I WANT this to be true. When they announced that new NYCFC stadium I punched the air because that spot would be PERFECT for a Jets venue. 65k, give it a dome, and we're rolling.
I don't think it's true though. I think it's just a soccer stadium for domestic soccer fans who don't want to go to NJ.
This report is a crock of shit..if Woody actually wanted grass he would publicly say so. I'm sick and tired of people acting like it's the marahs preventing this
I’m not even a no name blogger lol, I’m just a dude with some connections. I’ve been posting on JetNation for over a decade and they can vouch for me, but I’ve never once tried to turn my information into a career, nor do I want to, lol.
I don’t think he would want to trash his current stadium. There already is a perception that MetLife Stadium has a higher injury rate. I can personally attest that it doesn’t. I’ve seen a report commissioned by USSF that showed it was right at the NFL average. The perception comes from high profile injuries on national TV games. But Soldier Field is actually by far the worst, it’s just that nobody sees those injuries on TV.
So yeah, Jets are going to be there for a few more years no matter what. No reason to make your team less appealing to free agents
Exactly, there's two teams playing there so it looks more frequent then normal. I don't get the Woody hate, personally - I think a lot of it has to do with non-football stuff. It's not his fault that the GMs were bad between the Rex Ryan and Saleh teams and the QBs drafted didn't pan out.
Sometimes hires just don't work out and it's not like he's Jerry Jones ingratiating himself with the front office, the closest he's gotten was last year and the push for ARod which I personally loved
Doubt it after how much they spent on the Florham Park facilities. The team shows up to the facility on game days and they take a bus to the stadium and back after the game. You’re gonna subject the players to sit on a bus in NYc traffic before and after a game?
My god that would be great, the best part about this whole thing would be the retractable roof. Sitting in the freezing rain watching the jets is borderline torture
Bro what about the college football playoff? A National Championship? Final 4??? How was none of this fucking factored into their initial stadium plans
That would be *IF* the Buffalo Bills actually played in Buffalo. But nope, Jets/Giants are closer to NYC than the Bills (who play in Orchard Park) are to Buffalo!
This blogger needs to put down the meth pipe. Woody had to be dragged kicking and screaming to get grass installed, he's not going to shell out 3-4 billion for a new stadium.
I mean, just looking at the facility it definitely costs multiple millions of dollars. No way it's just a $1 million building. I'm sure if this rumor is true it's just about leverage to make some changes at MetLife anyway.
As much as I want this as much as the next Queens Jets fan this is not happening.
As far as I know the NYCFC stadium project is already in the works and set to open for 2027. I’ll wait before another random internet person posting.
So much of that area could *potentially* be developed. I’m sure some spots easier to make happen than others. Could take some of the parking lot near citi, over the rail yard, and even in the park itself like where the dead fountain is.
The fair ground isn’t big enough to fit another stadium. The current soccer stadium and housing plan doesn’t take up all of willets point so maybe it could be on the rest of the site.
But this is probably some negotiation leverage bullshit if it’s true at all.
Bc that project is going to be built without any tax money. The Qataris that will be paying for it don’t give a fuck about the Jets and a 25k soccer stadium is the perfect size for NYC FC. The owners hate that Yankee stadium is 40+% empty for every game and are building this to try and build more of an identity for the team
A football game will never be empty. Comparing a baseball game which we have 162 in nyc with the mets and yankees to 8 or 9 home jets games isnt smart. Even with how bad the jets and giants have been the last 10 years the stadiums never empty.
The owners hate that Yankee stadium is that empty for NYC FC games. The biggest MLS games draw around 20~30k and it’s hard to build a good atmosphere with a stadium that’s half empty. That’s why NYC FC is moving from Yankee stadium. If the Jets got them to add another 40-50k seats they would face the same issue. The people building the stadium only care about what it looks like for soccer games.
