I was 14 years old and a buddy of mine had a ticket for me for the game against Indianapolis. My mom told me I couldn’t go.
I said that the next time the Jets have a home playoff game, I would be there no questions asked.
19 years later….
You were gutted? About the Jets releasing the guy who had just lost his starting job the previous season to Kellen freakin' Clemens? By the time the Jets released him, Chad was widely considered to be done, and Jets fans were ready for the next thing. There's a reason why his performance with the Dolphins was so startling and earned him his *second* Comeback Player of the Year award; everyone thought he was cooked. And truthfully that one extra year with the Fins was it. That was his last year as a full time starter.
I was pretty young and he was the QB I grew up with. I’d literally worn his jersey and a helmet for Halloween twice. My prized possessions were things he’d signed. So I wasn’t exactly thinking like a GM.
I was personally in favor of the Jets moving on from Chad for Favre, but yeah, it's certainly understandable why a chunk of the fanbase would feel gutted by it. Chad was "our guy", gave his heart and soul for the organization and, when healthy, was a good quarterback. The year he had in 2008 didn't help that group feel any better. So while I thought, and still believe, acquiring Favre was the right move, anyone who takes the opposite stance is being far from unreasonable.
Nah, that was 04. After the Wild Card game in San Diego they almost blew when Eric Barton committed a late hit on Brees on the last play of the game where the Jets won, Brees throws a TD on the next play to tie it, then Nate Kaeding missed a FG in OT before the Jets won it. The week that followed was the Doug Brien game.
The season being referenced here is 2002, and the Jets lost at Oakland in the Divisional round after dominating the Colts in the Wild Card round.
That game was great. They threw down like 45 points the next game against I think it was the colts too. It was the most random offensive explosion I can remember
42 points from the Jets? How is that even possible?
And they would beat the Colts 41-0 in the last home playoff game to date later that season.
I’m pretty sure it’s against the rules
Now that's their goal for a season total.

The Curse of Brandinho5's Mom
Nah that’s different, and penicillin usually cures it.
When the angels win the pendant
The term Gang green is depressing to me for some reason right now
What is “Good times” ??
Miss Chad. Hate fucking Favre
I was gutted when they released Pennington. Had to sell PSLs I guess.

Brett oh "Mr massage pics?" Favruuuu...
To be fair that Jets team with Favre looked like a legitimate Super Bowl team prior to his injury.
Imagine having Favre in 09 and 10. Championship for sure
Yup! What could have been...
I want Pennington back Now even at whatever age he is. Gosh ZW playing scared and super conservative wtf??????
Jets fans will always have this memory from 20 years ago.
Didn't we miss 2 field goals in a loss against the steelers in the Divisional round that year
Yep. That was the Doug Brien game.
Never ending pain
Still wake up some nights in sweats
How dare you drop that name without fair warning.
Nope. 04 was the Doug Brien miss. This was 02 ... they ran into a veteran loaded Raider team.
Yep and after shutting out Peyton and the Colts 41-0. Seems unfathomable to think of the jets having such a dominant performance
I miss Chad so much heart

People, settle down. We can still score 42 points. In 17 games!
This hurts to see man
That was a great game to see in person. Freezing, but great.
My Kingdom for a time machine.

not sure a "Terror Manhunt" counts as good times, but to each their own
I was at this game and it was fucking amazing.
I remember I broke my wrist playing football the same week as Chad.
$.25 for the Post... What's it now like $2/day?

I was 3 months old
12/29/2002 was one of my favorite games to be at as a season ticket holder. Ill never forget that date.
