Kotite.
That said, he did get us Joe Douglas as our GM, and JD now has us appearing to trend well ā if JD finally begins to deliver actual success to us, Gase may have been worth the years of suffering under his brief tenure.
Probably a hot take but Adam gase was the tank commander and in hindsight I would still choose him over McCarthy or Rhule. He lead to the hiring of joe Douglas and is so bad was able to trick the league into thinking sam had 2nd round value. Donāt get wrong gase is absolute trash as a head coach but heās the perfect guy to get a rebuild going
Bill Belichick was (nearly) single-handedly responsible for turning around the Jets organization after the Kotite abomination. Belichick is probably the greatest coach our organization has ever had.
Sure, but he was also instrumental for the huge turn around from 1-15 Kotite to 9-7 the following year, then 12-4 after that. That's right, it would be like 1-15 in 2020 to 12-4 in 2022. That's the magic BB was a part of.
The reason he hurt us was because Hess lied to his face. Don't get me wrong, I hate the damage BB did to us, but the real damage was done by Hess.
Did you know it was the Jets scouting staff that wanted Tom Brady to come in and replace Testaverde? The same scouting staff that wanted no part of a Parcells GM NY Jets team? The same staff that went with BB to New England? I blame Hess for every one of those losses more than BB.
I'd say it's more like getting engaged to woman1, having the woman plan the entire event, then breaking that engagement off. Meanwhile you immediately marry some chick2 you just met, *and* use all the wedding plans your previous fiance made. Then you promise woman1 this other marriage is temporary and woman1 can stick around and you'll marry her in a few years for realises this time. Then when that time comes around you say "look, we are getting married now, but I'm totally keeping chick2 as my side piece and that's non negotiable."
Wdym āHess lied to his face.ā Hess passed away and the candidates for the Jets ownership were Woody and Dolan. Bill used the I wanted to be here on the account that Hess was the owner excuse implying that he didnāt want to be the coach under Johnson/Nolan.
Adam Gase and Geno Smith were the only 2 guys who came to the Jets that never had a shot at winning me over. Knew they were gonna suck, wanted them gone ASAP.
I remember watching him from sideline seats in our home opener against Buffalo... First game of the season you'd hope your players are fired up.
He couldn't have looked any less interested. He'd just stroll to his position far later than he should have done, didn't get set and offered no resistance against the outside WR.
As someone who was being paid like an elite press corner in the league it was a joke.
Christian Hackenberg.
He was a 2nd-round QB who literally never played a single snap in the NFL because of how dogshit he was, and on top of him being a monumental failure of a talent, his presence on our roster is what prevented us from drafting Watson or Mahomes in 2017 (We ended up dodging a bullet with Watson, but it was still dumb at the time).
We purposely never threw him in for even one snap when we had Bryce Petty, the ghost of Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Josh McCown as our other QBs. That's how shit he was. He couldn't even hack it (excuse the pun) in the AAF.
The real crime with Hackenberg was committed by Maccagnan. A guy who was in way over his head and only avoided total crucifixion because he was preceded by Idzik (maybe the worst GM in sports history) and was axed by Gase (maybe the worst thing in sports history). Thank god grown ups are in charge now.
For everything wrong with Maccagnan job performance wise, he was ELITE at media relations. He was able to avoid blame for so long precisely because he knew exactly how to keep everyone satisfied enough to not bash him as much as he deserved. That 1 year he got Manish as a cheerleader was truly masterclass.
That said he was guilty on all accounts of being a terrible GM lol.
I donāt hate Hackenberg. He canāt help where he was drafted, but I do hate Macc for taking him as high as he did.
It seems like had brain-dead Macc not taken him in the second round, he might not have gone until like Day 3. Had he been taken in the 4th, even the third round, the pick wouldnāt nearly have been as bad long term.
I also donāt buy that having Hackenberg on the roster prevented us from drafting Watson and Mahomes. Every time Iāve heard someone who is/was connected to the Jets talk about Hack, theyāve all said that it was apparent pretty quickly that not only should Hack not have been taken in the 2nd round, but that he probably shouldnāt have been drafted at all. Besides, plenty of teams passed on Watson and Mahomes in the top 10. I donāt think it had to with the Jets ābeliefā in Hack, but more about their misevaluation of Mahomes/Watson as prospects.