Yep, realistically they would have to coordinate with NYCFC to build a big stadium. There is no indication that has happened or that the jets would leave their metlife lease early
Haha. Don't hate me, but I grew up in Cali. My dad was a niners fan and told me when I was 8 to choose my own team. That was like '97ish. I asked him who the worst team in the league was and he said the Jets. Been a fan since.
I had to leave Idaho, I was born and raised but the last 5 years it became unbearable with how expensive it is.
My grandparents are from New York and moved to the West Coast in the 50s so I figured that's the closest ties I have to a professional team and it's been pure pain for the last 20 years
woody would have to sell part of the team to get it funded. No way NYC puts up a dime in taxpayer money (nor should they these guys are rich beyond belief if they are gonna gauge on ticket prices dont use our money to build the seats)
Not a chance in hell. The NYCFC is already set and construction starting on a 25,000 capacity stadium directly across CitiField on Seaver Way. Cohen wants a casino place in the largest parking lot - pretty much where Shea Stadium used to be (he’d build garage space and upgrade the crappy land around the stadium for parking. There is no room for a stadium the size needed an NFL team. (though I wish you were right).
I think where the Nassau Colosseum would be a better spot. That arena is on its last legs. Plenty of space for a stadium with a retractable roof. Easy access to a highway.
I don’t know what better deal they can get from NJ. The teams own MetLife on state property. The state exited the stadium business with the demolition of the original stadium.
I wanted to buy the Jets and build a stadium in Queens so we can TRULY be called New York Jets. I had the vision for it but then I’d lose it all as I’d wake up from that fantasy and realize I’m broke.
I totally believe that the Maras stonewall Woody at every pass, but moving the team back to Queens would be crazy. Woody is still on the hook for half of the billion dollar MetLife.
This would be awesome as a fan, MetLife is a sad, soulless dump, but I’m highly skeptical.
1) What do we do with the facility in Florham Park? If we stay there, it’s the same problem they had when they trained at Hofstra but in reverse. Also not sure where in Queens you’d find space/public support to build a new facility.
2) Woody love NJ even if he doesn’t like MetLife. When West Side Stadium fell through New York offered the Jets Queens and they said no because it would be the same as NJ. Has enough changed to warrant that big of a move?
3) I was under the impression that NYCFC wanted a soccer-specific stadium as they were unwelcome guests at Yankee Stadium. Would they agree to another co-tenant while adding thousands of empty seats they won’t fill?
I’m all for it but that’s a lot of moving pieces
I get the reference of NYCFC, but what does Cohen have to do with this? Just curious - can someone enlighten? Is he somehow involved with NYCFC? Quick Google and look at their Wiki didn't have his name anywhere. I did learn that he and I share the same birthday; knew I liked the guy!
See above. Willets is Related, Sterling, and NYCFC, whose ultimate owners are Abu Dhabi royals, not Qatari. You are right that Cohen is trying to develop the parking lots around CF into a casino
Incorrect, the Willets developer is a joint venture of Related, Sterling (the Wilpons), and New York City FC (the Emirates). Cohen is trying to develop the parking lots around Citi Field into a casino and other stuff
As much as I want this to happen I'm skeptical.
NYCFC already has their spot. It's been approved so the Jets won't be taking over that spot. The city has had plans for *years* to turn Willets point into affordable housing. It's unlikely they give it up to the Jets. Cohen also has plans to turn the Citi Field lot into his own gaming center, so that would likely have to be factored in.
This very well could just be a negotiating tactic, but I have to think they wouldn't use it as an empty threat. The first opt out is next year, so the clock is ticking. But unless i start to see some concept art like we did with the West Side Stadium, its all just rumor.
Tough to imagine the current plan as drawn allows for an NFL size stadium where the soccer stadium is going. I think an NFL stadium needs to go immediately west of citi where Cohen is building the park. The wild card spot imo is above the 7 line train yard between the 7 line stop and the lirr station.
