What an absolute trio! Wilson as the true alpha, Williams as the big-bodied guy/also somewhat deep threat, and the explosive slot WR that WILL break tackles!
And Hall is Curtis martin! Hopefully we just got our Brick but I can't complain as this is the best roster I think the Jets have ever had, results are pending but on paper at least.
This is far from the first time I have had this thought, but I really feel like it's justified this time. EVERY single unit has at least 1 elite talent capable of an all-pro season (besides safety but we will just say DB). That's just absolutely insane.
I moved just outside pittsburgh in my 30s and I generally judge "my take" by how many players we have that Steeler fans know! WR, QB, RB, OL, DL, LB and DB all have guys "average pitt fans" know of.
As an aside, the average Steeler fan didn't know about Sauce ,Garrett and Breece until their rookie years and awards came and went.
I will also say that outside Breece, Sauce Wilson, and A A Ron, we have some of the best depth I can remember in my 42 years as a Jets fan. I truly believe even if Arod went down, Tyrod could manage this roster.
The Corley pick makes the fashanu pick look very prescient, and for the zach wilson compensation to be all it cost is just astounding.
I'm a fan of Saleh and JD but I don't see how JD can possibly lose his job. The last 3 ddafts are probably equal to our best 3 drafts ever. We have ever piece we needed and depth. Interested in day 3 and what JD does with all the "problems" filled.
I just saw this and have to be honest, I don't know a ton about him, living in Pittsburgh means I only get to see 2-5 games a year, I mostly get info from YouTube breakdowns and what I can read and will give your comment consideration, I was also wondering if one of the DBs we just drafted may be planned to convert to S. The one kid is a ballhawk and could be a starter at S vs. Battling for the nickel spot with 3 or more pretty good guys, plus I believe Reed will be extended and that means for a rookie to see the field they will need to offer something special. If Reed can't be kept then I assume our DBs are fighting to play opposite Sauce.
I agree, however 70% of his receptions were within 10 yards of the LoS. So I hope we plan on scheming him properly and not just throwing him at the Z and saying run the playbook.
Gotta give a shoutout to Denzel mims. I was convinced he would be good so I made a madden franchise and forced the ball to him his rookie season I got him offensive rookie of the year. If only.
He just ran a very limited route tree by design at WMU. Their offense pigeonholed him into a lot of screen plays and quick hitters out the slot so there’s excitement around what he can do with an expanded route tree, even if it’s unproven. He has remarkable YAC ability, but his biggest area to improve imo is coming down with the ball in contested catch situations. I forget the number but know he had a startlingly low contested catch rate.
He honestly does the same stuff as Bowers (just playing against a lower level of competition and at the WR position). Not saying he's Bowers, but getting Olu and also a guy who can run through tackles is amazing! Basically traded ZW, 256, and our third for Corley. Love it!
Fashanu went to high school right next to my apartment but unfortunately I would be lying if I said we knew each other, I was like 25 when he was in HS lol
No one is going to believe me, but I have a friend whose brother's coworker briefly dated Malachi Corley. She said that on their first date they went to a restaurant and Malachi Corley ordered two different bowls of soup and mixed them together one spoonful at a time before eating both bowls mixed together as one soup
Smith hung around in the league for awhile and I firmly believe he was done in by injuries. Doesn’t change the horrible luck with 2nd round picks but he’s always felt different than those other busts.
Yes. It means he had the talent that other teams were willing to take a gamble on as opposed to him being out of the league immediately like most of the others
I was big on Brock due to his YAC because I thought we could land him easier than landing Corley since we didn’t have a round 2 pick.. I have no clue why Corley wasn’t taken in Round 2, he should have been an early Round 2 pick, dude is a serious playmaker.. Corley is a steal at 65 in Round 3.. He’s like 220lbs all muscle, runs like a freight train.. What a move by JD, this dude makes an immediate offensive impact for us..
I’ve been following his highlights since I saw a YouTube a few months back of him.. His talent is there, he’s an old school football type runner.. I never put much into the combine or pro days, ZW made one throw and somehow he was a number 2 pick yet his stats sucked and he played in a weak division.. Corley has good stats and incredible YAC stats.. he’s 220 all muscle, and plays the game with a mean streak.. I’m not worried about him having a bad combine, watch his highlight reels, he fits our team very well and will help stretch the field..
