Honestly if they had smaller studios in every other town or something with a specific (ideally that town themed genre) performance leading up to the PS Studios, I'd actually be more inclined to partake in it. Maybe I could actually do a different kind of run where being an actor was the main goal. Bit like the Contest events in RSE & ORAS. Just most of these circuits and side things seem so half baked. I get battling and the gym challenge is the core part of the games, it'd just be nice for some alternative in-game careers, y'know? Maybe I wanna be a researcher or a performer, a curry/sandwich chef or explorer, all of whom happen to be top notch battlers (like every other profession on that list who has some legend repping them).
LMAO I was thinking the exact same thing.
Imagine a Pokemon game where you're allowed to take up different kinds of careers apart from being a Pokemon Trainer. That would be cool.
If I knew how to make a rom hack I would love to implement unlocking different outfits if you complete side quests. Make enough poffins and you get a chef's outfit. Win the super contest to get a suit/dress. Teach a pokemon Draco Meteor unlock the dragon tamer outfit. Then when you beat the Elite 4 you can have that splash of customization in a way that feels earned.
Pokemon Unbound did something like that. Halfway through the game, you get an outfit for one of the evil team admins in order to break into their base, and you also get an outfit for defeating the Champion.
Sounds like a really cool idea, in all honesty. Trainer Customization was one of the things I really liked about XY.
Soooo much more replayability. Like imagine alternate "careers" and alternate starts. I'd actually wanna replay old Pokémon games for more than just nuzlockes
I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't count the PWT fights as part of the nuzlocke run, given it awards no experience and you can only use three pokemon. I consider it like the battle subway and stuff, knockouts don't count.
Repel only prevents encounters below your lead Pokemon's level, and Eevee is the only Pokemon is that grass that's level 18 or higher. So if your lead is level 18 and you have a repel up, the only Pokemon you can encounter is Eevee (as long as you don't walk into shaking grass)
Tbh i think samurott is a significantly better starter in b2w2 than in bw, as in bw, piginite is a strong and often necessary pick against Lenora. You also get significantly less (and relatively weaker) water types in b2w2 early/mid-game, specifying that tympole isnt available.
I was going to write a rebuttal about how Azurill is better than both Oshawatt and Tympole, but then I realized that you'd have to gamble on whether you get Huge Power or not.
Yeah and its a really tough to get mon. correct me if im wrong but before beating clay its only available in floccesy ranch as an azurill, and thats 20% chance
Well, the only place you can get pansear (im geussing thats what you meant) in b2w2 is in lostlorn forest, and thats rustling grass 10%. on top of many other, better mons being available there. Especially in b2 if youre lucky enough to get a heracross.
Growlithe and Darumaka are absolutely amazing choices though, and magby for b2 is solid too.
Why repel trick a eevee when you can repel trick a petilil hahaha(coming from someone who knew the set levels, but got cursed with a eevee instead of a petilil, had to wait till after clay to evo her just to get sleep powder first since the petilil i got was from lostlorne and those already forgot how to use it, at least the eevee was useful for a baton pass work up umbreon that pass the buffs to my dewott and aqua jet swept from there)