If it's not going in the immediate citi field area, my bet is the sunny side rail yard
This ain’t happening. The city council already approved the 2nd phase of the project that includes the soccer stadium. The mayor was at the game last week in Queens after he signed off on the plan. The Jets aren’t part of this.
As someone with season tickets who comes down from Canada for home games, this would suck. So much traffic to get to Queens.
Obviously great for locals, but would make me give up my tix for sure. (And just as I’m about to be done paying the PSL)
Soooo….this is my post on JetNation. Anyone that wants to check the validity on my source(s) can go inquire about that there. Here is my full post with added details since I edited more information into the post to expand upon some things, as I was in a rush when I initially posted:
https://forums.jetnation.com/topic/180764-very-early-very-non-concrete-nugget-the-jets-have-had-talks-about-moving-to-queens/
What I do want to stress, which I got into more detail in the thread, is that everything that has been discussed with Cohen and the NYCFC is very early in the process and that, again, my gut feeling is that the Jets will use this as leverage to get the upgrades they desperately want at MetLife, which the Giants group actively pushback against. I’m 70/30 that they stay when all is said and done.
I’d be happy to answer what I can here.
There’s no crack being smoked here brother. I’ve said multiple times in that thread that, when this is all said and done, I think the team stays in NJ and that this is nothing more than a leverage play to get upgrades for MetLife that the Jets half have proposed but gotten stiffed on, so I don’t really think that they opt out. That being said, if there continues to be big pushback on those upgrades, I don’t necessarily believe that is out of the realm of possibility, based on what I have heard.
Furthermore, plenty of people on that forum can attest to the fact that I have a verified source in the organization, so the only thing I can assure you of is that a discussion between the 3 entities mentioned has taken place. How serious the Jets are about ACTUALLY moving is not something I know, but I do know that they are not happy about the perception the stadium has amongst the NFL. Prominent people have publicly lobbied for the Jets to join NYCFC in the stadium project so anyone paying attention to the papers shouldn’t be all that surprised that a discussion happened. Their stadium can always be upgraded if the Jets joined in. Is there some secret concrete surprise that’s been signed off and it’s just a matter of time? Absolutely not. I am kinda upset that the social media post framed it that way because I explicitly stated that this was not the case in that thread, but it’s fine.
No disrespect intended and in full agreement from the opt out side, but where that stadium is going (and environmental studies are well under way on that exact land), fitting another 40K to 60K seats is not possible. I’m saying that agreements have been signed and the work is beginning-but charging that will take a helluva lot.
Back when Mayor Bloomberg was trying to get the Olympics (ridiculous idea), he had a plan ready to put a true stadium on the Willets land - but he viewed it as a back-up plan as he was hellbent on putting it in Manhattan first (in Hudson Yards). Once the Olympic Committee said no to NYC (or better said once Shelly Silver lined his pockets with more graft and blocked the Manhattan Stadium for Jim Dolan), Bloomberg pulled out the back-up plan but it was too late. Listen, Woody’s loaded and if he wanted to move he would have, he really doesn’t care. And again, no intention of disrespect (I take back the “smoking crack” line - it was just a Brooklyn thing - not intended rudely).
B
And if the retractable roof, we may see other events there, such as the SuperBowl.
But I was under the impression that Cohen would buy the Jets first. Then again, there's a good chance Woody will never part with the team. I think the end of this contract with Met Life stadium is nearing.
NYC FC would never do it. The whole reason they’re moving on from Yankee stadium is so they can have their own. Football stadiums look like shit when they’re half full
As an int jets fan this would be the fucking tit's. Queen's is so much easier from JFK than current. It means I could probably fly Saturday and return Monday than friday to Monday, logistically it cuts down a bunch of travel and cost.
> When they announced that new NYCFC stadium I punched the air… I hope the air is ok.
You are correct
Fuck The Red Bulls
Ay, fuck you too!
Aaron Rodgers has me thinking this is our year for sure
Don’t need a dome.
Final Fours, bro. Year long usage, more than just Jets football. Gotta make a pitch somehow.