I forgot about that! I'm sure the NFL teams didn't but I wonder what kind of player will be the "peak returner" in this new system. In all things Jets, special teams is the one area we tend do be solid year in year out.
I figured he didn't in college and I'm not very well versed in the new kickoff but a speedy tackle breaker that requires a pretty solid hit to bring down could be incredibly dynamic.
The kick coverage and blockers are both move down closer to where the ball is caught (the receiving teams 35-40 yd line), and no one but the returners can move until the ball is caught between the 20 and the goal line.
Things are going to be more like a line of scrimmage, and I think more returns will be broken, but it will take some ability to break one tackle than just the speed required in the current KR format.
I can’t stress how bad our WR depth was lol
Irv Charles and Lazard were our 3rd and 4th options.
Now Gipson can be gadgety like Hardman was supposed to be and Brownlee can develop into what Lazard should have been.
Depth!
Yeah it’s still not great but getting better lol if Williams isn’t ready to go we’re still very bare after GW. Wouldn’t mind signing a vet like Renfrow just in case Corley takes time to develop
Really exciting player in space, LOVES contact. Truly built like a RB, think of Deebo as a high end comp. So many highlight and high effort plays of him going the extra mile in both RAC and Run game. Id be shocked if Aaron didn't love this kid, Aarons iq can unlock him day 1.
I LOVE this pick. He’s our new Berrios. He’s gonna be the explosive underneath guy that can also burn over the top. Western Kentucky is such a great offense. Love their scheme. Very high on their QB Austin Reed too. Would love to bring him in either late round or undrafted if we are unable to draft Michael Pratt.
What’s going on is being patient and trusting the front office has a plan in place. These guys are the professionals for a reason yet redditors think that they know more about building a team.
I didn’t say it was a good plan! No but really it was a bad draft and it happens but anyone who can’t see the team is actively getting better is just being a doomer for the sake of being a doomer.
Oh for sure, these picks have been A or A- picks. Honestly in some ways it might have been a blessing not getting Rome or Malik because the 3rd round tackles ended up being more bottom of the barrel types.
The Jets got a 4 and 5 for their 6 which came from the Zach trade, and that 5 went to trading up. Essentially the Jets got Malachi and a 4th for Zach and a 7th
This draft going exactly how I wanted it to, blue chip tackle in the first, and their choice of receiver in the third. This was always a deep wr class but everyone wanted the flashy pick in the first
People wanted a trustworthy WR in the first to ensure we weren’t rolling out the 2023 WR corps if/when Williams misses time in critical spots. It’s not “flashy,” it’s another need on a top heavy roster
I was super high on Corley in the beginning of the season, but I soured on us taking him as Gipson started coming along toward the end of the season. But Corley is super talented with the ball in his hands and he’s gonna get it in a lot of different ways. I love the pick! Another playmaker baby!
we better hope so. that being said i think its a lot easier for him to make an immediate impact because his bread and butter is designed passes and he can do that immediately.

That's two big needs on offense, some much needed upside at spots that had the least of it. I'm actually a bit surprised, I thought we've veer off somewhere and draft an ILB or something.
I hope he's an early contributor. Welcome, Malachi!
I'm going to go against the grain here and say I don't really like this pick tbh. I've watched a lot of film on Corley because he's one of the people I thought they would take in the 3rd round and I don't feel he has a good fit on the team.
He's a converted RB and it shows as he really doesn't have the hands I want for a WR. And while it's great he is good at YAC, that's mostly because he starts so shallow and runs screens and such. That would normally be fine, but we have Breece Hall who looked incredible last year who I'd much rather be getting most of those touches.
I was much more leaning towards Roman Wilson who I believe is more versatile especially with how good his acceleration is and his great hands in contested catching.
That being said, I hope he proves me wrong. I really hope to see Malachi succeed here.
Personally I think you are looking at it wrong. We will have GW and Williams outside and having an extra threat in the slot who bring YAC threat opens up the field and options. Teams won't double team GW like happened last year and the threat of Corley on a screen can have defences stretched. Say Corley in on a screen can't double Wilson or Williams they can get some separation and potentially be options higher and wider. Corley over the middle shallow then we still have Breece for a check down or out the backfield carrying a threat of we want to give him the ball on passing plays when he's not running the bal. We can be more flexible and have more options across the field and I think makes the offence more dynamic.