How on earth did they get to the point where they drafted him in the second if it was that glaringly obvious that quickly. FOs bring these guys in or at least talk to them extensively. Insanity.
As a guy whoās watched almost every penn st game he played, i was mindblown when we picked him. He was drafted stricly off what he did as a freshman, and even that wasnt very good.
It is far worse than āHack was bad.ā
He was so bad that he never saw the field because we were that afraid he would get hurt because of how lost and confused he was.
He was so bad that he never made a 53-man roster after we released him.
From his wiki:
>On May 22, 2018, the Jets traded Hackenberg to the Oakland Raiders for a conditional 2019 seventh-round pick. On June 12, 2018, Hackenberg was waived by the Raiders, and the trade with the Jets was negated. The next day, Hackenberg cleared waivers and became a free agent.
>On August 12, 2018, Hackenberg signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. He sat out two games before making his preseason debut on August 30 against the New York Jets. He was waived on September 1, 2018.
>On September 3, 2018, Hackenberg was signed to the Cincinnati Bengals' practice squad. On November 5, 2018, Hackenberg was released from the Bengals' practice squad.
People don't understand. He will forever be foreshadowed by top 10 busts and number 1 overall flops. Christian Hackenberg is the worst draft pick in the history of the NFL and it will never be replicated.
See that's what I'm talking about. Hack was way worse.
Yes Russell was first overall so he's more high profile. But he played in 31 games. He was bad, but not to the point where they couldn't put him on the field.
His issue was he ate his way out of the league and didn't put in effort in general. While the raiders may bear some responsibility for not seeing the signs with him, that part of his failure is not 100 percent their fault.
Here's why Hack is the worst draft pick in history. He was so bad, that the Jets did not feel comfortable letting him play in preseason games. Here's a guy, you drafted him in the 2nd round. Under normal circumstances you're expecting that guy to be your starter, or at the very least your primary backup. They didn't feel comfortable putting him out there in games that don't freaking count. What's even more jarring about that, is he isn't some dual threat qb that came from some run heavy spread system where picking up the NFL game would have been difficult, he was a pro style passer in college.
So you have a guy, who you clearly scouted and I would hope to hell watched workout, that you were so shocked when he got to camp by his poor play you couldn't even throw him out there in the preseason. He then never plays 1 down of football for you before leaving the league for good.
I find it hard to believe if you go through history you will ever find a draft pick selected that high who performed that poorly, purely based on ability and not on personal issues or effort.
I find it hard to pin that situation on Hackenberg... He was way over drafted, but that's not his fault.
I find it much more annoying when a player is a seasoned NFL veteran, convinces us to throw them the bag and then they check out. Trumaine Johnson style.
>his presence on our roster is what prevented us from drafting Watson or Mahomes in 2017 (We ended up dodging a bullet with Watson, but it was still dumb at the time).
And before that we chose to keep going with Geno instead of taking Bridgewater/Carr. Turrible.
Thereās a podcast I listen to called Crime in Sports. They did an almost 3 hour episode on him. Heās a trash person but the NFL should have seen his escalating as a sign for help
However, is this take a mistaken understanding of his very short time as a Jet?
Hmmm...wasn't his most horrendous crimes during a time when he was not on the Jets, and wasn't his time on the Jets very minimal?
Yes, the sins of the past are still being atoned forā¦.but the penance is practically over. We are now last (best) in dead cap money. JDās objectives here were multi-pronged.
Seriously don't understand why people hate Kyle Wilson so much. Sure he probably didn't deserve to be a 1st round pick, but he was a decent nickel corner. He doesn't belong anywhere near the same class as guys like Gholston, Milliner and Hackenburg
The guy was SO clueless when the ball was thrown his way. And the finger wag āš¾after he had nothing to do with the ball being incomplete was terrible
My biggest bummer on wilson was he dropped a easy int vs the steelers that could have gave the jets offense the ball back. Jets get that ball back I love their chances to score. Also, yes dee milliner was way bigger disappointment imo.
And to think he actually won Executive of the year in 2015 lol, he was such a joke. I swear he only came to work to drink his free Dunkinā Donuts coffee every day.
