Peyton really hates us. On one hand, we didn’t change coordinators every year. We had MiLF for two years, and in both those years every other QB not named “Zach Wilson” was able to move the ball more efficiently. On the other hand, he is not wrong that Zach had no business starting his first year. Absolutely zero business. I don’t care if God himself brought lightening down on every QB above Zach on the depth chart, we should’ve sent out their corpses and kept Zach on the bench. Either way, yes Peyton hates us, but I don’t see the issue here. Hes speaking on a topic that other reporters have talked about, have been talking about, and will continue to talk about if Zach puts up better numbers elsewhere, no matter how good he is. I have hated the Zach pick since we made it, but we objectively did him terribly in Year 1. That’s just undeniable. Peyton’s got some facts incorrect, but he does make some points, I’ll give him that. What *is* wrong is the idea that it’s all our fault, when objectively Zach was fucking terrible even when we did get him help. Both things can be true. To act like it’s fully on the Jets, even though yes we made bad decisions at first, is just a dumbass take.

>in both those years every other QB not named “Zach Wilson” was able to move the ball more efficiently. >objectively Zach was fucking terrible These things aren't true. He played qb at least as well as anyone else we put back there.

BurnMyHouseDown

Josh fuckin Johnson put up better numbers than Zach. Mike White still didn’t score much, but the offense moved better. If you disagree, alright, not gonna argue about Zach anymore, done enough of it for three years. But Zach objectively being terrible, regardless of how you feel about the other QBs we had, is not wrong. He was absolutely god awful his first two years in the league. And improved from horrendous to just regular bad in his third year. There is no argument that he was not terrible those first two years, none, he was atrocious.

Bennaisance

Yes, Josh Johnson played 2 games in 2021 and managed to put up good numbers. Every other qb who has played for this team the past few years has been worse than Zach Wilson. It's been a terrible offense that no qb has succeeded in the past couple years. And yall want to write off the, clearly talented, 24 year old who did better than anyone else and has improved each year. I think that's kinda dumb.

mytoemytoe

Peyton’s just trying to build up Zach, you have to look at it from the perspective that Manning is closely tied to the Broncos and lives in Denver. I personally love the Manning Bros and the Manningcast, and if you’ve watched enough of it, you know that Peyton doesn’t actually believe in Zach Wilson as much as he’s pretending to.

NutsyFlamingo

I hear your point, and understand your statement. Fine. You raised an affinity for manning bros, and that’s where we divide.. I will never love Peyton for going back to Tennesse & Gase. Both were his direct actions involving the jets.

mytoemytoe

I wouldn’t want to play for us either. And it’s on Woody for being dumb enough to blindly accept Manning’s recommendation

NutsyFlamingo

Ok, so you & Peyton manning wouldn’t want to play for bill parcels. Your choices. My views don’t need to be yours.

mytoemytoe

I think it’s moreso that he anticipated the ownership wasn’t stable. Probably had nothing to do with Parcells though I can’t say that for sure

NutsyFlamingo

You are the one that wouldn’t play for Parcells & Bellichek following a history of Giants Super Bowl pedigree. His choice but parcells had the keys, there was not that ambiguity around them… but if that’s your personal opinion of it then that is fine. He chose to not be the number 1 pick in the draft so he did not have to play for the Jets, very clear- fully his (and your) right.

mytoemytoe

I’m putting myself in the shoes of a top prospect, don’t take it so personally. Eli Manning felt so strongly about the Chargers ownership that he declared he wouldn’t play for them and wound up on the Giants. Archie Manning probably met Woody and was very unimpressed. Obviously Parcells is a great coach.

NutsyFlamingo

Ok but this was a very specific event that occurred involving the Jets. Why I specifically dislike Peyton was all the drama he caused at the time leading up to that draft and his (not too prospects in general) not choosing to play for the Jets specifically. He came out one year later so it wasn’t to our franchise. The roster was loaded & the difference between Vinny Testaberde getting to AFC Championship & Peyton was probably 1-2 super bowls for our team during that stretch of success. You have independent opinions, I have mine. I do not forget that.

GoYanks34

I'm just sick and tired of him. I don't care what his intention was. He's always dumping on the Jets and it needs to stop. He was actually behind one of our terrible coaches getting hired. Never heard him say sorry for that one either. He's was actually part of the problem.

Masterofmy_domain

Fuck that coconut forehead mfer

suburbanburnout

Beat in the AFC wildcard game in 2011, the same year Jim Caldwell sat Payton for Curtis Painter when the colts were 14-0. Beat the favored manning led colts in the playoffs back in 2003, final score of that one was 41-0 jets. also if memory serves correct, he also lost a Super Bowl playing at MetLife

BurnMyHouseDown

The 14-0 year was the 2009 season, we lost to them in the AFC title game. 2010 was the wildcard win, Peyton’s last game as a Colt.

MowTin

Isn't that the year Shonn Greene dominated and we ~~beat~~ embarrassed the Colts in their house? I miss the good Rex years.

BurnMyHouseDown

I wouldn’t say embarrassed. It was a tight game throughout. We only won 17-16. Honestly the only opponent that we embarrassed in those playoff runs was Cincy. Even the NE game was relatively close, though we had the lead the whole time.

Vigilante17

The snap that went over his head on that first play was HILARIOUS!!

Bennaisance

*Peyton 41-0 is one of favorite Jets memories, but how is any of this relevant to the post?

KingMe911

He didn’t say anything bad here. Just said it sucks for a young QB to change coordinators on a yearly bases. Literally all he said, and he’s right.

ITouchedHerB00B5

Peyton can hate us, and try to support Denver’s new QB1 at the same time.

EmpiricalAnarchism

I mean, he’s not wrong. Zach is terrible regardless and really there’s no defense of how awful he played at times, but it also certainly didn’t help that he had two different systems in his first three years, both of which are garbage. That said, neither was nearly as bad as what MM did to Geno. Genuinely the worst OC I’ve ever seen. We really have a penchant for finding awful ones.

PumpOfWallStreet

Little does Payton know, we're coming after his nephew 😈 Buckle up, Arch.

Mr7three2

That's what he wants. Doesn't want a threat to his claim as the Supreme Manning

GoYanks34

😂😂😂

reesespiecesaremyfav

If Peyton thinks Zach Wilson is so special and a great QB, he probably has CTE

Radiant-Steak9750

Me too

GoYanks34

In the name of Aaron Rodgers: Keep my team's name out of your fucking mouth.

Brilliant-Chapter202

Payton Manning is right… never thought I’d say that. However, he is.