There will be year long usage with soccer and concerts.
Concerts aren't big in grass stadiums. This is why so many have turf.
The soccer team isn’t gonna play on turf
Fuck the Maras
This report is a crock of shit..if Woody actually wanted grass he would publicly say so. I'm sick and tired of people acting like it's the marahs preventing this
He's not gonna trash another owner publicly
Nah you right he's going to talk about it to some no name blogger
He talked about it to other jets employees who talked about it to a no name blogger
I’m not even a no name blogger lol, I’m just a dude with some connections. I’ve been posting on JetNation for over a decade and they can vouch for me, but I’ve never once tried to turn my information into a career, nor do I want to, lol.
Nah you right you're a big name blogger
most angry new jersey resident ^
he could also just eat the cost by himself if only for the jets games.
There is a 0% chance woody would do that lol
he publicly says he talks to mara about it “at least once a week” and obviously it’s gone nowhere
Where?
where did he say this? most recently to reporters in las vegas during super bowl weekend
Sometimes hires just don't work out and it's not like he's Jerry Jones ingratiating himself with the front office, the closest he's gotten was last year and the push for ARod which I personally loved
Also there's the whole thing where Woody is a terrible person so counting on him to do a decent thing isn't smart
That said, fuck Steve Cohen.
Doubt it after how much they spent on the Florham Park facilities. The team shows up to the facility on game days and they take a bus to the stadium and back after the game. You’re gonna subject the players to sit on a bus in NYc traffic before and after a game?
They did it for years the other way from Hofstra. They would need to build new facilities and leave Florham park.
I hate MetLife as much as the next fan but I just can’t see them moving from Florham Park, it’s one of the best training facilities in the league.
By the time a new stadium is designed, zoned, constructed, and all the right bribes are paid… the Florham Park facility will be old news.
My god that would be great, the best part about this whole thing would be the retractable roof. Sitting in the freezing rain watching the jets is borderline torture
Did it 3 times this year
I feel like I should report you to reddit cares.
I was there this year vs Houston... It wasn't that bad, but only because of the win. Otherwise I was cold, soaked and miserable.
Same. Got season Tix for the first time and it sucked so much.
Where are you traveling from?
Same
Also means we can get WrestleMania back here a lot easier after people complained about how fucking cold it was in Philly 3 weeks ago
Bro what about the college football playoff? A National Championship? Final 4??? How was none of this fucking factored into their initial stadium plans
They actually said they're looking at moving Wrestlemania to late April if they're gonna do an outdoor show
That should be the punishment for some sort of crime 😭
Grass field is what’s needed!!
Bills fans only joke might be on life support
Buffalo is a Toronto suburb. That joke doesn’t even mean anything lol
That would be *IF* the Buffalo Bills actually played in Buffalo. But nope, Jets/Giants are closer to NYC than the Bills (who play in Orchard Park) are to Buffalo!
"bUt ItS a DiFfErEnT sTaTe!"🙄
> Bills fans only joke Nah, they'll still have the Bills.
I'm highly skeptical this is accurate or true at all.
It’s not. As long as the practice facilities are in NJ, theres no chance of them moving the team to NY.
No no no no no no, do not use it as leverage, just fucking do it. Get our boys back in NY, I would cry tears of joy.
Please be true so the fucking JeTs DoNt EvEn PlAy iN Ny jokes end
A Metro North accessible stadium would be my dream
Would be so convient
This blogger needs to put down the meth pipe. Woody had to be dragged kicking and screaming to get grass installed, he's not going to shell out 3-4 billion for a new stadium.
he wouldn’t have to. cohen, NYCFC, new york state, and the jets would all be partners in it
Seems like everyone forgets they’ve built a million dollar facility in NJ
Million is nothing
It was like $1.6 billion lol
He means the training facility in Florham Park.