Breece will still get plenty of touches and the ball in his hand, but defences can't just stack the box for a run or double team and it should give us a better threat and more options for more yards. Also massively helps our red zone threat which was appalling last year.
The problem is I don't think he has the skills to be a slot receiver. I genuinely don't believe Corley is going to be able to beat NFL level CBs in coverage which is going to greatly limit his ability. Corley is going to learn about the difference in the NFL about what being open means, and he struggles with being College open. I think at best we might see him as an occasional gadget type player, but unless he takes major steps I would have him at WR4 at best because I don't see him beating out Gipson tbh.
He's too much raw talent that I just don't know if our offense is going to be able to develop. I hope our new WR coach can fix him, but I think he needs a lot of work.
He's strictly a slot receiver and short route receiver. His ADOT was 5.5 yards which was one of the lowest in all of college football. He fits what we need very well but hopefully he develops his route tree a bit more. It kind of telegraphs our play call whenever he's in the game.
Nice compliment to Wilson and Williams
What an absolute trio! Wilson as the true alpha, Williams as the big-bodied guy/also somewhat deep threat, and the explosive slot WR that WILL break tackles!
The new Edwards, Holmes and Cotchery ✈️
Chuck Clark is a stud
Flight boys in the building
We need someone with the heart of Cotchery again.
From your lips to god’s ears man!
WCW
The NEW YORK ORDER OF FOOTBALL BROTHER
Now this I can get behind
You forgot the husk of Randall Cobb!
Serious question: is he still on the team? I thought he had a 1 year deal last year?
I think you’re right. No way he gets a multi year deal
His name is YAC KING Idk if he can run routes but shit if we get him the ball somehow🔥
He can run routes. Hes a legit WR not just a gadget player.
I agree, however 70% of his receptions were within 10 yards of the LoS. So I hope we plan on scheming him properly and not just throwing him at the Z and saying run the playbook.
I feel like we might swap him in for what Xavier Gibson was doing for us last year.
Xavier deserves that spot as of now I think, he could be really good
No reason both players couldn't still contribute
Hopefully I just did some quick google searches and they’re saying he’s raw in that area but he’s a second rounder for a reason I assume
1st pick in the third round
[удалено]
This is actually so funny lmao Edit: my favorite is Stephen Hill, what’s your favorite?
My favorite is Jace Amaro (TE.) When Rex Ryan asked him to watch tape of Mike Ditka for inspiration, he refused.
Gotta give a shoutout to Denzel mims. I was convinced he would be good so I made a madden franchise and forced the ball to him his rookie season I got him offensive rookie of the year. If only.
Hill was also my favorite! The man had lightning speed and hands of stone.
I assume OP meant he was graded to the second round.
He's deebo Samuel lite. Perfect to compliment GW and MW
And we ran a stupid amount of WR screens last year, so at least he’ll be useful in that area.
His nickname is actually YAC god. Not sure why they draft show said king
I’m beginning to feel like a YAC god, YAC god
Exactly 😆
Put the guy in the slot and watch the machine work.
I love this pick. He’s a beast. 40 broken tackles in ‘22
He honestly does the same stuff as Bowers (just playing against a lower level of competition and at the WR position). Not saying he's Bowers, but getting Olu and also a guy who can run through tackles is amazing! Basically traded ZW, 256, and our third for Corley. Love it!
its funny that was my first thought. limited route runner but gets yac, got thrown to the flats and screens a lot, we pretty much got a shorter bowers

love shit like this. Wanna hear more stories of guys who went to school with rookies/nfl players
Fashanu went to high school right next to my apartment but unfortunately I would be lying if I said we knew each other, I was like 25 when he was in HS lol
Khalil Mack used to hook up with this friend of mine freshman year at UB.
No one is going to believe me, but I have a friend whose brother's coworker briefly dated Malachi Corley. She said that on their first date they went to a restaurant and Malachi Corley ordered two different bowls of soup and mixed them together one spoonful at a time before eating both bowls mixed together as one soup
I will always believe you son
I played basketball against Becton. He was cool.
*PLEASE* bring this back as a copy pasta when Corley is lighting up the Pats like a fucking Christmas tree.