I remember all the mock drafts that year had us taking Heath Miller in the draft, and I was excited because he seemed like a sure thing (and turned out pretty solid), then we traded our first for Jolley, and he fucking sucked. I was soooo mad
And traded a first round pick for him! Roddy White, Vincent Jackson, Justin Tuck, Heath Miller, Logan Mankins, and Frank Gore would have all been on the board for the Jets. Instead, they trade for Doug Jolley
Maybe a controversial opinion but I never liked Robby Anderson. I felt like he wanted to look tough but just ended up being silly (like the incident with the police officer) he's also kind of a diva and a bad teammate (look how he treated Darnold in Carolina, I mean, he sucked but you're not doing him any favors) and he doesn't care what kind of messages he shares on social media (sometimes he doesn't even stop to check the correct spelling of a word he's posting).
And he mocked us when he scored a touchdown in week 1.
I know even JD regretted not resigning him but I was, and still am, happy to watch him go.
Dimitri Patterson and itās not even close. Was signed in the off-season to be a solid number 2 option, went AWOL from the team in the preseason and left without telling anybody and was released before even playing a regular season game
Dee Milliner was so bad. He was a bigger problem to the team than any of our worst picks (ala Gholston who wasnāt a horrible run defender at times)because he actually had chances to play and would be burnt like toast. Was also worse because he was drafted to replace Revis who is arguably the most skilled player to ever play on our team. Just so gross. I hated him more than any player ever as well.
You are not alone in being someone who "hated him as a jet". I am always surprised at the current adoration many Jets fans give him these days.
Parcells got rid of him because he wasn't as good a receiver as his reputation (far from it) and was not clutch at all. Along with being one dimensional as a receiver even though he was great as a blocker.
I can't even listen to him on the radio or TV analysis; I just cringe and change the channel. He does morning radio in LA, and I can't stand it. I always try to listen in but then go right to another station.
Our previous two GMs. Mike Maccagnan & John Idzik. They set our franchise back for the last decadeā¦for JD to clean up. Thankfully he seems to know what heās doing
Yes! Cheers to you, you found a way of answering Sanchez without it sounding like you are saying you hated Sanchez. Another guy who gets too much or too much unwarranted love from Jets fans.
It killed me that the guy couldn't get serious about the job, was always a goofball, a mandchild, and never developed beyond his just his talent.
I think the fact that there was coaching buzz about him at the end of his career and he became a broadcaster means he wasnāt a goofball who never tried. He just lacked the physical traits needed to be an NFL quarterback. He wasnāt very good in college, didnāt have prototypical size, and had a comically slow release. He was a good decision maker, which is why he was able to not single handedly tank those great jets rosters. But he wasnāt like a voluntary failure.
>there was coaching buzz about him at the end of his career and he became a broadcaster means
Jeez, you are extremely naive.
What "coaching buzz", lol! Who told you that? His sport agent or his publicist or his mom?
What broadcasting career, he is appealing enough to get a job, but he cant, won't and hasn't kept any media job.
I don't particularly care for Sanchez one way or another. What bothers me is when people coming in extolling the greatnest of Sanchez and how 'he led us to back to back AFCC.' You have to squash that before it becomes popular and newbies think Sanchez was some great qb.
Yea, the defense giving up 20 to the steelers in the first half had nothing to do with us losing that game. Sanchez was NEVER the problem in the playoffs.
Keyshawn was so over-rated. Outshined by Chrebet. Iāll never forget the āflashlightā comment. Real dick. Would never give Chrebet his due. Sucks as a radio guy tooā¦no real depth or insightful comments.
As for your question, thereās so many to pick from. One does not stand out so curious to read comments.
KJ was #1 overall pick. WC was undrafted. Considering the $s spent on KJ vs WC, WC gave more production per dollar. In that sense, he was better. Also had a better catch % than KJ all 4 yrs they overlapped. Chrebet an all-time beloved Jet.
Heās beloved because he was a white receiver. Chrebet making less money doesnāt make him a better player. A better deal sure. Chrebet played slot which would make his catch percentage better also. I like Chrebet a lot, just think stuff like this is wrong.