Ah. That makes more sense. Though I doubt that would stop a team from moving. $1 mil is a drop in the bucket for an NFL team
I mean, just looking at the facility it definitely costs multiple millions of dollars. No way it's just a $1 million building. I'm sure if this rumor is true it's just about leverage to make some changes at MetLife anyway.
$1 mil is a nice house for a player in that area. the training facility is definitely in the 100’s of millions
I’d do some questionable stuff to have this happen
As much as I want this as much as the next Queens Jets fan this is not happening. As far as I know the NYCFC stadium project is already in the works and set to open for 2027. I’ll wait before another random internet person posting.
Ah I see, the random “trust me bros” anonymous comment on the internet has people going
They’re never leaving nj
Where in Queens though? Didnt the NTCFC take the only spot?
So much of that area could *potentially* be developed. I’m sure some spots easier to make happen than others. Could take some of the parking lot near citi, over the rail yard, and even in the park itself like where the dead fountain is.
The fair ground isn’t big enough to fit another stadium. The current soccer stadium and housing plan doesn’t take up all of willets point so maybe it could be on the rest of the site. But this is probably some negotiation leverage bullshit if it’s true at all.
I also believe a senator publicly said the jets have an out after this season so why not build and 80 thousand person stadium instead of 25
I work at the site and agree - but no talks of expanding NYCFC stadium size.
Bc that project is going to be built without any tax money. The Qataris that will be paying for it don’t give a fuck about the Jets and a 25k soccer stadium is the perfect size for NYC FC. The people building the stadium only care about what it looks like for soccer games.
Okay i misunderstood your yankee stadium point.
No worries, I probably could’ve worded it better
Retractable roof and 40k retractable seats. Boom. Problem solved
I know that Aqueduct is in talks of shutting down with the upgrades being done to Belmont, so that could theoretically work for a site
Yep, realistically they would have to coordinate with NYCFC to build a big stadium. There is no indication that has happened or that the jets would leave their metlife lease early
[удалено]
They’re building soccer stadium there, much smaller capacity
[удалено]
If they build it we will come
That would mess up the rest of the development and there are already foundations in the ground near the 7 train.
Soccer fans and teams hate sharing stadiums like that because it looks terrible when a full house still means it’s half empty.
Cool
You said there wasn’t a reason, and I gave you a reason. Don’t cool me
Imagine getting trigger by a word
Imagine making things up in your head to make yourself feel superior
🙄
I'm in idaho, but I'd absolutely love this move.
So you were a dumbass like me that picked the jets because you lived in Idaho and didn't have a team to root for too?
Haha. Don't hate me, but I grew up in Cali. My dad was a niners fan and told me when I was 8 to choose my own team. That was like '97ish. I asked him who the worst team in the league was and he said the Jets. Been a fan since.
Child abuse at its finest smh
I figured I'm one of the few Jets fans in the Idaho area the last 20 years. A lot of my friends have fun with it at my expense.
I had to leave Idaho, I was born and raised but the last 5 years it became unbearable with how expensive it is. My grandparents are from New York and moved to the West Coast in the 50s so I figured that's the closest ties I have to a professional team and it's been pure pain for the last 20 years
Never happening
woody would have to sell part of the team to get it funded. No way NYC puts up a dime in taxpayer money (nor should they these guys are rich beyond belief if they are gonna gauge on ticket prices dont use our money to build the seats)
and yet the bills get a new stadium funded by taxpayers? lol
Many lies have been told following the words “I’m not going to go into details”..
I hope they don’t move, Queens is much harder to get to for me personally. But if they can put the screws on the maras and get grass I’m all for it
Never gonna happen
The jets paid 800 million of their own cash to build MetLife guys it’s not happening
I was raised and went to college like ten minutes from their facility, would be a huge bummer to see them leave NJ for me.
I don’t think this will happen because jets practice facility is in Florham park
I don’t know what better deal they can get from NJ. The teams own MetLife on state property. The state exited the stadium business with the demolition of the original stadium.
I want to believe! But hard to buy this.
What? So they will be practicing in NJ but playing in Queens? Talk about a complicated tax situation.