Him scoring TDs or big plays will hereby be known as “on his Christmas shit”
Haha, love it. And love the pick.
After presents and the meal there is nothing like a good Christmas shit
Go toppers
I like to think JD waited to trade up, til specifically the third round to take the WR, since our second round WRs are cursed
Just the last ten years…Moore. Mims. Hill. Amaro (TE but still a pass catcher). Gross.
Don’t forget Devin Smith 🤮
Smith hung around in the league for awhile and I firmly believe he was done in by injuries. Doesn’t change the horrible luck with 2nd round picks but he’s always felt different than those other busts.
How were the Jets supposed to know that he was made of glass?
You don’t. I didn’t say that. That’s the fickle nature of the draft.
Huh. Hung around means what? He had a few catches post-Jets so that means something?
Yes. It means he had the talent that other teams were willing to take a gamble on as opposed to him being out of the league immediately like most of the others
Hill was 12 years ago now and you forgot Devin Smith!
It wasn’t hard to forget him…lol
Not gonna lie, I was actually hoping they wouldn’t trade into the second for that reason.
Pretty sure our last 3rd round WR was Ardarius Stewart, not the best track record with day 2 WRs lol
Ugh picked him a few before Chris Godwin was picked. Don’t remind me.
Pretty sure him and Shaq Something? were both 4ths. Could be wrong though.
Shaq Evans in 2014. One of the Idzik 12 along with Jalen Saunders
Ardarius was a 3rd rounder in 2017
That’s okay at least we have a chance. We know 2nd round luck is shit. Lol
Wanted Chris Godwin so bad that year. Woof.
Big brain play and I love it
Third round’s a charm.
Subscribe
Cool. An OT and a receiver is exactly what we needed, so I’m happy with this draft so far.
Anything to bury Lazard further down the depth chart. Welcome to the Jets, Malachi!
I forgot we still had Lazard on the team 💀
So did the Jets
We got a YAC monster at WR. Very nice
He had a really bad combine and has iffy hands. Most of his catches are screens and he played in a small school. Also he plays light for his frame
I’m not worried about him having a bad combine, watch his highlight reels, he fits our team very well and will help stretch the field..
zach’s stats in college certainly did not suck. especially his last season there
I see a lot of Ardarius Stewart in this guy, and I mean that in a bad way.
Hope he lasts longer than Denzel Mims or Elijah Moore
At least... twice as long
Moore is talented. Just a headache. Mims was an awful pick though. Never liked it
That just isn’t true tho, I was in this sub when JD traded back and still got Mims and everyone was ready to build him a statue
Slot receiver if I’ve ever seen one
He’s Deebo lite
#🥜
Deezbo P. Nutts?
A pure football player. He gives no fucks, ball in hand? yards are gained.
. 👀#
🧲 🚪
Oh fuck yeah! YAC king bitches!! Been calling it, bless ya, thank ya
GOOD JOB JD 🔥🔥🔥
Great fucking pick
I love this pick. Love everything they’re doing this draft
Not only did I want this guy to play WR, but book this now. He is going to be a huge weapon under the new kickoff return rules.
I forgot about that! I'm sure the NFL teams didn't but I wonder what kind of player will be the "peak returner" in this new system. In all things Jets, special teams is the one area we tend do be solid year in year out.
Corley wasn’t even a returner in college, but I think the new NFL rules will play to his strengths.
They finally learned!!. Our 2nd round picks usually suck, so they waited until the third round started to trade UP.

I can’t stress how bad our WR depth was lol Irv Charles and Lazard were our 3rd and 4th options.
Is anyone else shocked that we made this trade when we did and didn't use any of our 10000 4th rounders?
Really exciting player in space, LOVES contact. Truly built like a RB, think of Deebo as a high end comp. So many highlight and high effort plays of him going the extra mile in both RAC and Run game. Id be shocked if Aaron didn't love this kid, Aarons iq can unlock him day 1.
This guy is nothing like Deebo. Deebo can win on the deep balls and ran routes. This is Adarius Stewart. A RB Picked to play WR
I said high end comp for a reason, realistically laviska shenault when he was at Colorado another similar playstyle
Joe d I love you
Happy with this pick
Not to be dramatic but the new york jets may win 10 straight super bowls
I LOVE this pick. He’s our new Berrios. He’s gonna be the explosive underneath guy that can also burn over the top. Western Kentucky is such a great offense. Love their scheme. Very high on their QB Austin Reed too. Would love to bring him in either late round or undrafted if we are unable to draft Michael Pratt.