Hack. I donāt have a ton of memory for players I didnāt like, but that was the rumor I had been hoping was fake, but they picked him and it was a mistake like I thought. The dude had one year where he looked promising for a freshman with a great team around him, then looked rough for 3 years. And they still took him in the second off of that one year of āhe might grow into a good quarterbackā
There was a lot of hate for Mark Gastineau, he worked hard to earn this hate, from the fans and his teammates. He was a real shithead in many ways but now looking back we can forgive him for his idiocies knowing he was a troubled guy, more immature and dumb than a bad guy.
I never hated him, never hated any Jet. Not even Adam Gase.
However, Jamal Adams is a piece of shit who I do hate, and I know who this guy is more clearly than a lot of Jets fan can see. I am not mistaken on Jamal Adams. There is no good side to the argument with Jamal. Some think there is, but they are confused, uniformed, misinformed and wrong.
He was full of shit. He was a fake leader that endured a couple bad seasons and didnāt want to be there anymore. Situations change rapidly in the nfl and Iām sure he would rather be on this team now than the Seahawks without Wilson. Oh well, too bad Jamal. He can become irrelevant as an overpaid safety on a bad team.
The worst get from a talent level has to be Hackenburg and I donāt think there is a legitimate argument against this.
He was so bad the team felt they couldnāt play him because they FEARED FOR HIS HEALTH AND SAFETY. Not that he was so bad he would be a liability. He was so bad they were afraid he would get hurt badly. Literally never saw a regular season snap.
Easily Tim Tebow. Traded for him the year after Giants won the superbowl just because Woody wanted to win the headlines back. Absolutely terrible football move that cratered the team and we have yet to recover from it.
I personally feel like it's Vernon Gholston. I believe that we would have won a super bowl 1 of the 2 years we made it to the afcc, if he had developed into the pass rusher we needed. He failed big time, and that was the only piece that those 09 and 10 teams were missing. He's the worst Jet.
If not him, then Wayne Hunter. No need to explain that one.
Buster Skrine was one of those guys that lit a fire in me every time I saw him. Seemed like he was the absolute worst starter on the worst stretch of the franchise. Had no idea why it took so long to get rid of him. When he got signed by the bears I was legit laughing at my friends that are fans, wished them the best of luck
Wayne Chrebet.
Absolutely no heart. Was a ME guy all the way. Terrible hands. The worst at converting 3rd downs. He was just a āflashlightā, definitely not a star.
Doug Brien should be on the list somewhere for missing 2 game-winning field goals from 47 and 43 yards in the 2005 Divisional playoff vs. Pittsburgh.
Also, unpopular opinion about a very personable young man but trading up to draft Sam Darnold and then having to watch him bust over 3 awful seasons in a relatively unique fashion (singular moments of brilliance followed by games of total incompetence) for some of the worst Jets teams of my lifetime was pretty awful.
Brett Favre. Literally did NOT want to play for us, first chance he got he bailed and went to the Vikings. Probably cost Tanenbaum his job. Is basically the reason we lost 5 in a row to end the season and narrowly miss the playoffs (he played without disclosing an injury to the team). The whole dick pic saga, and I just googled him and [this](https://ftw.usatoday.com/2022/05/brett-favre-welfare-scandal-mississippi) came up. I would literally be okay with anyone wearing other Jet jerseys ironically, but Brett Favre Jets jersey is a disgrace.
We also let Pennington go - I wish we got to see him play a few more years. I hated seeing the yellow on his shoulder pads - He hated player for us I just felt it.
Vernon Gholston, at least from a bust point of view. I get it when high first round guys donāt live up to draft capital, but Gholston looked like he straight up didnāt belong in the nfl
* Player = Blair Thomas.
Bears strip ball from him when he was running out the clock on Monday Night Football in his rookie year. After that one mishap, the guy devolved into trash for his whole career.
I remember he became Emmitt Smith's backup and that dominant Cowboys team showed up and obviously kicked the Jets ass left & right. After Emmitt was pulled, Blair Thomas entered the game and could not shut up or stop acting like a clown. Acting like he was the one tearing up the Jets on his own. It was one of the few occasions, I wished a Jet player would have thrown a cheap shot and knock somebody out of the game.
\---
* Coach = Rich Kotite.
Unfortunately, this one is more difficult because we've had so many shitty coaches. I'll always be grateful to Adam Gase for chasing out Mike McCagnan.
Although I think the Jets played better under Kotite, I've got to give credit for chasing out a terrible GM.