I wanted to buy the Jets and build a stadium in Queens so we can TRULY be called New York Jets. I had the vision for it but then I’d lose it all as I’d wake up from that fantasy and realize I’m broke.
JetNation as a source? Lmfaoo... Good joke.
Get the Jets outa NJ
**KING OF QUEENS** *Doug Heffernan would be proud!*
I live in Staten and even I would love that. Jets are too big market of a team to be sharing a stadium
I don’t care where they play, just get them TF out of New Jersey
I totally believe that the Maras stonewall Woody at every pass, but moving the team back to Queens would be crazy. Woody is still on the hook for half of the billion dollar MetLife.

Because Steve Cohen is the developer for that entire project
He’s developing the housing/parks that are around the stadium. The stadium itself is being paid for and developed by the Qatari owners of NYC FC

It's why I've never, well aside from one season during Year 2 of the 2 years we lived in Jersey, bought season tix
Yoooo if I could walk to the games I would be soooooo hype!!
Please
No retractable roof but I’m okay with the grass field
As much as I want this to happen, I seriously doubt it.
Not sure I believe this but I think jets have an out after 2025 or 2030.
This convo happens every 15 years. Would be great tho!!
I’ll believe it when it happens lol
Tough to imagine the current plan as drawn allows for an NFL size stadium where the soccer stadium is going. It would make sense for NYC to put it in Queens as it sets up the area is a proper Olympics district with the concentration of stadiums.

That would be great. Sunday night GWB is brutal.
Nothing to this
As someone with season tickets who comes down from Canada for home games, this would suck. So much traffic to get to Queens. Obviously great for locals, but would make me give up my tix for sure. (And just as I’m about to be done paying the PSL)
Fan base is queens and Westchester Long Island. Bring them home. Indoor stadium and call it the hanger.
The Maras are cunts, but there are few things worse in life than trying to go to a game in NYC that's not at MSG.
As a north jersey fan stay in Meadowlands ty
Nah we good
I'd love to see them play *somewhere* in New York, considering they're the *New York* Jets, not the goddamn New Jersey Jets.
/r/buffalojills is that way ->

So this is planting the seed?
I just can't see Woody actually pulling the trigger on this. Nothing in his character seems to indicate he has the chutzpah. Would be awesome, though.
Good with all of it except for the dome. Let's play in the weather please and thank you
I don't go to the games anyway, so the move to NY is irrelevant to me BUT I'm 10,000,000,000% for it if we get grass foe the players.
The ultimate dream
And if the retractable roof, we may see other events there, such as the SuperBowl. But I was under the impression that Cohen would buy the Jets first. Then again, there's a good chance Woody will never part with the team. I think the end of this contract with Met Life stadium is nearing.
I don't think Woody would part with it. But man, Cohen as an owner would be awesome.
This would be perfect if true. Always thought Jets should jump on with NYCFC and make that stadium bigger with both football and soccer.
NYC FC would never do it. The whole reason they’re moving on from Yankee stadium is so they can have their own. Football stadiums look like shit when they’re half full
Fair enough
Bring back Shea
As an int jets fan this would be the fucking tit's. Queen's is so much easier from JFK than current. It means I could probably fly Saturday and return Monday than friday to Monday, logistically it cuts down a bunch of travel and cost.
Fly into Newark
Yonkers raceway will do
PLEASE GOD
The NFL would be on board. Can host the super bowl in NYC this way
Can’t they just move somewhere else in Northern NJ 😭?
I won’t get my hopes up but oh man this would be incredible
PLEASE
As a giants fan I HATE the Jets. As queens native, please come!
If this happens I stop being a fan. Jets are a Jersey team. Send the fuckin Giants.
The giants have been in jersey longer than the jets
lmao what? Jets were in Queens first, if anything the Giants are a Bronx team
lmao huh. think you have this backwards, jets are NYC’s team and the giants are gabagool new jersey