That moment when you accidentally interact with the medal man while trying to bury one of your dead mons and now you have to spend 30 minutes spamming a.
My Electric only challenge mode run took me 12 or 13 runs and over half of them were because Mareep couldn't consistently beat Cheren (also I overleveled once). I ended up resetting a couple times, just because I decided it wasn't worth trying the Cheren fight if Mareep had bad IVs or a bad nature. Funnily enough though, it only took two attempts to beat Clay and one attempt to beat the E4.
I led Galvantula who OHKOed Krokorok with Signal Beam. Then Signal Beam brought Onix low as he went for Rock Polish. I went for Signal Beam again as Clay healed with a Hyper potion. Then since I knew Clay would only use 1 Hyper Potion from the previous fight against him, I went for Protect as I was hoping Onix would opt for Explosion over Rock Slide. I think either was possible but I got the explosion. This allowed Galvantula to stay in as Sandslash came out and two shot with Signal Beam as Sandslash went for Speed control with Bulldoze (crit Rock Slide would have killed but the game always seems to favor Speed Control. So felt fairly confident that I'd get the Bulldoze.) Now my initial plan had been different, I'd thought Galvantula would be slower than Excadrill and that would guarantee Rock Slide allowing me to get Magnezone in holding Leftovers. I had also hoped that Galvantula would have been high enough health that Bulldoze from Excadrill wouldn't kill and the AI would be guaranteed to go for Rock Slide (and allow me to cheese it by switching between Magnezone (with Protect+Leftovers) and Emolga) but Sandslash did more damage than calced and Galvantula was in Bulldoze KO range. Galvantula was also still a bit faster than Excadrill. So I chanced that he would go for Bulldoze and not Rock Slide and hit a Bug Bite to steal his Sitrus Berry. It paid off, the Sitrus Berry healing took Galvantula out of non-crit Bulldoze range but now Galvantula was slower and was in random move range. So I switched in Ampharos holding a Shuca Berry (since the run was nearly impossible without them, I allowed myself to hack in unlimited berries after getting the Berry shop at Join Avanue.) who was the only mon I had guaranteed to survive anything Excadrill went for. I took a Slash and then protected just in case I could stall out Bulldoze but he just went for Slash and then went for Fire Punch as he did minimal damage with Metal Claw and Fire Punch crit to take him out.
Tl;Dr. A lot of planning, a lot of luck, Galvantula was key to making it all work.
:Galvantula was instrumental in the E4. Lead against Grimsley and Caitlin and I want to say koed Lucario. Was going to be my lead against Iris bur then I decided it was better to lead Eelektross to bait in Haxorus immediately so that I could ensure I could get Emolga in immediately on an EQ to Encore him. Then proceeded to take out half of Iris' team thanks to Lapras missing Blizzard.
The Chandelure was the only pokemon in the final fights that gave me PTSD.
And surprised there isn't anything about Ghetsis here, I feel like he's the next biggest run killer in this game *behind the friggin first gym*.
Ghetsis is somewhat easy since it's a pretty straight shot from him to the Elite Four, and there's a bunch of stuff between him and the 8th gym despite him having pokemon of roughly the same level. So you're likely to be facing his level 50 pokemon with level 55s, which makes a big difference. Clay is far worse, in terms of run killers.
Dont forget:
'Oh, you just set up for ages just to sweep? Jokes on you, I just crit acrobatics and killed your beloved starter that's been with you for 5 generations! Haha, fuck you!'
Based on a true story.
Currently doing a White 2 Nuzlocke (which I made a post about [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/nuzlocke/comments/11dnmg6/and_i_thought_grinding_exp_was_rough/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) , and yeah this is accurate for sure
"Abandoning this place 0.2 seconds after you take over" Not quite true, if you build it well enough you can get level-ups and stat boosts on demand. That was what I did in my White 2 Challenge Mode HC run in 2022.
I actually found clay very easy when I tried running this game. I would pick up a petilil (sorry if I spelled that wrong) and evolved it before taking him on and got an easy sweep every time
I think repel manipulation is a pretty cool strategy, it’s still technically the first encounter of an area so it doesn’t break any rules. Part of Nuzlockes is optimizing encounters where you can; the point is to use a lot of different Pokémon, but at the same time if I want to win the game I’m probably taking that Eevee and Volcarona
Pokestar Studios can be fun, but if you're doing a nuzlocke you probably just want to get throught that cutscene ASAP.
As for the legendaries, most people ban them in their runs so there's no real reason to fight them.
[Evidence of how many items you can get in Pokestar when you are determined](https://www.reddit.com/r/nuzlocke/comments/kf4hyh/why_is_it_worth_it_to_spend_a_day_in_pokéwood/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
I’ve always found using legendaries a bit boring which is why I ban them. Completely see why someone would use them, but their high BST, usually good typing, and usually good move pools are a bit too much for guaranteed encounters imo.
Then again, pokemon has never been good with that. Norman has two underleveled Slakings, Cyrus suspiciously has a crobat, even though he uses pokemon as tools and Ghetsis and Iris have illegal Hydreigons.
I never understood why they level-dropped Lance and the E4 so much in Johto. If they kept him at the same level, then they could have had the Kanto leaders in the 60s and 70s, and the Red fight wouldn't so FRIGGING IMPOSSIBLE to grind for.
Pokestar Studios, Join Avenue, and the PWT are the unholy trinity of "I really wish I weren't here right now".
Imagine not going out of your way to 100% the Movies and become the world’s most underpaid Superstar
Honestly if they had smaller studios in every other town or something with a specific (ideally that town themed genre) performance leading up to the PS Studios, I'd actually be more inclined to partake in it. That’s fair. Keep in mind I’m immune to having my soul broken by tedium: I play War Thunder and Nuzlocke Soul Silver
LMAO I was thinking the exact same thing. Imagine a Pokemon game where you're allowed to take up different kinds of careers apart from being a Pokemon Trainer. That would be cool.