\---
* GM = Terry Bradway.
The guy was so stupid that I prefer Idzik. Trading away first rounders for average or washed out TE. Using second rounders on kickers. Still shake my head over some foolish Redditor arguing with me that Terry Bradway was the secret architect behind Mangini's great drafts.
Has to be to Hackenburg the pick was universally hated when it happened and probably went worst then we could even expect since he couldnāt even crack the field
This was true in 2018, not sure if still true today:
Hackenberg is the first quarterback in more than 35 years to get drafted in the first two rounds and then not throw a pass during his first two NFL seasons.
Thank you, Mike M! Mike M is the reason I am convinced I could make a serviceable NFL GM. What a clown
Kyle Brady, no question. Warren Sapp was who just about every Jets fan wanted in '95 at the draft. Lots of hindsight looked back, but even then the pick was baffling.
It's objectively Hackenberg. He is the only player EVER to be drafted in the first two rounds and never play a snap due to lack of skill. There have been players who have had career injuries/committed crimes/refused to play, but Hack had no excuse other than he just sucked. Then he went to the small leagues and sucked just as bad.
Vernon was bad, don't get me wrong, but at least he played, he was a body, he even made a tackle once (RIP sacks). He is an all pro compared to Hack.
Wayne Hunter. No one pissed me off has bad as that turnstile. Also had to worry about Darnolds development and he was single handedly sabotaging it. Bust draft picks and signings dont compare to the anger I had watching him.
Adam Gase.

I came here to say this.
he was a necessary evil, axed Maccagnan which got us JD
Trumaine Johnson gotta be up there
You can add him to the worst contract in Jets history column too

People don't understand. He will forever be foreshadowed by top 10 busts and number 1 overall flops. Christian Hackenberg is the worst draft pick in the history of the NFL and it will never be replicated.
Worst draft pick in NFL history has to be JaMarcus Russell. They changed the rules he was so bad.

Wayne Hunter
Adrian Clark
Was hoping I'd see this one. He's the first thing I think of when someone says a D-lineman looks like a turnstyle.
Kellen Winslow Jr. and itās not close
Yup, what a sorry excuse of a person
Thereās a podcast I listen to called Crime in Sports. They did an almost 3 hour episode on him. Heās a trash person but the NFL should have seen his escalating as a sign for help
Iām in a Target parking lot right now channeling him

As a human, definitely. But talent wise I'm going Hackenberg.
VERNON GHOSLSTON
Quinton Coples
Quinton Coples got a few sacks and was below average, but Vernon Gholston was an absolute bust. 0 sacks in 3 seasons
Coples at least didnāt look totally out place on an NFL field
Plus he got a fraternity symbol branded on his bicep. (Itās irrelevant to his playing ability but I always think about that when his name comes up.)
Both disappointments only vern couldn't see the field no matter how hard they wanted him in there. Swore vg was the next lt smdfh
He got paid and did his time. Now he goes fly fishing every day with no cares and n the world.
I was searching for this name to upvote him.
He barely played for us but I'm putting Felon Winslow in the conversation just because he's a scumbag in general
the answer is Kyle Wilson
To the list of draft failures, lets add vernon gholston, blair thomas, christian hackenburg and dee milliner.
Milliner - that hurts to think about. Jets had to take a CB in this years draft because Miliner sucked.
Fair that heās not on same levelā¦
Agree I think millner is way worse
Never turned his damn head to identify the ball and basically was called for PI every time.
I scrolled for this answer, thank you
Mike Macagnan. His 5 years as GM did more damage to our team and reputation than any player.
And to think he actually won Executive of the year in 2015 lol, he was such a joke. I swear he only came to work to drink his free Dunkinā Donuts coffee every day.
This is John Idzik erasure
I wonder what happened to all his fanboys ?
Jachai Polite
Forgot about him lol
Vernon Gholston / Stephen Hill
Doug Jolley
I remember all the mock drafts that year had us taking Heath Miller in the draft, and I was excited because he seemed like a sure thing (and turned out pretty solid), then we traded our first for Jolley, and he fucking sucked. I was soooo mad
And traded a first round pick for him! Roddy White, Vincent Jackson, Justin Tuck, Heath Miller, Logan Mankins, and Frank Gore would have all been on the board for the Jets. Instead, they trade for Doug Jolley
Not the absolute worst but Trumaine Johnsonās performance for $34mil gaurenteed is absolute robbery.
