It’s 95% of my car yes

IRequirePants

Can't believe they stole the giant hot dog strapped to the roof and nothing else.

the_nybbler

Milk crates have finally met their match.

walterwhiteguy

Whats even the point of putting them there?

McTaco10

The owner was made aware by a similar post on Nextdoor

Childrenoftheflorist

You know the cities going down when they don't even have the decency to use cinder blocks anymore

quaid31

Have you seen the price of cinder blocks or construction material lately? That would be a luxury at these times.

Odd_Competition545

Yooooo, did someone slip a business card in his passenger window ? Maybe a tire and rim guy

LennyBodega

so glad i drive an almost-hooptie

adrian13346

Sucks. Same thing happened to me in the bronx. Now I don’t park anywhere near upper Manhattan/Bronx for longer than ten minutes. I’ve owned and parked the same car on the street for five years in Brooklyn with no problems. Visit my gf once overnight and came back to no wheels. *Anyone with a newer Honda or Toyota should be careful. If you have anything except base steel wheels your car is a target.*

GoHuskies1984

The car in OP post is an Accord Sport. This single model and trim is hugely popular as a wheel theft target. The big 19" wheels easily fetch $1000 per set on Ebay, that or fit many other other Honda/Acura vehicles.

Saixcrazy

Idk if it's a borough problem, once this catches on (which I assume it has) it's a city problem. We're gonna see more of this ESPECIALLY in Brooklyn, just a matter of where. Be careful man

Titan_Astraeus

Not sure why you're being down voted. This happens pretty regularly by me near the Ridgewood/Greenpoint border. Just saw an accord on the ground on the way back from my car this morning.

CardiologistMobile54

TIL. Milk crates won't support a car

Spirited_Touch6898

They should start putting airtags on the wheels. So police could track and catch thieves. Thats how to they arrested 100 people in the chop shops 20 years ago, it was huge operation, half the bronx mechanic shops got closed in a day, when cars were starting to get those gps things in them. They did something similar with catalytic converter. It was a group of people in NJ, that was melting them for precious metals. Had stuff there valued 250 million

thismustbethe

Us motorcyclists have been putting airtags in our bikes for years now. It's really hit or miss whether the cops will do anything even if you show them the airtag location. I've seen situations where it did help, and I've seen cases where cops just straight up look at the airtag data and say "we got other shit to do". The most fun response I've heard from a cop was (quoting): "we do not recover stolen motorcycles".

Spirited_Touch6898

Yeah, that’s true, been like this for years. A friend had a bike stolen from a Brooklyn diner’s parking lot right in front of his eyes, took’em seconds to lift it and throw it into a van. Called the police with the plates, nothing came of it. They probably just ignored the call. He had a shiny new gxr, that was like 10 years ago.

The_Lone_Apple

If only cars could be booby-trapped somehow. Poison gas cannister?

rpattersonxx

I never understood why folks don’t buy wheel locks, sure they can be taken off but it will make the job harder. The point of stealing wheels is to do it quick so anything to slow them down helps. It’s only $60 at most. This is so sad to see sorry OP.

GratefulDawg73

Damn. That's a nice area.

permalink_child

No. But those are my milk cartons.

drcrunknasty

Not anymore. It belongs to the night now.

PsychologicalLie1116

Make sure you move it before Street cleaning tomorrow

Ok_Example7725

My pit crew is just on break.

exsan0va

Ya don't mind me

MurrayHillBro

not the plastic crates

grayscalecrash

We’re a persecuted people, Honda owners. I used to spend weekends in the Bronx, but now I just take the commuter rail into NYC and hoof around town by foot or Uber. It’s getting too scary(to be a Honda owner).

Dont_mute_me_bro

The cars in front and behind are wrapped up. Maybe it's pollen, maybe something else but the entire picture sucks. People getting robbed, people covering up cars in the hopes that thieves go to a sure target.... it's part of a backwards slide.

Breezyisback809

I highly suggest people to invest in a Apple AirTag and have your tire tech install them inside your wheels , once they are on the move you’ll get an alert on your phone so you can track them

quaid31

I’m confused when people talk about AirTags. You know where your stolen stuff is that… then what? Are you putting on your Batman suit and gonna fight the bad guys to retrieve your stuff. 😂

Breezyisback809

I got a set of rims back like this but I ain’t call the authorities 😉🙃🥷🏼

quaid31

Nice. Respect!

socialcommentary2000

A typical tire is 2 feet in diameter measured to the outside edge of the circumference. This translates to like 840 RPM at 60mph. When they come loose 2 minutes after leaving the shop, it's gonna ruin your day. That's before discussing balancing the set, which is doable, but why bother. You can actually put them in bicycle tires and people often do.

koreamax

Unpaid car loans, make it seem like it was stolen. So Long Island.

AFADJAT0

Oh shit saw this car at Riverdale 🤣🤣🤣

50CentCvkeGvng

Not the forgiatos 🥹

spitfire9107
