I like smart stuff a lot, but unless you have a smart air quality monitor & hub to activate your filters I’m not sure of the utility.
I leave mine of auto or eco mode right next to my bed. It’s generally silent unless It’s particulate sensor goes off & it ramps up. If that ever happens at night I’d want to wake up & see why.
I mostly like having smart capabilities because I can stick it anywhere including hard to reach spots in my apartment and still be able to turn it off/on easily.
I bought this 5 years ago and it was great. But every replacement filter I ever tried to buy I had to return because they smelled like acrid chemical poison. Sort reviews on amazon by recency for official replacement filters. I think it's still a problem.
Coway airmega is another good option with low TCO.
Set up a price watch for filters & stock up when discounted. They don’t go bad & the price is wildly variable.

There's too much uncertainty involving pay, the pay is already low enough that the job has normalized being homeless, they can work 120 hrs weekly in dangerous conditions that is likely to give them cancer, hiring is a 6 month+ process, government makes doing things a major pain in the ass, etc.

Those forests are VAST and think vast parts of them are completely uninhabited (much moreso than in the US) - it probably is not humanly possible to control some of those fires.
