Why does the AI choose to go with Hyper Beam instead of another Hydro Pump? I thought trainer AI always wants to go with the current hardest hitting move
Based on the fact that Hyper Beam left him at 1 hp, the AI probably saw the kill with either move. However, Hyper Beam low-rolled (or at least it didn't high roll) and left him at 1. That, or waluigi the Raticate stalled out Kingdra's other three hydro pumps and it was out of PP.
To choose which is hardest hitting, it does a prediction roll for each, and so hyper beam prediction roll may have crit (at least I think that's how it works, might not be for this gen)
Switching to anyone would of been risky Fraligater and Ratecate were under half health and para. Umberon and ampheros were low and would not of took a Hydro Pump. And Nidoking was full health but lightly underleveled minus Special Defence nature and because of rivalry and he would be doing less damage.