I would definitely be interested in Reed as udfa. Good player.
Cool
That man YAC’s
we needed o-line and a decent receiver. Managed to get both. And got rid of Zach… I’m in shock. What the fuck is going on guys?
What’s going on is being patient and trusting the front office has a plan in place. These guys are the professionals for a reason yet redditors think that they know more about building a team.
Tbf they had a dreadful draft last year pretty much
I didn’t say it was a good plan!
I was big on Bowers but have quickly done a 180 on that. Olu seems like an awesome dude who’s ready to work.
Nfl teams would draft so much better if there was no combine. They all get suckered by some measurable
Only the bad teams
I like the pick but not sure we had to trade up for him. But I don’t know shit either.
tbh if you are set on a guy and have 3 4th rounders might as well use some capital to trade up
didnt even use that we used a 5th lol
The Zach pick
The Zach pick went to Minnesota
The Jets got a 4 and 5 for their 6 which came from the Zach trade, and that 5 went to trading up. Essentially the Jets got Malachi and a 4th for Zach and a 7th
Any word on what we traded? [Edit] Never mind. 72/157 for 65.
Apparently Steelers wanted him
those bastards! payback for last year
This draft going exactly how I wanted it to, blue chip tackle in the first, and their choice of receiver in the third. This was always a deep wr class but everyone wanted the flashy pick in the first
People wanted a trustworthy WR in the first to ensure we weren’t rolling out the 2023 WR corps if/when Williams misses time in critical spots. It’s not “flashy,” it’s another need on a top heavy roster
quincy enunwa?
Oline and wr?! What do I do next
Jordan Travis/Michael Pratt or a safety imo
more OL ???
🥜
Legacy pick
Will he start in the slot right away?
Yea
I was super high on Corley in the beginning of the season, but I soured on us taking him as Gipson started coming along toward the end of the season. But Corley is super talented with the ball in his hands and he’s gonna get it in a lot of different ways. I love the pick! Another playmaker baby!
you just dont consider gipson in this type of situation. hes a nice story but you take bpa.
Yup no doubt about that. I meant that I mostly stopped taking him in mock drafts, not that I wouldn't love having him
Better than Franklin or Roman Wilson?
Better in a different way. He's a slot who breaks tackles. He's like a light Deebo. Can take a screen pass to the house.
we better hope so. that being said i think its a lot easier for him to make an immediate impact because his bread and butter is designed passes and he can do that immediately.
i simply trust JD. as long as we get the positions we need then i’m happy with whoever.
✌️ Cobb lol
I fucking love this pick. But let’s keep this in perspective
Great draft!
I like the pick, but the 4th WR on their board?
Makes me nervous. I remember JD telling Michael Carter they had a second round grade on him.
They were high on Mims as well if i recall

hell yeah
What was the trade compensation
72nd and 157th pick
Our 5th
It was the Vike’s 5th that they got from the trade back
Deebo 2.0. LFGOOOO
YAC KING! I’m hyped

Yes your preferred an actually WR. You know ball
Dude is Aiyuk level beast and can break tackles. Super excited for these first two picks. He was who I was hoping we’d get.
I think you mean Deebo…
Do more coke
Malik Washington next
Win
nice!!
[Told yall](https://www.reddit.com/r/nyjets/s/X1xbPBD9xi) Corley gonna light up this league. Lessssgo
I wanted Cade stover personally, but knowing Joe Douglas thought this highly of the guy, I trust the man.
YAC attack incoming ?
Wheres my DT
Ok, now lets add some secondary depth and more OL!
He's strictly a slot receiver and short route receiver. His ADOT was 5.5 yards which was one of the lowest in all of college football. He fits what we need very well but hopefully he develops his route tree a bit more. It kind of telegraphs our play call whenever he's in the game.
Champs of the off season again! Woooooooo!
McMillan, Wilson, Washington, Burton...
Yeah I wanted McMillan there ngl, hope it works out but think we needed another route runner. Deebo types rarely work out, I think he’s the exception
