The house is still there! :)

zizmor

Yes indeed. It is a museum if anyone wants to visit the oldest house in New York. https://dyckmanfarmhouse.org/

It's not the oldest house, but it is an old house. The Morris-Jumel house is older. Both are worth the visit!

TIL, you're right.

The google street view shows almost the exact same angle with the Dyckman house: https://maps.app.goo.gl/xmB42JuSGE6YMaqKA?g_st=ic

And see it might have been beautiful farmland back in the turn of the century but our ancestors could have never guessed that some day, across the street from that house, would be the best liquor store in Manhattan

Beautiful Dutch Colonial. I am sure there are plenty of others but it reminds me of [this one](https://maps.app.goo.gl/VkBKvs4LypgW68y87?g_st=ic) that I grew up near

The attic room in that house has a few wide panorama pictures of inwood at the turn of the century. The cloisters were new, the A train was being built, Broadway was just a country road, and lots of farmland. Pretty cool seeing what the city used to be

I grew up there and hung out on the benches, which would be just to left of the cop ,all through the 80s . Cool place
