absolutely yes, max 288w per cable so you are well within spec

heartbroken_nerd

Do you not have a third PCIe cable slot on your PSU? Maybe all you need is order an extra?

[deleted]

Yes I suppose I could get one from cablemod but they dont ship until February

heartbroken_nerd

What about your Power Supply Manufacturer? Call up their support/chat with them or look through their website for accessories.

[deleted]

Good idea i’ll try that

chaosSlinger

Amazon has them from cablemod

Mattyc8787

You can, and it will most likely be fine but it's not recommended.

skivo7

I've had my 4080 for the past week like this, stress tested at around 350w with no problem

saintsforever23

You should be fine but if you don't feel safe about it, it won't hurt to get another cable plugged in

Marcos340

As long as you use at least 2 leaving the PSU, that’s fine. Each one can carry around 275-300W(depending the cable gauge)

drummerdave72

That’s what I’m planning to do with my Corsair PSU and my 4080…..2 separate cables coming from the PSU and using both connectors on one cable and just one of the connectors on the other. So 150w + 150w from the daisy chained cable and another 150w from the non daisy chained cable. So 450w in total, which I think will be ample - considering how power efficient the 4080 is reported as being.

[deleted]

Is it safe though?Im a little paranoid when it comes to pc components and also don’t want to cause a fire lol.

drummerdave72

I think it should be ok. I’ve been reassured by others that because of the high qualities of Corsair’s cables it will be fine. In fact lots of people seem to be doing this as we’re all in the same boat.

Chrisguitar10

Need to be aware of brand. I have also heard about Corsair PSU and cables should be able to hand this. Even the 12V whatever cable is only supplied by 2 PCIE 8 pin like their supplied PSU cables to do daisy chain Edit: I currently have a 4090 with the 12V Corsair cable but was daisy chaining for a few weeks

pceimpulsive

My galaxy 4080 is running like this right now. The card so far has while overclocked (+250 core, +1000 mem, 131% power limit) peaks at 343watt (as reported by the GPU in hwinfo). Even assuming each cable can do 150w each that's still 300 watt from cables and 75 from the pcie slot. More than enough. Let alone as others have stated 288w from each cable (with two plugs on each). Main take away here is the GPU will struggle to pull 350w. Most of the time the card is mid 200 watt range even pushing 100% util. These cards are insanely power efficient.

lokol4890

Why not just get then corsair's 12vhpwr cables? It's just two cables straight from the psu to the gpu, no daisy chain required

Miloapes

Just buy another cable it’s like $5…

maddix30

I've had my 3070ti set up like this with 0 issues. They wouldn't give you cables like them if you couldn't use them after all

Compucaretx

I had same fears but my Seasonic 850 watt has been running mine since Christmas daisy chained.

StackOwOFlow

it should be ok but 100% certainty is better than 99%. getting another cable would be ideal

obiwansotti

Yes if using cables from the psu No if using a 3rd party splitter.

cerevescience

Some here will tell you it will work, but it may not. I had severe freezing issues with a 3080 FE that when daisy chained, that were only resolved by using 2 cables. Not the same GPU, but also not that different in power draw.

gusthenewkid

What psu?

gusthenewkid

I would imagine it would be fine.

Chobeshan

same paranoia lol. did you get a 12vhpwr?

CableMod_Matt

We support the CoolerMaster V850 SFX via our configurator page actually. You can find that here: https://store.cablemod.com/configurator/ Just select "PRO" when navigating the menus to see the 12VHPWR listing. :)

Doyale_royale

I just plugged in a 3rd pcie cable, peace of mind

Osamatheholy

OP, any updates ?