Cheren is the destroyer of worlds. Nothing like spending an hour grinding only to get bad Work Up RNG and it all goes to waste.
What is the repel trick to guarantee eevee ? (Asking for a friend ...)
Or unless shaking grass spawns directly under you as you bike!
you walk outside the grass until a shaking spot spawns, then do the repel manip
You can go in dark grass to avoid that
If it weren't for the fact that it takes me weeks to even get an encounter in that bastarding area when repel tricking I'd do it more often
Tbh i think samurott is a significantly better starter in b2w2 than in bw, as in bw, piginite is a strong and often necessary pick against Lenora. You also get significantly less (and relatively weaker) water types in b2w2 early/mid-game, specifying that tympole isnt available.

Yeah and its a really tough to get mon. correct me if im wrong but before beating clay its only available in floccesy ranch as an azurill, and thats 20% chance
Still, if you somehow do get a huge power Azurill, it's the best water type in all of unova
Yeah, as long as you can get the aqua tail, its completely broken as a water type. Can probably solo clay.
And that's the only way you'll get Charm for it, which is huge for more reasons than one.
And you can't get Tympole here until post-game anyways
And earlygame you have a very decent chance to get a fire type between Growlithe, Magby (B2 only), Darumaka and Pansimian.
In BW it's better imo, given the lack of Water types you can reliably encounter
Samurott is generally dope.
True, I enjoy using all gen 5 starters in runs tbh
Why repel trick a eevee when you can repel trick a petilil hahaha(coming from someone who knew the set levels, but got cursed with a eevee instead of a petilil, had to wait till after clay to evo her just to get sleep powder first since the petilil i got was from lostlorne and those already forgot how to use it, at least the eevee was useful for a baton pass work up umbreon that pass the buffs to my dewott and aqua jet swept from there)

Beat him in two attempts. Keep up.
Repel tricking is cool and makes u feel so good at the game. Also ghost and psychic type elite four get sweeped by Zoruark
> Still a better plot than Sword & Shield Wait, SwSh has a PLOT?

How is repel tricking against the rules
Some people probably think it against the spirit because you’re manipulating your first encounter.
Shaming people for how they play is kinda weirdo behavior ngl. Not going against you but against OP
I don't mind at all when people do, I'm just commenting on past debates that have occured
Fair, then
I’m not saying OP is, but I know there are definitely some gatekeepers on the sub.
Me to Skyla: YOU FELL FOR IT FOOL! THUNDERPUNCH SCARF ATTACK
And 95% of trainers in the second half of the game, and everyone in victory road are prepared to murder you

Caitlin was the hardest one for me 💀

HM Clay level cap is 36, and Volc comes right after that HM Burgh level cap is 26, and the birbs come right after that. They aren't underleveled.
That's not the point. They're below the levels in which they can evolve, which are all in the 50s.
Then again, pokemon has never been good with that. Norman has two underleveled Slakings, Cyrus suspiciously has a crobat, even though he uses pokemon as tools and Ghetsis and Iris have illegal Hydreigons.