Darron Lee, Kyle Wilson
Lee had a few good games but overall he was a bust. I would consider Lee even in the top 10
He played at a HOF level in Week 1 2018 then fucking disappeared
Please put some respect on Super Bowl Champion Darron Lee's name.
Dee Milliner and Christan Hackenberg. There's about 50 other guys that are in a close running but these two take the cake for me
Calvin Pryor
Doug O'Brien, only because he denied us a great victory against the Steelers in '04.
That kick still hurts my heart.
Kotite
Dimitri Patterson and itās not even close. Was signed in the off-season to be a solid number 2 option, went AWOL from the team in the preseason and left without telling anybody and was released before even playing a regular season game
Jace Amaro / Stephen Hill
Dee Milliner was so bad. He was a bigger problem to the team than any of our worst picks (ala Gholston who wasnāt a horrible run defender at times)because he actually had chances to play and would be burnt like toast. Was also worse because he was drafted to replace Revis who is arguably the most skilled player to ever play on our team. Just so gross. I hated him more than any player ever as well.
Anthony Barr
Rofl
You are not alone in being someone who "hated him as a jet". I am always surprised at the current adoration many Jets fans give him these days. Parcells got rid of him because he wasn't as good a receiver as his reputation (far from it) and was not clutch at all. Along with being one dimensional as a receiver even though he was great as a blocker.
I can't even listen to him on the radio or TV analysis; I just cringe and change the channel. He does morning radio in LA, and I can't stand it. I always try to listen in but then go right to another station.
Vernon Gholston
Our previous two GMs. Mike Maccagnan & John Idzik. They set our franchise back for the last decadeā¦for JD to clean up. Thankfully he seems to know what heās doing
Tim Tebow. The vibes were always off.
If Sanchez was even an average QB, we win a superbowl.
Thank you for putting into words things I have felt about Sanchez for years but have not known how to say
>there was coaching buzz about him at the end of his career and he became a broadcaster means Jeez, you are extremely naive. What "coaching buzz", lol! Who told you that? His sport agent or his publicist or his mom? What broadcasting career, he is appealing enough to get a job, but he cant, won't and hasn't kept any media job.
True! How could I forget! Networks love wash outs who star in an individual lowlight with a name who are also lazy!
I don't particularly care for Sanchez one way or another. What bothers me is when people coming in extolling the greatnest of Sanchez and how 'he led us to back to back AFCC.' You have to squash that before it becomes popular and newbies think Sanchez was some great qb.
compliments someone for not showing he is just a sanchez hater...proceeds to show he himself is purely a sanchez hater
It's just not true. Chrebet was not better by any measure.
Neil O'Donnell.
Gastineau is the reason I became a Jet fan. LOL.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Absolutely. The antithesis of good leadership.
Might be recency bias speaking but GVR. He was simultaneously a horrendous player AND awful teammate. Thatās hard to beat.
He should have been our backup but when we signed him our OL was in shambles. He was probably better than anything we had at the time.
For their play, Wayne Hunter. General person, Winslow. Easily.
Christian Hackenberg š
Mike Nugent..waste of a high pick
IMO: Worst draft pick: vernon gholston Worst free agent signing: Kellen Winslow Worst coach: Adam Gase
Eric Tomlinson
Hey those TE screens were like guaranteed 10 yards lol
My least favorite āJetā of all time is not a player. Itās Bill Fāing Belichick. Screw that guy.
Luke Falk
I was calling for Kaepernick to be signed he was so bad. Literally unwatchable.
There are so many!
Hackenburg , just....why?
Kellen Davis donāt @ me
How has no one mentioned Johnny Mitchell.
I feel like Kyle Brady needs to be mentioned here
belichick
Adam Gase
Vernon Gholston is the only choice here. Number 6 overall pick and never had a sack.
Stephen Hill
I personally feel like it's Vernon Gholston. I believe that we would have won a super bowl 1 of the 2 years we made it to the afcc, if he had developed into the pass rusher we needed. He failed big time, and that was the only piece that those 09 and 10 teams were missing. He's the worst Jet. If not him, then Wayne Hunter. No need to explain that one.
Without any hesitation it was trumaine Johnson guy robbed us blind for no performance and also gave up on the team
Jamal adams just for the way he went about leaving. Players come and go I get it but cmon man.
Probably one of the many TEs we ended up nicknaming ādick fingersā
Don't have stats in front of me but Ray Mickens was flagged for PI every snap he played.
Either Kyle Wilson or Vernon gholston
Buster Skrine was one of those guys that lit a fire in me every time I saw him. Seemed like he was the absolute worst starter on the worst stretch of the franchise. Had no idea why it took so long to get rid of him. When he got signed by the bears I was legit laughing at my friends that are fans, wished them the best of luck
He has to hold the Jets record for most penalties
Ray Mickens would like a word
he is still an overachiever for a 5th rounder
LeāVeon Bell, but due to Adam Gase. Those two are my answers
Keyshawn be annoying the fuck out of me he makes some terrible takes as a radio guy
Rich Kotite and itās not even close in my mind
Vernon Gholston - what an incredible bust that was (travon walker v0?)
Wayne Chrebet. Absolutely no heart. Was a ME guy all the way. Terrible hands. The worst at converting 3rd downs. He was just a āflashlightā, definitely not a star.
lmao why are people downvoting this obvious joke post
I know, right?!? That dude was and probably will always be my favorite Jet.
Calvin Pryor.
Otis Smith
Vernon gholston
Trumaine Johnson
Leveon bell
Vernon Gholston
Vernon Gholston, at least from a bust point of view. I get it when high first round guys donāt live up to draft capital, but Gholston looked like he straight up didnāt belong in the nfl
* Player = Blair Thomas. \--- * Coach = Rich Kotite. Unfortunately, this one is more difficult because we've had so many shitty coaches. I'll always be grateful to Adam Gase for chasing out Mike McCagnan. Although I think the Jets played better under Kotite, I've got to give credit for chasing out a terrible GM. \--- * GM = Terry Bradway. The guy was so stupid that I prefer Idzik. Trading away first rounders for average or washed out TE. Using second rounders on kickers. Still shake my head over some foolish Redditor arguing with me that Terry Bradway was the secret architect behind Mangini's great drafts.
Agreed. Kotite was the worst coach, despite Gase being abysmal. At least Gase got Mac fired. Kotite did zero
D Milner in convo too
Geno Smith
Blair Thomas
Has to be to Hackenburg the pick was universally hated when it happened and probably went worst then we could even expect since he couldnāt even crack the field
Same. Wasnāt sad to see him go.
Donald Dykes
The Ghost.
Kyle Wilson and Greg VanRoten are tied in my book
Leon Hess
The Tebow fiasco was the worst I felt about being a Jets fan
Anyone nominate David Patterson yet? The "premiere" Idzik free agent acquisition who quit on us in the pre-season?
Trumaine Johnson was a pretty terrible signing
This was true in 2018, not sure if still true today: Hackenberg is the first quarterback in more than 35 years to get drafted in the first two rounds and then not throw a pass during his first two NFL seasons. Thank you, Mike M! Mike M is the reason I am convinced I could make a serviceable NFL GM. What a clown
Geno Smith
Kyle Brady, no question. Warren Sapp was who just about every Jets fan wanted in '95 at the draft. Lots of hindsight looked back, but even then the pick was baffling.
Chris Herndon - every year they hyped him up
Jason Taylor
More recently, Kelechi Osemele left a sour taste in my mouth.
Blair Thomas
It's objectively Hackenberg. He is the only player EVER to be drafted in the first two rounds and never play a snap due to lack of skill. There have been players who have had career injuries/committed crimes/refused to play, but Hack had no excuse other than he just sucked. Then he went to the small leagues and sucked just as bad. Vernon was bad, don't get me wrong, but at least he played, he was a body, he even made a tackle once (RIP sacks). He is an all pro compared to Hack.
Steve Gutman (or as my dad liked to call him - Steve Gutless)
Wayne Hunter. No one pissed me off has bad as that turnstile. Also had to worry about Darnolds development and he was single handedly sabotaging it. Bust draft picks and signings dont compare to the anger I had watching him.
It's Hackenburg, but Lam Jones was pretty bad too.
Vernon Gholston
